The Gran Melia Iguazu delivers on every level. Excellent view of the falls from our room, great food, top notch service, and the location within the park for early access. Would back in a heartbeat.
My husband booked 3 nights for our family at the Grand Melia. A luxurious experience. In terms of food experience, the breakfast buffet is the best. Lunch and dinner are à la carte and dishes are a bit hit and miss. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Early park access is such a bonus. The infinity pool with view on the cataratas and late afternoon sightings of toucans and even a small deer is pretty impressive.
Incredible hotel , incredible location , management very helpful. We enjoyed all our meals in the hotel 3 nights .
First night we dined in the grill , everything great , steak pho de bide $98.000 Saturday before Don Julio better quality $89.000 ?
I did have the same steak at Mercado restaurant $58.000 but bad quality I have to exchange for fish.
Our last lunch I ordered entrana a punto and a come over cooked but my daughter eat it anyway.
All over all a great experience that’s why I give 5 stars.
It was an amazing experience. The service was amazing and the views were beautiful. Highly recommend
great location, staff are very nice, rooms are clean, overall i would come here again.
This is a very difficult hotel to review as the location and the setting are stunning; however, the rooms themselves equate to a lower-end 2 or 3 star hotel in the Latin America and the Carribean.
Rooms rating 1 star out of 5: Basically, imagine cheap Ikea furniture with a coat of white paint. The bathroom also lacks any privacy as it's just a swinging glass door that does not seal or shut. My biggest warning regarding the rooms is a very strong musty and moldy smell mixed in with some type of strong cleaner / perfume smell. I'm used to staying in humid environments; however, this is the first time that my allergies were triggered to a point where I couldn't breathe. I would warn anyone with asthma or allergies to smells to be very cautious. We paid extra to upgrade to a King bed room with waterfall view and ended up finally changing the room to one with twin beds after looking at 4 other rooms as that was the only one that didn't smell. Also note that the balcony door can't be left open due to the monkeys, so there is no chance to have fresh air in the room. The staff acknowledged that this is an old building and the permeating musty and moldy smell is an issue. It's clear that the ownership doesn't care about mitigating the problem in lieu of profits as the "renovations" seem to entail just putting a fresh coat of paint.
Food rating 3/5: Breakfast is standard fare. The baked goods and desserts tasted very stale. Dinner at the main restaurant and the steakhouse was solid, but unremarkable. You are paying a huge premium given the isolated location with prices on par with high end steak houses.
Service 4/5: Almost of the staff that we encountered were very helpful and polite. The only negative point is that the hotel management was quick to charge us the price for a room upgrade, but offered no service recovery when we had to change from a King to a twin bed room due to smell issues with the room. We didn't bother asking for any type of compensation, but I think this just exemplifies the profit over guest comfort / experience mentality from the management.
Other things to note: There is no early park access. The hotel has a gate to the park trails that is locked until the park opening time of 8am. The advantage of the location is that if you go right at 8am, you would be the only ones with other hotel guests on either the lower or upper circuit trails. There is no advantage for visiting the devil's throat as you have to queue with park visitors for the first train. In fact, this is better done in the late afternoon to avoid the crowds.
If you decide to stay at the hotel, my recommendation would be to limit it to just 1 night and ideally spend the other night in Belmont on the Brazilian side, which is actually a true 5 star hotel and is pretty much better in every aspect by a mile. For Gran Melia, I would aim to check-in in the afternoon and take the train to the Devil's throat around 3pm. The following morning at 8am do the lower and upper circuit to avoid the crowds.
I’ll be honest. I wasn’t sure any hotel could live up to the setting. Iguazú Falls is one of those places you see in pictures and think nothing could possibly match it in person. The Gran Meliá not only matched it, it made the whole experience better than I ever expected.
