Lovely staff, dated , cramped rooms, bad lighting. Stayed one night , probably wouldnt stay there again. Stayed last year as it was close to venue, we had a studio and it was nice.
I can highly recommend the Mercure Nottingham City Centre Hotel. We reserved 33 rooms for our annual meeting, and the level of service we received was outstanding. Chris Butler was exceptionally professional, attentive, and responsive, ensuring that every detail was managed seamlessly throughout our stay.
The organiser who made the booking was kindly upgraded to a beautiful room and delighted with a complimentary bottle of prosecco, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. Our employees thoroughly enjoyed their stay; the rooms were clean, spacious, and well appointed, with exceptionally comfortable beds.
Our sincere thanks to Chris and Joana for their excellent support and professionalism.
A Beautiful old style hotel which is full of charm and heaped in history,,, my room was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated,,, the staff were great very welcoming and friendly,,, the hotel itself is in the heart of Nottingham and surrounded by a variety of pubs & restaurants to suit most people,,, this is my own personal opinion it’s the ideal hotel for a nice weekend away,, you won’t be disappointed,,,,
The pictures show a funky, interestingly decorated place that is trying to be a cut above the norm.
The reality is that the room facing the busy Carlton St was noisy, the bed oddly jammed into an uneven corner of the room, the floor full of odd bumps and slopes, the walls bashed, the paint peeling, mould in the bathroom etc, etc. And we booked a "King" room, but actually got two uncomfortable singles pushed together with a noticeable gap in the middle.
Breakfast wasn't great either - less choice than a Premier Inn breakfast and no higher quality except for the fresh berries which were nice.
By the way, they offer 20% off at the Lace Market Car Park but at around £19 per 24hrs this still worked out at around £15, whereas signs were telling me that Broad Marsh Car Park would have been £4.50 per day over the weekend at this time of year.
I'll stay somewhere else next time.
Super central location. Nicely designed rooms, comfortable beds with a calm environment throughout. Very helpful and attentive staff. Great selection of fresh and tasty food for breakfast. Looking forward to staying again in the future.
I will start off by saying this hotel looks nothing like the photo's - it's very misleading. Reception was dark and dirty and not what you'd expect from a 4 star hotel. I'd booked a double room for me and my wife to stay as we were seeing a show in town. I wasn't expecting anything fancy however, I'd expect something that looks similar to the photo I was shown on my confirmation. I'd describe our room as something you'd experience in a 2 star B&B. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel room with a double bed pushed against the wall, so you have to climb over one another to get out. Madness. It was like being back in my childhood bedroom(although that was much cleaner). The room was tiny and dirty - the bed springs were almost coming through and they'd attempted to make this 'better' by putting a tiny mattress topper over. There were also stains on the duvet from previous guests. We left through the night and drove home. We stay in a lot of hotels and I wouldn't usually post photos however, I felt I had to on this occasion.
We were visiting the Motorpoint Arena and wanted to stay somewhere other than our usual haunts, and saw this hotel at a fairly decent price for a 4*hotel.
However, we have been left incredibly disappointed.
From the outside it looks quaint, but on entering it seemed quite dark and gloomy, to the point where the reception team struggled to see our reservation, although they were very friendly and helpful.
On entering our room....and I use the word room very loosely, because I've seen broom cupboards which are bigger and cleaner, we were completely astounded by how small the room is, and I mean it was really tiny. We opened the door to the room and fell onto the bed. You could quite literally open the door with your feet whilst lying in bed.
The mirror attached to the wall was cracked and taped up with black and red safety warning tape!!
As for the bathroom....I sat on the toilet and took a trip around it's tiny confines because it was barely attached to the porcelain. The door handle was hanging loose, and when I used the hot water tap it remained ice cold until the sink was full of water, which then resolutely decided to stay for approx 6 minutes despite no plug being used.
Some people might call all of these issues quirky, but for a 4* star hotel, how on earth did this hole get that.
City centre hotel that falls below what is expected in a 4# hotel. The Reception area is really small with no seating area. The staff though were very good and helpful during our stay. The rooms were pretty average. The only available public area to sit however is a tiny bar area on the first floor that is actually closed two nights every week leaving no public space at all in the hotel! The breakfast served were average.
