Important information:


- The gym, indoor pools, and saunas (available at a charge) are closed on the third Wednesday of each month.

- Regular closure date of February 2026 is February 25th. (It's changed to the fourth Wednesday since the third Wednesday is a public holiday in February.)
- On February 18th, the indoor swimming pool is available for infants and children due to public holiday.
- The gym is only available for staying guests on February 25th, the regular closure date. (Must bring indoor shoes)

- The gym is open to those aged 16 years and older only, and the saunas are open to those aged 13 years and older only. Please note that the sauna is a paid facility so additional costs are charged when entering.
- The indoor pool is for adults only. Access to the pool is limited to those aged 13 years and over. On weekends and holidays, however, children under the age of 13 years are admitted in the care of an adult and only when wearing a life jacket in the pool if they are shorter than 55 in.


- Urban Island (Outdoor pool) is only available for guests who reserve Outdoor Pool Access package.
- Please follow the instruction from Life Guard when using all facilities such as Adult pool, Kids pool, Jacuzzi, etc.
- Guests under the height of 55 in are permitted to use the adult swimming pool only while wearing a life jacket and under parental supervision.
- Two sunbeds are available per room, and some sunbeds are prioritized for customers who have reserved them as part of a special package.
- Children under the age of 36 months must wear waterproof diapers in the pool
- Swim tubes with a diameter of 3.3 ft or less may be brought in and may only be used in the kids' pool.
- Admittance may be limited when the maximum number of users is reached.
- Urban Island operates even when it rains, but only a few sunbeds offer shelter from the rain. (In case of continuous heavy rain, operations might be disrupted.)

An institution in the luxury hotel class in Seoul!
Pros:

Well "The Shilla" is obviously a class of its own compared to the more budget oriented hotels we used during our Japan & South Korea trip. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but this is what you expect from a 5* Hotel. The bed and bedsheets were super comfortable and the view from the Hotel to Seoul Tower is spectacular on a sunny clear day. If you are not used to the kind of attention a luxury hotel gives to its guests, you might feel a bit out of place.
The breakfast buffet is outstanding, so give yourself a full hour to enjoy it in the morning.

Cons:

"The Shilla" is a few years old now and in some places it shows. E.g. doors not fully closing when you leave the room. At some point it will need a small facelift to keep up with other luxury hotels in the city.
And of course the location, view, personal attention and so on has it's price. For the usual clientele of such a hotel this is of course of no concern, us mere mortals can only afford a short glimpse into a different world. 😉

Great hotel and facilities with a bit of an underwhelming note.
Pros:

Hotel itself is very nice and good looking. Distance to metro station was a huge bonus. The bar, music and band were very nice and the food there was great.

Cons:

Most of the staff did not speak English very well and made communication a bit difficult. Hotel lobby feels like a metro station with all the people waiting in the lobby for the dinner rush. The line for said dinner almost went up to the hotel entrance. Food at breakfast was average and was lacking a good option of fresh fruits. As a guest of the hotel you would expect to have at least some sort of priority with reservations within the hotel restaurants. We had asked the concierge for the possibility of reserving La Yeon and never got any feedback.

Fantastisk hotell! Bra beliggenhet rett ved metroen. Nydelige rom, deilig seng og dusj. Den beste frokosten vi noensinne har spist med alle mulige valg, inkl deilig barista kaffe og nylaget croissant. Svært treningsrom med alle fasiliteter. Anbefales!

Amazing bed, dated interior, location too removed from the city, too expensive for what it is.

It's bland and dead in area around the hotel, taxi to everywhere and getting off the hotel grounds is a pain.

Having stayed at hundre
Pros:

Don't hesitate, BOOK IT!

There are many five star hotels around the world where the meet the criteria for such an accolade but very few that actually deliver a five star experience.
The Shilla Seoul exceeds expectations in every department, setting a shining example for others who truly wish to deliver an outstanding service.
I look forward to visiting again and indeed will make detours on future travels just to experience once again this world class hotel.
