Disappointing. Would not recommend.
Pros:

The staff was friendly. The hotel was quiet.

Cons:

It badly needs renovating. Our bathroom faucet was so short that one barely could fit one hand under it. Carpets dirty. The pool deck had a lot of ants.

Pros:

Actually a three nights stay at Rydges Rotorua , arrived . Monday 2 March 2026 and departed Thursday 5.March 2026.
I loved the outdoor heated swimming pool and outdoor hot spa. Especially a swim last and the full moon
I loved the evening buffet, a great selection of food, especially seafood.
The reception staff helpful snd friendly.

Cons:

Someone - a previous guest had put stickers & chewing gum under the drawer ( yes under the draw)by the desk near mirror. I was curious about drawer space and noticed this and mentioned this to Reception staff.

Pros:

room and beds were very nice and comfortable with great outlook looking out at the thermal areas .
Easy to find by car and easy access to nearby sights if your driving .

Cons:

need a nice lounge area to sit near the bar . lounges got removed and more tables got added but didn’t see people use the new extra tables
would like a cafe with snack / cakes on offer

Unclean and needs a urgent update
Pros:

How it use to be! Apart from that the pool was ok

Cons:

The fact that our room was disgustingly, the toilet flush button was broken, maintanence came into fix it and said sorry that's the best I can get until valves are replaced. (He was polite about it) also the 2 glasses on the bench hadn't even been cleaned or changed.
The room also smelly mouldy and very musty, I looked every where and then noticed under the bed and around the skirtings were covered in dust. Went and spoke to the manager I suppose again - I asked to have a new room and he refused and said they were fully booked, then requested it to be fully clean again - and apparently they did but they only turned on the vents in the bathroom - they hadn't touched the places I spoke to them about.
Breakfast was mehhh - definitely needs to be rebooked at upgrading the rooms and re evaluate their level of cleanliness!

The pool and hot tub were nice to use.

Cons:

The room was absolutely unacceptable. It was visibly dirty, with mold present, and everything looked worn down and poorly maintained. Housekeeping during the stay was practically nonexistent, the room was barely cleaned. Overall, the property felt far more like a run-down motel than a hotel.
The gym was extremely disappointing, offering only the bare minimum equipment and a single low-quality bench. The TV system was equally frustrating, glitchy and unreliable. The Audio Description setting could not be turned off, and at one point the TV froze on a single channel, making it unusable.
This was a very disappointing experience and not at all what I expected.