Booked the king suite in the Nottingham City centre location for two nights for my birthday. We booked directly, which made the price more than fair value. The room was lovely: clean, comfortable, and quirky in a way that we both absolutely adored. We especially liked having the bath in the suite to come back to after a lot of walking around the city. The building is beautiful, and really made the whole stay feels special. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and I thought the location was excellent. Everything we wanted to visit was in easy walking distance, and it was easy to come back to the room to drop things off or just have a quiet sit down for 5 minutes. Will definitely be staying again
I really enjoyed my stay here, right in the middle of the action. Staff were always more than willing to help out. The hotel is old, quirky, and full of character which I really enoyed although that does mean lopsided equeaky floors! Breakfast was great and I made good use of the gym
Very good central location, easy to walk into centre and to bars/restaurants. Rooms are quirky with mismatched decor but clean.
Tea/coffee provided and nice toiletries im bathroom.
Not noisy as such but quite creaky, lift needs oiling . friendly, efficient staff .
Good value for money due to its central location.
Perfect location in Nottingham for tourist , you can’t beat in terms of hotel services and its walking distance access to bars, restaurants , major city attractions. Even sainabury is less than a minutes to buy early morning groceries.
I requested for extra bad, I came earlier and requested check in, even I asked for two more hours in check out . They accepted all requests without blinking eyes, really appreciate their kindness . Hotel itself a treat to stay, 203 years of elegance . Really enjoyed my time and the place
Convenient central location in 200 year old hotel . Lots of character and.very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms dated but quirky. Breakfast simple but good quality fruit etc and full English. Joana very helpful in selecting best rooms for our requirements.
Staff are friendly and the rooms are nice. En-suite bathroom was great. However the best part of the hotel is the location, right in the city close to everything. Would recommend
Great location and a nice hotel. We booked direct and received a discount for this. We got one of the smaller rooms I assume in the hotel, but we were only there for 1 night to see a gig at the motorpoint arena that was only a 5 minute walk away.
Our room was small but okay and it had everything you would need but could have done with more plug socket and not just behind the tv. Room was clean and tidy but did show a signs that it was a little tired and could do with some tlc.
Staff very helpful and welcoming
The hotel has a nice feel and interior
A superb central location, excellent value for money with a good breakfast selection. A very comfortable bed in a very clean well equipped room ( paid a bit more for the delux room ). If you really need a city view I’d request this ! Ours only had a service area wall ! Not a problem for us though. As always we have found the team here polite, professional and friendly a real asset.
The adjoining bar is one of the nicest in Nottingham and certainly couldn’t be heard from our room. 10 out of 10 stay yet again.
I booked tickets to see Duran Duran at the Motorpoint Nottingham as a birthday present for my wife (it was on her bucket list). We needed somewhere to stay for one night and booked this hotel.
Everything was great: all of the staff were friendly and helpful, the 200 year old hotel was really quirky (so many different corridors and old features kept in a modern hotel), The room was lovely - warm, welcoming and with everything we needed. The location is perfect, close to the centre for restaurants and pubs and 5 minutes from the arena. We even got discounted parking in The Lace Market car park!
If we go to the arena again we will definitely stay here!
We stayed here for one night 3 mature ladies in one room they provided us with a z bed . On line check in made it all smooth . We were greeted by friendly young man . Very helpfull with all we needed to know including helping us with directions , found our room lovely clean sheets fluffy white towels hot water , room was warm . We needed another cup stafff again so very helpfull polite. .breakfast next morning was lovely lots choice fruit yogurts bakery items,, selection hot food , and again staff really make this hotel . Breakfast staff worked well together and provided us with a lovely start to the day , this hotel is central to the shops and theatre , 10 mins walk to train station we will stay here again
A lovely hotel, love the feel of the place, warm and cozy, great location, great facilities, the staff are all friendly and do a great job, lovely breakfast choices, everywhere clean and fresh, have stayed here a few times now and will be staying again when I next have a gig wkd
Very well placed in city centre, staff were very friendly and helpful, room was very nice and clean,if ever going to Nottingham again would definitely look to stay there again.
