I stayed there a week and during my stay I was in the bedroom with my new born baby (a month old) and in the middle of the night around 12/1AM I just so happened to be awake as I the baby stirred, to then hear the door open WHICH WAS NOT SOMEONE I KNEW (A TOTAL STRANGER).
Turns out the reception desk had programmed that persons room key to the exact same room I was in!! And to top it off this may of not been the first time that has happened!
However, the food was delicious in the restaurant and the chefs were amazing, so although I had a terrible experience there, I want to mention not all was horrific.
I’ll leave whoever reads this to make their choice whether to stay here or not.
Booked a 5 day business stay, used the onsite car park, registered my vehicle, on vacating hotel, I received a full receipt with all car parking charges paid in full.
I'm now being chased by their contracted parking contractor ( Smart Parking) and Debt Recovery Plus, with threat of bailiffs.
The hotel have been totally incompetent and disinterested in supporting their guests.
I will never use them again.
Manager has not returned any calls.
I booked in October 22 for the weekend before Christmas and had made plans for a lovely weekend. Days before I was advised my booking had been cancelled. We all know why the hotel was no longer available…
So I was left with nowhere to stay with my twin toddlers and inadequate time to book anywhere else so close to Christmas. In addition to this, the payment was STILL taken for the booking after it had been cancelled and I am still waiting for my money back despite chasing and being promised a call back.
Shocking customer service. Sort out your admin, it should not be up to me to chase you for a payment that should never have been taken.
We booked this hotel to stay on 24th and 25th December 2022 in October 2022.
The hotel is within walking distance of the home of our son and his family and we had planned to spend Christmas with them.
On December 14th we received an email stating that Delta by Marriott Hotel, Cheshunt, was no longer able to offer us the accommodation we had booked. NO REASON WAS GIVEN. Two days later we received an offer of an alternative reservation at a hotel several miles away and at over THREE TIMES the cost of the original booking.
I consider this to be appalling treatment by this hotel group.
No-one seems to be able to help! We were given the wrong rate when booking and as you cannot speak to anyone on the phone as it's just an answerphone on a loop, we tried to sort on arrival, which seemed to be resolved ...until check out. The manager said he couldn't change rate as it was a prepay but would take off any extras like bar drink and car parking. Lo and behold the credit card was debited the DAY BEFORE we stayed and for the full amount without the refund. No one is answering the phone and it's impossible to actually contact this company other than calling the US - no UK customer service contact! Heaven knows how they get any business!! Despicable!! And btw the rooms are tired and old fashioned not as described in website.
Cold food for breakfast, Dust thick in room, broken socket that child could get finger into live wires.
On arrival for a family meal and a ten minute wait at reception I was told I had to register my car number plate then go outside and pay £6 to leave it there overnight as the car park didn’t belong to them.
The ticket machine was outside in an unlit area and very difficult to read and understand, I went back in to ask the receptionist for some help and had to wait again which by this time my family were being seated for dinner in a private room.
The receptionist wasn’t sure how to work the machine but eventually we got a ticket and by this time I was freezing cold.
The private function room was clean and tidy but my main meal was not very hot which was very disappointing and there was quite a long wait for a drink to turn up.
The toilets were clean and modern but didn’t seem to be checked all evening as there was quite a few bits of toilet paper laying about on the floor.
Having read some pretty awful reviews on this hotel I was wary about my 1 week stay while visiting family I can only say that these negative results could have been a different hotel On arrival we were greeted by very welcoming and professional staff who took time to allocate me a room suitable for my specific needs (walking difficulties). We had a lovely room facing the courtyard, it was bright and spacious and spotlessly clean. The food was good and again professional and helpful staff. My only problem was with housekeeping who didn't make up room on one occasion but when I reported to reception it was rectified immediately, would highly recommend this hotel and their refurbished rooms.
