Amazing hotel, exactly like the photos. The food is a little expensive but excellent, the beach is perfect and they have kayaks you can take in the water if you want. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the room is big with excellent bathroom

Ligging, personeel, iedere dag fles water op de kamer, toffe strandzak- en lakens ter beschikking, nest babyschildpadjes op het strand, lekkere koffie, geweldig uitzicht, kano's ter beschikking, snorkelen aan het rif vlakbij...

Parfait ! Accueil au top, un véritable havre de paix

Perfectamente ubicado: a pocos minutos de todo, pero alejado del ruido urbano. Las habitaciones, bien decoradas, cómodas y limpias, estaban muy bien equipadas, aunque no contaban con TV. El restaurante es encantador y su balcón, simplemente hermoso, ideal para contemplar el amanecer o el atardecer.

Todo fue excelente: el personal fue extremadamente atento y cordial, siempre dispuesto a hacer que nuestra estancia fuera súper agradable. Muy atentos en cada detalle. Muchas gracias a todos, en especial a Javier y Diana, por ser cómplices de una velada tan bonita.

Nettes Hotel mit recht einfacher Ausstattung, aber direkt am Strand gelegen. Die Aussicht von der Restaurantterrasse ist umwerfend. Das Personal absolut freundlich und zuvorkommend. Leider erschwert das viele Seegras den Zugang zum Meer. Aber es gibt einen Badesteg. Familien mit Kindern sollten dennoch ein anderes Hotel wählen.

Expedia sollte die Bilder überprüfen, mit denen für das Hotel geworben wird. Der abgebildete Pool bspw. gehört zum Nachbargebäude. Das ist etwas irreführend.

The staff here is wonderful: very friendly without being overbearing. Service was consistently on point, which really made the stay more enjoyable.

The overall beach setup is actually very well done and the pool overlooking the ocean is absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the highlights of the property. It’s a great place to relax and take in the scenery, even if the beach itself isn’t ideal for swimming.

The room was spacious and very clean. The air conditioning worked well, and the bed was comfortable...great for getting a good night’s rest.

Stayed here 6 nights, absolutely loved it!

Beach
- 30 feet water to door
- kayaks, paddleboards, water shoes, etc. kayaked each day, and always got equipment
- BEST place overall was 2 hammocks at end of the pier!
Maintenance
- many other properties have 'sargasso' problems - thick, smelly, decaying seaweed
- Casa Altamar shovels and removes sargasso daily to keep beach clean
- similar diligence cleaning bird poop off pier, vs other nearby hotels
Staff
- Arturo, Javier, Armin, and others all excellent!
- learned our names, food preferences, assisted concerning sites, or refilling bottles
- spoke English at least as well as my Spanish :)
Restaurant
- AMAZING! small menu, but everything *fresh*, well-prepared and presented
- favs are tacos arracheras, skirt steak, and everything shrimp
- directly above our room - but closes at 9:30PM. happy whole area quiet by 10PM
Couple negatives
- room advertised as having kitchenette, balcony, and 'laptop compatible safe'
- no kitchen, or even mini-fridge in room
- tiny (3 sq ft) area outside a sliding door just to hang clothes to dry
- safe fits passports or smartphones max. not anchored, and weighs 5 pounds

That I'm giving a 5-star review despite the issues says a lot about how great Casa Altamar is. These issues need fixed - with the room, or the listing.

However, the property is just so stellar in general.
Would definitely want to stay here again next time in Tulum!
