We had afternoon tea, it was very disappointing and not worth the £35 each. The selection was boring, bland and not anywhere near an afternoon tea. I think this hotel is missing a point here, a really good afternoon would go down well at a hotel like this. It was empty and I now know why! We wish now we went to M & S and did it for ourselves at half the price!
Location is great, but we found the hotel a little corporate and not what I would describe as 5 star. I’m starting to realise that 5 stars are awarded for available amenities and not for service and quality.
Half way through booking in, the receptionist just started talking to another member of staff and left us standing there. In the end a lovely receptionist from Bolton (as we had a chat) realised we’d just been left and booked us in. She also gave us a congratulations card and some chocolates as we got married the day before which was really nice. The room was ok, but not what I would describe as 5 star. Marks in various places on the carpet. A shower that you couldn’t alter the angle of as the pipe was against the wall. An extractor that you had to turn to open and activate. My wife couldn’t reach it at all, this may explain the mould in the corner and around the shower cubicle. The restaurant had bare wooden tables akin to pub tables. Not 5 stars, and sadly we will not return.
This is a lovely hotel, with all the features you would expect, including beautiful lakeside grounds, plenty of parking, easy walking distance to Grasmere.
Paradise of the lake district and the boat on Lake Windermere was lovely and now you want a greedy description beyond what I wish to say
We decided to treat ourselves and paid an awful lot for a room (£300) with a lake view. Admittedly we did get a lake view but we were put on the first floor so our view was also of a huge gazebo. It was so low down that it felt that people could easily look into our room. The air con was noisy so we couldn’t leave it on all night. When initially arriving it was mentioned that we’d be on the third floor so I’m assuming we were assigned someone else’s rejected room. Bloodying annoying when you pay so much. The man on reception was very helpful and the breakfast was lovely, however someone also randomly charged their spa treatment to our room, which is concerning. I’m afraid I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
Stayed here many years ago when it had just been refurbished as the daffodil hotel. Love it then so decided to come back for a 2 night stay.
Checked into our room with no issues however when we went to use the tap in the bathroom the whole top came off. Advised reception & was fixed straight away but later went to switch the bedside lamp on & not working so contacted reception again. A member of staff came up & after numerous attempts to try & rectify this, it was ascertained that the socket the light was plugged onto had been switched off (this was not obvious to us as right under the bedside table).
I pointed out to the member of staff that it was not a good start to our relaxing break that 2 things were not right.
The member of staff did apologise but felt they were trying to justify these things by saying 'mistakes happen' I highlighted that these things surely should have been checked beforehand (especially the tap, as there is no way cleaners could of used this without it coming off)
Anyway the location is very scenic on the lake & very convenient for grasmere village & ambleside.
Breakfast was good & staff friendly. Spa facilities ok but quite basic.
Since our first stay I do feel attention to detail is lacking. There were numerous stains on the carpets & walls throughout the hotel & the majority of pictures were not straight.
For the price we paid i would have expected a bit more.
The staff were absolutely fantastic. Breakfast lovely. We had two dinners. Those were good. But someone needs to come in with an industrial carpet cleaner. We arrived on a Wednesday and couldn’t find anywhere to get a drink but we realised we had to go back to the restaurant. Had a feeling of not enough staff. But the restaurant service and staff were 2nd to none. Bedroom was a lovely size and nice touches.
The carpets.
الموقع والاطلاله جميله
الغرفه كانت جيده احسن من الصور
السرير والمخده كانو مو احسن شي 😔
Very good breakfast, large rooms with comfy beds.
All quite shabby, could do with a renovation. Seemed expensive.
Room and restaurant were both fabulous but the Hotel Manager was poor.
Our first visit. Celebrating my wife’s birthday. Everything was great except somehow bizarrely half a dozen cigarettes were unknowingly put into our kettle on first day. Understandably it tasted awful. Complained to manager and showed him what had happened. No reaction. On departure I enquired again and he said he was still investigating and would get back to us. Still waiting one month on. Weird experience and less than satisfactory reaction from the Manager.
Everything at Daffodil hotel was amazing, comfortable, bright rooms, a beautiful setting & views of the lake/ mountains. Peaceful location with easy access to the best parts of Lake District. I don’t holiday in UK preferring to go abroad, but this was a pleasant surprise, thank you!
A great location to see the lakes