Lovely hotel. Amir on the front desk very welcoming. Great bed and shower.Good facilities gym great breakfast. Convenient access for the motorway. 30 min walk or 10 min taxi to train station which takes you to centre of London. We would stay again
The unrefurbished part of the hotel was of a poor standard
Disappointing.
On the plus side, comfy and clean bed linen, very good breakfast. Staff at Breakfast were very good. Warm room.
However room could do with a decent clean, especially the bathroom and room carpet. Toilet roll holder broken. Settee soiled. The bar closed a 10.00...
This was a great help to me. I arrived late and they were over booked. They got me a great room and the service from both Mrs Phanh on reception and Mr Amin (manager) was truly wonderful. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I am a Platinum Elite with Marriott and both of them made sure I won't be joining any other chain any time soon. Thank you :)
My husband and I stayed here and couldn’t have been better looked after. The room was beautiful, spacious and very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the food in the restaurant and were served by Divine (hope that’s the correct spelling!) who looked after us as if we were royalty. The only negative for me was the tv in the lounge was so loud it took over the restaurant area as well some times. Would we stay again? In a heartbeat!
Writing within 10 minutes of arrival
Was there a friendly welcome? No
Was there any acknowledgment that I am a regular Marriott user? No
Was there an explanation about meals or offer to book a table? No
Was there helpful advice about registering for parking? No
There was almost no advice on where my room was and only offered when I asked.
But on the upside, did I get a room key? Yes
I don’t blame the individual, as if there is no training, coaching and leadership why would she strive for anything other than a handing over of the key.
Room looks pleasant and well placed for my work.
There is a gym, which on a dark wet night is another plus.
Great breakfast
Shocked that I had to pay £6 for parking overnight
Had lots of problems with the room cleanliness raised it with two managers 4 members of the team and still not sorted after 3 nights. Not putting details on here as it was partially resolved and the managers aware.
Overall a decent stay. The entrance & part of the hotel is nice & contemporary. But the stairs, our corridor & our rooms were in desperate need of an upgrade. Very run down & outdated.
The gym was very basic also.
The standards of this hotel are way below any Marriott I've ever stayed in. The carpets haven't been changed since 1998. Decor is old and shabby. The whole place smells of weed or damp depending on where you are. The staff are clearly floundering through lack of guidance. I was told by atleast 8 staff members their GM had been fired. They overcharged me on checkout and it took a whole day of messages back and forth to recoup my money even though I mentioned this at the desk. The guy on reception said he had no authorisation to refund and no duty manager was present. I witnessed a first aid incident where a child and her mother were not given assistance. My breakfast inclusive was disputed at the restaurant and after sorting it I was approached by another member of staff while I was serving my breakfast to clarify again. My bill was shown to one of my guests whom I was paying for as a treat when she handed in her key. The guys on the night shift were all stood out the front smoking and laughing at the taxis who were getting flashed by the anpr cameras and would inevitably be fined. Room service trays littered the hallways and weren't cleared for atleast 5 hours. The public area flooring was wet mopped right before breakfast so all guests had to walk across it to get to the restaurant. The buffet had no scrambled eggs and while I requested some, none arrived in the half an hour I was in there. My room had no hairdryer. There was no decaf tea or coffee on the tray. I had no soap bar or hand cream and had to go and ask housekeeping. The room I was allocated was ground floor outward facing, despite being a lone female in the room. I had to insist this be changed instead of just asking. My occupancy was listed at 3 people sharing despite messaging 5x to change this. I was assured in advance that while my two separate night bookings were made at different times, I would not have to change rooms, i had to wait ages while the desk staff tried to change this at check in. A guy outside the front told me that he was housed here by social housing 58 weeks ago. I understand there are quite a few others who are too.....I could go on and on..This hotel is a disaster and some of the staff thought this was funny and even joked that they call the place faulty towers. They are actually having a faulty towers themed Christmas party to celebrate their combined incompetence! I am livid that the prices are so high for such terrible accommodations.
In nice and quiet area. Room was a lot older than pics suggested and not cleaned during stay due to staffing issues.
