Felt safe & pool area was great & they do a lot to keep it cleaned.
Restaurant inside was HORRIBLE! Not enough staff so if you wanted to grab a quick drink its nearly impossible, the bartenders couldn’t even make a simple margarita!!! Valet was terrible, pay $60 a night but have to wait almost an hour to receive your vehicle & also had to wait in line for 20 mins just for someone to arrive at the valet window to even take your ticket slip.
This is part of negative feedback - it is so long that it does not fit into one box:
When I booked this hotel and saw the low ratings on Booking.com, I assumed some of the reviews were a bit dramatic. After all, we’re not people who demand luxury — we’ve stayed in hostels in Berlin, unranked hotels in the Philippines, and roadside motels without any complaints. We know what “basic” looks like. Still, this turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had. Frankly, we expected much more when booking a “Grand” hotel in the city center.
The main issue is simple: the staff just don’t seem to care. We had reserved a third bed (the sofa), but there was no pillow, sheet, or blanket in the room, and the mattress was still wrapped in plastic like a brand-new purchase. I asked the front desk to bring bedding and make the third bed as per the reservation. When we returned, there was indeed an extra sheet in the room — mission accomplished, apparently. I then had the pleasure of explaining what the phrase “make the bed” means.
According to the hotel rules, rooms are cleaned every third day. We stayed five nights, which — mathematically speaking — should have resulted in at least one cleaning. It did not. To make things even more interesting, there is no “Please make up the room” sign provided, so guests can’t even attempt to request it.
The negative feedback continued:
We booked with breakfast included, yet staff repeatedly told us we had to pay for it. Only on the fourth day did we finally convince them it was already covered. Getting the charges reversed required three separate conversations and a surprising amount of persistence. One breakfast we skipped entirely because we assumed we’d be charged anyway — which felt like the safest financial strategy at the time.
As for the breakfast itself: let’s say expectations were successfully managed by keeping them very low. Some dishes were not particularly clean, which added an element of adventure to the dining experience.
The infrastructure feels like the hotel was once very modern — possibly in the 1970s — and has been carefully preserved in that exact condition ever since. Elevators are old, and bathroom doors either refuse to close or require the strength and determination of a gym workout to operate.
Our room was supposedly one of the finest apartments, but none of the windows opened, so the air became stuffy. There was also a cable running under the carpet that you could clearly feel when walking — apparently the shortest path between two points is straight through the guest’s comfort. Around the mini-fridge, the carpet was constantly wet and sticky. I never did determine whether the source was the fridge or the air conditioning, both conveniently located in the same area.
Overall, if you enjoy small daily puzzles, low expectations, and opportunities to practice patience, this hotel might be for you. If not, you may want to keep scrolling.
Location
I have contacted this property to receive an invoice of the stay multiple times through their email, phone number, and booking.com but they are not answering. The phone calls goes to automated bot and after recording a voicemail you get no response back
Staff was good. Hotel looks clean but tired in some areas. But overall, i think it was clean. Breakfast was good and includes lots of things. Location is relatively good but in a less crowded area of downtown.
Got stuck out of the room for 20 minutes until service changed a door battery. The employees at the breakfast area never received the indication that i had free breakfast with genius level 2 but they never complained after showing them my reservation and status. But they asked me 3 times and even came with a receipt to my table once. Not sure how they inform of my booking inclusions. They charge you $25 per night stay and then give you a $10 coupon to use on the Starbucks inside the hotel. The voucher is not good for alcohol, and they charge you airport prices for anything. We had to wait 2 days to get our vouchers as they were printing them apparently. Location is relatively good but you need to walk a hill up and down to get to the millennium park etc. Our room was also next to an area that employees used constantly at 7am.
They turned off the A/C and only the heater started working at 10... when the checkout said 11.
Professional Staff
All was well
Great location. Walking distance to great restaurants. And short walk to Mercedes Benz Park. Hotel and its surroundings was beautiful
The electrical outlet in bathroom didn’t work.
