We stayed at this hotel for one evening midweek. Upon our arrival at about 11am, the people working in reception were not particularly warm or welcoming, somewhat brusquely explaining to us that our room was not yet available, even though we did not ask for our room, nor did we expect it to be ready that early. Instead, we asked if we could check our bags at the bell desk, and said we’d be back at the regular check-in time of 4pm.
When we returned at around 4:30, there was only one person at the reception desk, although there were 4 people ahead of us. While we waited, my friend decided to get our luggage at the bell desk, and literally waited for a full 10 minutes until someone finally showed up to get our luggage—there was absolutely no one at that desk. Meanwhile, the receptionist, who clearly saw my friend waiting, made no effort to look for or call the bellman. Clearly this hotel is understaffed or uninterested in welcoming guests properly. When it was finally my turn for check-in, there was some confusion about my having a room even though I’d confirmed it that morning when we arrived. Finally we got our luggage and room, but there was no apology at all for the wait. Not a great check-in experience.
The room itself was average at best, and quite dark because it faced the back. The bathroom was tired and in need of refurbishment. It was clean however, but not at all fresh.
The hotel lobby is minimal with no real place to sit down (other than maybe 2 simple chairs by the elevator). As a result, there’s nowhere to really relax if you’re waiting or meeting other guests.
Other than a relatively convenient midtown location, there’s nothing about this hotel or its staff that would make me want to return.
The staff were super friendly and accommodating, bed was really comfortable, and the room was super clean!
I also loved that it was close to the park for my morning runs and walks!
spacious suite, good desk
tvs are small for the current era
Stayed here recently after seeing the high ratings. The location on Lexington is excellent.
But the experience didn't match what I was expecting. I checked in late at night and there was very little in the way of a welcome or greeting — felt transactional. No water bottles in the room, which is pretty standard at this tier. The room itself felt a bit run down — carpet and decor showing their age. Other reviews mention a 2019 renovation but it wasn't obvious from what I saw.
Not a bad hotel. But given the ratings, I expected more.
My wife and I recently stayed at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan for 3 nights. As it was a special anniversary, we were treated to a nice upgrade to a suite and a "Congratulations" bottle of Champagne and fruit. This hotel always delivers with a friendly staff, cleanliness and excellent housekeeping. So convenient to everything without being in the center of the Times Square crowds. As repeat guests, we will definitely be back on our next trip to the city!
This is a classic location. It has its quirks, but those are all charming.
Great experience and very accommodating staff
Nothing
Over the past three years we have stayed at the Fitzpatrick at least 6 times. We love it!! From the welcoming staff to the lovely comfortable rooms- beds are great!!! We travel to NYC at least twice a year and there is never any question about where we will stay. It truly feels like a home away from home. Location is great!!
location, great hotel and staff.
Excellent location, staff friendly and very helpful.
Myself and my husband recently stayed for five nights at the Fitzpatrick Manhattan Hotel and had the most amazing experience from start to finish. Everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations, but what truly made our stay so special was the incredible staff. Every single member of the team was warm, friendly, welcoming and genuinely accommodating throughout our visit.
A very special mention has to go to the General Manager, Chris, whose Irish charm and hospitality absolutely stood out. He went above and beyond to ensure we had such a memorable stay and made us feel completely at home in the heart of Manhattan. He even sent us home with two Teddy Bears for our babies at home.
The hotel itself is perfectly located on Lexington Avenue, comfortable, full of character and has such a lovely atmosphere. It felt like a home away from home.
Thank you to the entire team for making our trip so special. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York. A true 5-star experience!
Great location, easy to get to. Clean, spacious rooms. Easy check-in.
The room was extremely cold and nothing could be changed about that - no heating in the room, and noisy air con managed centrally by the hotel. We had to ask for many extra blankets; and got cold very fast in the room.
Hot water took a long time to come and the overall water pressure was low - not great for showering.
Excellent location and spotless clean
Good location, spacious room
Poor sound insulation .
Fridge in room couldn’t be set: every liquid turned into ice
Amazing hotel! Amazing experience!!!
