We particularly liked the friendliness of the staff. All the staff were friendly and efficient, however Joanna on reception stood out. We were greeted at every meeting with with a huge beaming smile. She was very friendly, efficient and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble for her. From the outset we felt very welcome and special. She was a joy and a pleasure to meet. We are looking forward to returning in July and meeting her again. She is a credit to the hotel.
Nothing
It was great, the pool was fab, as were the facilities. Great breakfast and comfy rooms.
Food and service at the Grill on the Hill was a bit below par, I’m a terrible cook and could have done better. I would have told a staff member, but nobody even came to ask how our food was.
Nice location. Handy for Leeds airport. Frirndly staff on reception and in the bar. Quiet during through the night. Good size swimming pool. Breakfast good. Very good value for money
Nothing
The room was not large, but a reasonable size, clean and in a very good position for us (and our dog!).
The bathroom was lovely.
The bed was large and essentially comfortable.
The evening meal in the "Grill on the Hill" was very disappointing and the service very poor.
The room was extremely cold. We were cold, even wearing jumpers and with our jackets spread on the bed. The mattress remained cold .
The bathroom floor was freezing old.
There was no heat on in the evening or overnight, nor in the morning.
The range of courtesy drinks in the room was very limited, eg no fruit teas or Earl Grey.
Food, spa, staff, how clean it was, the grounds were beautiful.
The only issue was a smell outside at the front, couldn't open the bedroom window due to this.
Enjoyed the spa facilities and the grounds are beautiful
The bed was incredibly hard. Only 1 pillow provided each, again too firm for us both. Surprised to find there was no air con system which I imagine would be uncomfortable in summer.
Housekeeping also banged on the door before it was even check out time which made us feel like we had to rush about packing and like we'd overstayed, however there was still another 20 minutes at this point before we even needed to check out. Wouldn't expect housekeeping until just after check out time, he questioned why we were still there...and the answer was because we had paid to be!
Staff were lovely.
Beds were uncomfortable, steam room needs a good old clean.
Beautiful grounds, lovely pool area. Beds are realky comfortable, great that breakfast is open till 10:30 am and that check out is 11 am at the weekend. All the staff are lovely.
Some of the rooms need upgrading are are looking a bit tired. We had 3 rooms booked, some had been upgraded and some hadn't. The coffee at breakfast is terrible, such as shame as everything else was great. Small thing to update but very important! Also the bar dorsnt stick any of the local breweries or have any IPA.
Hotel was in a good location for our needs. Good for local airport. Close to beautiful countryside. Hotel was comfortable and clean. Short stay for us so didn't use facilities.
Nothing negative
The room was spacious, bed comfortable, nice gym area which is split into cardio and weights in different rooms. The reception staff were friendly and they allowed me to check in earlier which was nice and the room assigned wasn’t ready they found me an alternative room promptly.
The jacuzzi was busy went a few times at different times and wasn’t able to use it.
