The place was well presented and the host was excellent. The food portion was good quality was also good.
Standard the host was great and welcoming beds and rooms where spacious
Breakfast was spot on plenty to choose from
Our host, Stan, was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Warm, welcoming and chatty, we really enjoyed his breakfasts and will definitely stay there again.
The shower in our bathroom didn’t work properly, the rainfall head didn’t work at all and the temperature of the water fluctuated a lot.
The cereal selection. Good enough for what I wanted.
A bit of noisy plumbing work that needed attention.
Brilliant host.. nothing was to much trouble..very comfortable room..ex ceptional choice.. of breakfast food..Including a full cooked English breakfast ..
Will definitely stay there again..
Nothing to dislike..
Brilliant will be back end of the month
Stan was a great host with cuppa on arrival. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area providing tips on where to visit. The Rose Suite was clean and comfortable. There are beautiful gardens surrounding the venue.
Nice staff
Room wasn't clean, not working toilet.
We had a couple activities planned one of them being painting our own mugs which Stan let us bake in the oven once they were done. He even took these photos and sent them in the morning after they had cooled down! Stan made our stay warm and welcoming!
Good parking, ground floor request accommodated.
Unusual feel about the property maybe it was the decor
We loved our stay at the Dorset Arms! A unique inn full of charm and character, fascinating decor with medieval knights in armour, American Indians in full headdress, bronze sculpture lamps, pretty French lampshades and beautiful classical paintings...so much to admire and so unlike the cold, stark, soulless decor of most modern hotels! Rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, warm and cozy, comfortable and well-maintained. Location was in a quiet residential neighbourhood, with easy access to public transport; also close to the end of Hadrians's Wall, in Wallsend.
Newcastle itself is a lovely city to explore, with beautiful architecture, Castle and museums, and a lively Quayside waterfront with views of an amazing number of bridges; also a short drive from the beautiful beach of King Edward’s Bay at Tynemouth with its spectacular Priory ruins of ancient times towering over high craggy cliffs. Lots to explore within easy commutes or driving distances of the inn.
Stan is a superb cook and a wonderful host who loves his guests and it shows ! he goes out of his way to give them a warm welcome, and really ensure they are comfortable. Every morning (we stayed 4 days), his freshly-cooked hearty breakfast was absolutely scrumptious, with a vast variety of everything you could possibly want and more for a copious breakfast, even honey from his own bees! A lovely garden and inviting solarium to relax completes the homey picture.
We had a wonderful stay, but what made it stand out even more is that Stan went out of his way to be helpful, and was very kind to go the extra mile in providing some extremely valuable and useful information, which was truly encouraging and heartening. If we come back to Newcastle, without question we would stay at the Dorset Arms again, and would heartily recommend it to everyone. Thank you Stan, for being such a wonderful host and for a memorable stay! You truly make the Dorset Arms a home away from home!
This isn't Anything to do with the Inn - only a caution that for those taking public transit, just be careful to verify times of last buses and trains when coming back late in the evening or night ; we almost missed the last bus more than once (our own fault )
Great location
Stan and his mum were very welcoming and helpful with any queries we had
Breakfast was lovley
Felt very at home
Loved the property and interior
Would highly recommend
Nothing
Absolutely everything was spot on.
Couldn't have asked for a better stay, we have stayed in high end pricey hotels and dorset arms has went above and beyond it. It was warm, spotless, quiet, very lovely and intriguing decor and the owner Stan was an absolute legend. He was very funny, very welcoming, and even offered us a lift to the local gig we had travelled up for. It gave me warm nostalgic vibes of being taken to a gig as a teen by a parent which was really wholesome.
We unfortunately missed breakfast due to too much boozing at the gig but it looked absolutely delicious and we were still offered coffee past breakfast timing. The price was also an absolute steal, we will be back if we go to any more local gigs.
I didn't like that I didn't know about this hotel sooner, id have saved myself a lot of uncomfortable stays in other hotels!
Absolutely nothing to fault.
