A posh hotel with posh nosh
Pros:

The hotel was adorned with lot's of history, big paintings, antiques and original features. All the staff were friendly and helpful from reception to restaurant staff. And when we asked if there is a lift, we were told no. So we were moved to the ground floor in a executive room. The bed was very large and extremely comfortable. Although the dinner was expensive, it was a special meal with wine and the evening was perfect. The hotel is in a very central location. We will return again.

Cons:

When driving to the hotel the postcode took us to the front, and the town and area is very busy with a lot of one- way streets, and for those who doesn't know the area it can get very frustrating. It would be a good idea to give customers to the hotel the carpark postcode.

It was a mixed experience.
Pros:

Staff helpful and welcoming and our luggage was taken to the room for us- just as well as it was on the second floor with no lifts and 4 flights of stairs. Charming decor, art works on walls and a pleasant atmosphere in the bar once we were strategically placed to avoid the domineering TV screens. Very good car park and hotel well placed for the town centre.

Cons:

A big issue for us was our being allocated a room on the second floor. The hotel seemed very quiet and we wondered why this was the case. My husband is 81 and I'm nearly 79 so stairs are a bit of an issue. We were helped on arrival but had to bring the luggage down ourselves. I suppose we could have asked but we are used to independence. The breakfast was very poor - orange dispenser nearly empty, no dried fruits/bread, cheap muesli and stale pastries (I opted out of the cooked breakfast, no comment on that aspect of course-and payment was demanded on entry and I'd come down from the room without money (my husband had opted out). I'm afraid I made a bit of a fuss so eventually it was agreed that I pay on departure as is normal in every other hotel we've been in. The prospect of slogging up those wretched stairs for money was just too daunting. Also not very sound proof - guests arrived in their room at midnight and continued to talk audibly at times for quite some time on our first night. So a mixed experience I'm afraid.

Pros:

It's quite very good place to stay very close to city center everything you need is just close to you

Cons:

I think it's important for them to put a lift so people who have some issues can be able to get to their room

Cons:

Very disturbing experience as the hotel duplicated our room key to another couple and after complaining the duty manager did not seem to care won't be staying there again

Good hotel, value for money.
Pros:

Stayed for two nights, room was adequate good value for money, breakfast good and excellent location. All the staff were most helpful and courteous, would recommend this hotel for short break.

Cons:

As this is a very old hotel, there was no lift, which was a problem for someone with limited mobility. This should have been pointed out so that a ground floor bedroom could have been booked.

Great location, but room was tired and not value for money.
Pros:

Excellent location, friendly staff, clean room and communal areas. There was also lots of spaces for parking. Please note, there is a different postcode for parking, do confirm with the hotel, otherwise it will take you to the front of the hotel.

Cons:

Dated carpets, furniture and very tired room. The tiles in the bathroom were broken, the shower tap was broken and the toilet was blocked. We stayed in an executive room, the flooring surrounding the seat was lifting off the floor, which was a trip hazard. Over all, the room was not value for money. If we were staying for more than one night, we would not recommend staying here as we wouldn’t.
