I requested a refund for the 1 night I spent at the Marriott Residence Inn Richmond Northwest/Short Pump. There were bugs in my room which I woke up to after spending the night there. I sent emails and photos and made phone calls to both management at that facility and to Marriott Corporate. Matthew Wiler, the manager, would not even give me the decency of a response and just closed the case. Marriott promises their clients a safe, hygienic and clean environment at their premises. They did not deliver. It was the most disgusting experience I have ever had at a hotel.
This hotel is undergoing renovation and when we checked in, the lobby and other public areas in the first floor were being renovated. What was great is that the room we had was freshly renovated with all new decor, which had a very inviting yet modern feel to it. And we were very happy to experience it for ourselves. Also, the room was solidly quiet. The front desk staff were very warm and hospitable, and made us feel at home right from the start. This was our first stay here, and it was thoroughly excellent. We will be back again soon.
Hello, I’ve been a Marriott member for over 20 years in this residence in is very nice centrally located near the business park that I was in and I want to say the staff was fantastic including Mat the assistant general manager Cheryl the morning lead semi the breakfast king and the rest of the staff
I recently spent eight nights at the Residence Inn and had a genuinely beautiful stay. Even with renovations underway, the team: Matthew, Cheryl, Seme, Andre, Fabris, and many others worked with such grace and efficiency that any minor disruption was handled immediately. My kids and I felt cared for every single day.
Meeting Howard, the regional manager, only reaffirmed why this property is considered a hidden gem. The suites were spacious, breakfast was consistently great, and the atmosphere felt warm and familiar, like staying with family.
If you’re on the fence because of renovations, don’t be. The staff make the entire experience seamless. I’m truly grateful to the amazing team for making our stay feel like home, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, kindness, and exceptional service.
The staff was fantastic! This location is a model for how to provide excellent service and hospitality. I travel regularly and stay at expensive hotels and boutique places in metropolitan cities. They could learn from this team. The various front desk managers were helpful, friendly and polite. The cleaning staff was pleasant. And the breakfast teams were accomodating and super friendly. My family and I felt welcome and cared for. Thank you.

Even Moreso he delivered exceptional Service to me and my family, Matthew doesn’t just provide service; he creates connections. His team reflects his passion, as they embody the same dedication to excellence. Whether it’s a simple request or a complex arrangement, he ensured that every interaction and detail was handled with care and professionalism. I remember one Day/Night he worked two shifts in a row I could imagine he felt tired but didn’t show it he left us feeling valued and appreciated, which is a testament to his leadership. I was warmly greeted by the Asst. General Mgr. Matthew Wiler and quickly registered in. When the first room offered was not to my liking, he worked with me to find a more suitable alternative on a higher floor.
Spent four days with family in October. The hotel is going through a renovation but the staff did a wonderful job of making sure we were inconvenience in any way. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially Matthew at the front desk. The breakfast offered many choices and the food was excellent.
Had a perfect stay from the time we were greeted at the front desk to the time we checked out. Even though the hotel was was under renovation at the time we didn't hear any construction at all and our room was spacious and clean. Matthew truly went out of his way to make sure our family was taken care of, thank you Matthew!! I look forward to staying at this hotel again and would recommend it to any traveler as well.

We traveled from NH to Short Pump for a wedding and were welcomed by the most friendly face I’ve met at a hotel. Matt was so welcoming and informative for our family it felt we had known him for years. His customer service is top notch and puts his guests needs above all else. He made every guest feel like a friend even on a packed weekend. He gave us great recommendations on food and sites to see while we were here and made sure we were happy throughout our stay. The rooms were very big and clean which topped it off as a great wedding weekend. Thank you Matt.

The front desk staff was fantastic! The hotel is undergoing a long overdue renovation & the parking is not great (construction material takes up a large area). Once the renovation is complete, it will be a nicer facility. The breakfast menu needs a "freshening" (the same souffle 3 days in a row) & not much variety. The location is good for visiting the west end & the interstate is minutes away. The room was clean & comfortable.

The team demonstrates genuine care—from Matthew Wiley's hands-on management style to Clara's attention to room readiness and guest safety. The facilities are well-maintained with quality bedding and accessible showers. The breakfast service, led by Seme, is excellent, and staff proactively ensures guests don't miss meals. Luke's leadership creates an environment where the entire team operates professionally. The housekeeping staff maintains impeccable standards.
