Disappointing and way over priced. Not clean at all
Pros:

Not a lot

Cons:

Run down, dirty, changing room by pools smells, kids area looks like it hasn’t had a deep clean in forever. Our room wasn’t serviced at all.

Great hotel for family with kids. Safe, comfortable, and fun.
Pros:

Kids are free to stay. We love the swimming pool and the Family zone. Is in the Handy location close to town not that far away. The hotel next to one of the signature tourist attractions. If you like mountain biking this is definitely the place to stay. We are happy to stay here again.

Cons:

The mattress was not as comfortable as we thought; but we’re happy with the room Service the cleaning Nurse of the hotel room as well as the friendly Staff.

Dissapointed - Room 128
Pros:

It's our first of two nights here, and after a week on the road for work, I was really looking forward to relaxing in the hot pools. I have fond memories of bringing my family here over many school holidays, so I was excited to return.
Unfortunately, the pools looks like they haven't been updated in years. One of the jacuzzis wasn't working, even after I mentioned it to staff twice. During the school holidays the place is very busy, so having only one jacuzzi operating made it overcrowded. The working jacuzzi was cracked, and the entire pool area looked tired and in need of refurbishment.
On a positive note, the reception staff were excellent. The young woman who checked me in was friendly, welcoming, and professional. Our room is comfortable, clean, and overlooks the pools, which is lovely.
The restaurant, however, was very disappointing. The food looked nothing like the photos online. Just before 7pm when we went down for dinner, around half the buffet dishes were empty or needing filling. . There was only one roast meat available (pork), and the potatoes in the curry looked like leftover roast potatoes from the previous night's dinner. Most of the desserts had run out and weren't replenished until I had asked. There was no cutlery available for the deserts and the staff seemed confused or inexperienced.
When I paid for the meal, the restaurant manager asked how it was. I gave him my honest feedback, but instead of listening, he became defensive. Even after I mentioned that I was staying for another night. He responded by saying, "Maybe you should eat somewhere else tomorrow night." I was genuinely shocked by that response. It was unprofessional and completely unacceptable from someone in a management position.
At $65 per person for a inhouse guest, the buffet simply isn't worth the price. Between the poor quality of the food and the restaurant manager's attitude, it was a very disappointing experience. The reception team provided excellent service, but unfortunately the restaurant experience lets the Rydges down....

Great view
Pros:

Great view from our ranch sliders, comfortable bed, friendly staff.

Cons:

A previous occupant's dental floss thingy was left on the floor in our bathroom; bed was made a if a teenage boy had done it (days 2 and 3). On the first night the wind made an incredibly loud whistling sound - I don't think the ranch sliders were properly sealed - one door was actually off its tracks when we arrived and we had to put it back on. If you didn't get to the buffet early some items had run out.

Excellent stay!
Pros:

We loved our stay at Rydges. It was a great location for us to get round Rotorua. The room was well decorated and very comfortable for our stay. Rydges commitment to the environment was excellent, we really appreciated the offer of $10 credit for each day we didn't use housekeeping.

Cons:

The pool was very full of kids throughout our stay. As a couple travelling without children we would have appreciated an "adult hour" to be able to make use of the facilities.

When I think of The Rydges, I think international standard but this was barely domestic. I have stayed at your Wellingto
Pros:

The staff was courteous.

Cons:

The room was cramped with 2 double beds which sadly was not worth the cost per night. The toilet needs a deep clean.
