Quality Inn & Suites - South Bend Airport.
Pros:

Thought I would save some money by staying there, which I did. However, the hotel has some shortcomings. I got stuck in the elevator as it stopped at the 2nd floor on the way to the 3rd floor and just shut down. Was stuck in there until the fire department came and got me out. Got up to my room only to find my bed had been made but was left without any towels, wash cloths or bath mat. So...back down to the front desk I went for those. Overall the hotel is clean and the staff is courteous but when checking reviews after this incident I saw where there were other guest who expressed problems with the elevator as well. I think I'll be looking for another place at the end of my stay.

Cheap owner won't renovate
Pros:

This is clearly a hotel that has seen better days with an owner who doesn't want to spend a dime to improve it. It needs to have a full renovation soon before it gets downbranded to OYO.

In the morning, there was no hot water for a shower. The piston on the desk chair was broken so that it would not stay elevated. There was a crack in the wall plate for the light switch in the batch. The TV was useless; the screen was smaller than the mini-fridge door and no channels were programmed in meaning trying to find a program was hit-and-miss.

Good luck navigating the parking lot on foot in the winter; the owner is too cheap to have it salted so there's ice everywhere.

The scrambled eggs and sausage at breakfast were the only bright point in my stay.

The indoor pool was closed; it appeared there was some sort of film on the surface of the water. There's only one elevator for three floors.

Avoid this hotel!

Do NOT stay at this hotel - they have terrible customer service, and you may be left without a room! We booked a stay about 2 months ahead of time at this hotel using points. When we arrived at the hotel early in the day of our stay, they told us that they had assigned us a room but that the room could not be occupied because of a problem in the room. We asked for a different room at that hotel (there were clearly rooms available, because it was early in the day), but they said that they were totally full. Because it was very early in the stay, there were clearly rooms available, but they said that they would not re-assign us and that we would not have a room. We asked for help rebooking us at a another Choice hotel, but they said that they could not help. We asked if there was anything else that they could do, and they refused any additional help. Because we were not given a room, we asked the front desk to be sure that we would not be charged points for the room, and they said that they would send us an email and not charge us. We left and were eventually able to find a room at another Choice hotel (farther away and at much higher cost) on our own. Later, we received no email, and we were charged the points by this hotel as though we had stayed in the room. We called Choice's customer service line for help and (after 30 minutes of working with a helpful representative) they credited back the points for the room that we did not receive. However, they did not help us with the higher cost of the other Choice hotel. So, we were not given any room at the hotel that we reserved; we lost a couple of hours looking for another room; we were charged points for a room that we were not given to use; and we received no help (before or after) with finding another room. Although we appreciated Choice customer service giving us back our lost points for the room that we did not receive, we are still out extra costs for finding our own other hotel room.

I’d find another place
Pros:

The property is in need of a serious update/renovation. It was fine for a night, but we wouldn’t stay again. Not in the best part of town either. The whole area in general, but especially the hotel reaked of pot. Modern day problem, I know, but I personally don't want to smell it. Our towels I’m sure were clean, but they were stained. Just needed some help.

Pool was closed, this was the whole reason we picked here. No discount was given. Kids were so disappointed. Room was not clean, dusty, musty, and no lock on the door! A tissue in the peep hole!

Pros:

The staff was very nice and helpful. The downside of the stay was that the breakfast provided had some issues with the pancakes and gravy that was provided. Both the pancakes and gravy were sour. We don't know of it was because of the preparation of the batter or that they had spoiled prior to serving. Either way, we could not eat those items, however the rest of the eggs and other items were ok. Additionally, the pool was not available to use and has been under repair since January 2024.

Disgusting, do not stay here!

Upon arrival at around 3:20 pm no one was at the front desk, I rang the bell three different times and then finally yelled out "Hello" before someone came up to the counter. The person called someone to ask about my room, then he told me it was missing some towels so he would wait to check me in when it was ready. We had to wait around an additional 15 minutes before they checked us in. Three other people trying to check in while we were checking in and trying to check out were told the save exact thing and had to wait extended time on their rooms.
We go up to our room on the 3rd floor and as soon as we stepped off the elevator the whole hallway smelled of Marijuana. We get into our room and I proceed to check the beds. The mattresses and mattress pads had urine stains all over them, blood stains on sheet and a burn hole. The pool was closed and was not disclosed on the website. I went back down to check out as I was not staying there with my young grandson, sister and great niece. The clerk goes to look at the room and comes back to tell me it doesn't smell like marijuanna up there and the room is perfect. They refused to refund my money or check us out. Told us that the manager could not but be reached, then said the manager told them they were too busy to deal with it. Still have not heard from manager or been refunded day after.

The gentleman on duty was extremely polite and kind. He was also very helpful went above and beyond to help me try abs receive a refund because I had a family emergency. This is not a reflection upon him.
There is blatant illicit activities occurring at all hours of the day and night and the room was not very clean and the area did not feel safe but the location is very convenient being directly across the street from the airport.
The refund the gentleman started for me has yet to be finalized. When I called to inquire I was met with a very rude manager who refused to give me their name and told me I had to deal with it.
I would not recommend staying here.

Pros:

The hotel was clean. Although the pool was closed by the Health Dept. due to a bacterial bloom. So there was that. This is a real Mom & Pop property. I see they are doing their very best & working very hard. The room was very clean & that's what's important to me. The free hot breakfast was typical, but good. Well presented. The check-in was slow. Everyone wears multiple hats. At one point, I believe the desk manager went up to the room to help his wife finish getting it ready. The price as right & they were very nice people.

Not what I paid for.

The indoor pool was not open and that was one of the things we booked for. I accidently booked one of the rooms for the wrong day and they absolutely refused to change it or give a refund, so I ended up paying for one of the rooms for two nights, you would think they would be a little understanding foe a mistake. fitness center had limited hours and was unavailable in the morning when we like to work out. No ice buckets in the room. Hot water was almost nonexistent, and the water pressure was bad. Breakfast was pretty good and they offered a little more than most hotels do.

I recently stayed at this property and had a very disappointing experience with the housekeeping staff. During my stay, my personal towel was mistakenly taken by the cleaning crew. What made the situation worse was the complete lack of professionalism shown afterward. Management did not make any real effort to locate my missing item or offer any meaningful compensation. Instead, I was given the runaround with empty promises and no resolution.

This reflects very poorly on how the property is operated. Guests should feel confident that their belongings are respected and safe, and that if an issue occurs, staff will act quickly and responsibly to fix it. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.

Due to this experience, I cannot recommend staying at this property or any other hotels operated under the same management style.

Our stay there was pretty good and I would have given it an excellent rating except for 1 very noticeable item. The smell of marijuana was outside the hotel inside the lobby and on the third floor where we were staying.

Good value. Staff went out of theirxway to cmbe axcomodsting and helpful. Only downside- my room smelled VERY smoky and no way to ventilate it. Otherwise, totally positive.