We stayed in Suite 368. From the moment we walked in and saw those floor-to-ceiling windows looking straight out at the falls and the jungle, we knew we were somewhere special. The hotel had set up a welcome with wine, macarons, strawberries, fresh flowers and a handwritten note. A nice personal touch that told us right away this wasn’t going to be a typical stay.
The infinity pool might be the best seat in the house. I sat out there with the falls in the background, mist rising, a rainbow showing up like it was put there for us. I didn’t want to move. One of those moments where you just have to stop and take it in.
The spa was excellent. The hydrotherapy pool looks directly out at the falls, which is something else entirely. Even the massage rooms have that view. I’m not sure how you top that.
We had dinner at the Asador one evening. Serious grilled meats, great drinks, outdoor terrace. That’s my kind of meal. Breakfasts were just as good, sitting outside with the falls visible in the distance and a good cup of coffee. Hard to beat that start to a morning.
The staff is what really sets this place apart though. Juan in the restaurant was attentive and genuine every single time. Our drivers Marcos and Derlis were outstanding. Marcos took us to the Rafain Churrascaria dinner show and waited on us the whole night. Derlis handled our trip to the Brazilian side of the falls and made the whole day seamless. Both of them treated us like family, not just guests.
The Red Level Lounge was a great perk. A relaxing, upscale space we enjoyed throughout the stay. The walk out to Devil’s Throat and the train ride through the park were well organized and genuinely awe-inspiring.
Communication with the hotel through WhatsApp was easy and responsive the whole trip. We needed a late checkout and they took care of it without any hassle. That kind of flexibility matters when you’re traveling.
If you’re going to Iguazú Falls, stay here. Don’t overthink it. We’ll be back.
Amazing hotel and incredible experience overall. The food at all the restaurants is out of this world! The views of the waterfalls are gorgeous. Staff were so kind and amazing. We loved it!
Juan & Miguel met our every need when dining. The food was absolutely amazing. The view of the falls from the room was breathtaking.
Location is so amazing. We enjoyed every moment of our stay.
Checking in is easy
The staff is kind and very accommodating
Juan assist us every morning at breakfast
Perfect experience
It’s very clean
Totally satisfied with our stay
Thank you
Gorgeous hotel right near the falls. Great to be able to visit the falls after the park officially closes. Our room was beautiful and a good size. View of jungle was nice. Hoped to see more monkeys but we only saw a few. Pool and view of the falls from the hotel in the distance is beautiful. Service in the hotel is very good. We used the spa area and had hydrotherapy. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Dinner with half board was excellent.
Amazing hotel great location, if you are outdoor and like to walk is the place for you, Server Enrique at breakfast was very friendly, so everyone else there.
This hotel is way overpriced for what it is. The view is amazing, but beyond that, it is not a 5-star hotel as advertised. They also turn the ac off at night. I woke up sweating and they brought me a fan and told me the ac is only on during the day. You can't even open your balcony door to get more air because there are monkeys that will come in. Stay somewhere else if you need ac.

Everything was great! The hotel itself is amazing with an incredible view and being inside the National Park is a great advantage for quick access to main experiences. Everyone at the hotel was very kind and always willing to help to make sure your stay at Iguazu is amazing. The rooms are not that huge, but the views to the falls will make it worth it. The atmosphere in the hotel is perfect and every area (Restaurants, Pool, Gym, etc) are simply amazing. The breakfast was simply amazing, with a lot of variety and the pastry is done at the same hotel - and it's just perfect. The rest of the Menu at the hotel was ok. I would definitively recommend this hotel to anyone. They even prepared an special surprise with balloons and photos at my room for my Birthday - Special Thanks to Damian at the front desk who was really helpful during the whole stay, always willing to help and to address any concern.
We love the atmpsphere of the place and the kindness of the people from the hotel, they were really nice.
De tudo: vista incrível, quartos excelentes, equipe super educada e prestativa, café da manhã sensacional. Realmente o hotel é um sonho!
De nada. Foi tudo sensacional.
