Clean, big rooms (suite) with a nice view outside the balcony ( beautiful sunrise views ).

Cons:

We dint have hot water shower in the morning. It was not even luke warm. This was the day we were checking out with kids so dint bother to complain.

Friendly staff and close to the heart of Paihia
Pros:

Was so close to all amenities so we can walk everywhere

Cons:

We were right at end of building by road and entrance and the lift for the cleaners, so it was very noisey at times. The bar wasn’t open for the rugby games which was a disappointment as we would have liked to have a few drinks there. Not majors!

Pros:

The location was perfect to savor nature. Rooms were right for the budget. The staff are very helpful especially Melody at the front desk. The restaurant is good.

On day 2 we did not have hot water, spoke to staff as we went out for the day, in the afternoon we assumed the problem had been fixed as we had hot water again, Came back after dinner at 9pm same issue, mildly warm, next morning same. So if I stay in accomodaton I expext to be able to shower comfortably. not sure we would ever return as after we came home we get a call to say maintenance cannot find a problem, well there is a problem .

Good location and nice room but a few things could be improved
Pros:

Great location, good size room

Cons:

A bit noisy with other guests leaving in the morning although it was a busy weekend. Shower in the morning seemed like it was running out of hot water, I had to turn it right up and pressure was ok. The mattress hurt my back if I rolled on my stomach. The outdoor steps up to our room are showing signs of their age and need to be cleaned and painted.

Beautiful Matariki Staycay
Pros:

Oohh hard to say...we loved everything about our stay!!! But if we had to pick our top 2 favourites we would have to say the spa bath and waking up n walking out on the balcony to the breathtaking view of the harbour😍

Cons:

That we didn't book for longer. It was hard to come back to Auckland after being away at this beautiful hotel.

Nice couple of days away, but room could have been better for the price.
Pros:

Great location. Very close to town and beach. Lots of parking. Comfortable beds. Adequate bathroom. Friendly reception staff.

Cons:

Bathroom door didnt close properly, very long wait for room to be serviced with fresh towels etc. TV’s have been switched to smart tv so no skysport. Couldnt watch the warriors or all blacks.

Worst hotel in Paihia!
Pros:

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at KingsGate Autolodge Paihia. Although our visit was very short, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by the poor service we received at check-in.

We arrived late in the evening, fully expecting that most places nearby would already be closed. We were checked in by Jaime at the front desk, whose attitude was cold and unwelcoming from the very beginning. It genuinely felt as though she wanted to do the absolute bare minimum. When I later returned to ask about the hotel’s facilities, the answers I received were vague and unhelpful.

The most disappointing incident occurred while we were playing table tennis and waiting for a food delivery. Jaime came running towards us and loudly called out, “Did you order food? Your delivery driver is waiting. Your phone is unreachable, so he contacted the property. Please come and get it!” The manner in which this was handled was abrupt, unprofessional, and frankly embarrassing. Having stayed at hotels all over the world—including budget backpacker accommodations—I have never experienced staff communicating with guests in such a disrespectful way.

That said, I would like to recognize Rrohan and Melody, who were exceptional throughout our stay. They were friendly, approachable, and genuinely made us feel welcome. They were easily the standout members of the team, and if I were ever to return, it would be because of the service they provided.
