Good old world feel and less souless than the modern chains.
The desk welcome was polite, professional and helpful. The decor was presentable as was the room
Had some friendly chats with bar staff
Good choice of food at breakfast. And represented good value
The breakfast service was inefficient
Despite the menu promises, i had to ask for a hot drink and toast. The menu itself is not well presented.
Several staff walked past or near me clearing and wiping down tables. Even the person who checked table numbers etc. Staff weren't delegated a group of tables to be responsible for. So nobody took responsibility. Some staff wandering around not being directed.
My bedroom was stiflingly hot and airless. The radiator was off in the room. Was if in the rest of the hotel. And the temperature that day was normal for July. Unlike the previous week or so
The car park entrance wasnt easy to find.
I had to stop on the street run inside and reception man gave me a map
I noticed parking charges were levied. But I couldnt see that mentioned on Booking.com. i phoned to check the location but not made clear. So I was relieved when the reception staff assured me it was free parking for residents
Lovely building, friendly helpful staff, nice food, close to shops and cathedral
Room was very hot but a fan was provided so it was ok
The hotel was really nice
The staff all seemed a little stressed and also we drove round 3 times to find entrance for hotel carpark before we called reception who was semi helpful
Central to get to buses and trains, near places to eat and shops. Said small double but was pleasantly surprised at how big it was. Definitely stay there again and recommended it to others I work with.
They weren’t able to print me out a receipt but was informed they would email me.
Good location
Worst nights sleep in a hotel in the UK
You sold me an aircon room - it was one of the hottest days of the year . Room was not airconditioned as your system was wrong - wrong desciption.
Hotel is very central in town close to shops , bars and restaurants. Staff are very friendly breakfast was excellent
MEAL AND BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD
WE STAYED IN ROOM 264, NO AIR CONDITIONING ! IT WAS EXTREMLY HOT AND UNBEARABLE LIKE BEING IN A SAUNA
THERE WAS A FAN BUT JUST CIRCULATED HOT AIR ! SO A TERRBILE NIGHTS SLEEP IT WAS SO HOT AND STUFFY
COULD HARDLY BREATH
Building had a nice feel about it, staff were professional, nice bar and large car park. Rooms ok for the price.
No hook for clothes in the bathroom, shower controls a but awkward.
Great location, extremely quiet, good breakfast
Wifi a bit suspect
Good location
No air con but was advertised with it.
Staff took a long time to answer at the front desk.
Long wait for invoice for the stay.
Friendly and helpful staff
The door entrance card didn’t always work had to change it several times
The staff were lovely and polite
No lift. Being somewhat disabled i was placed on the top floor and no lift. I was offered help with my bags but i don’t like to impose. So i struggled. No air con in rooms either. I understand that the building is extremely old but it was awful with this heatwave. I did have a fan in my room tho.
Everything. The building was well situated. The decor was beautiful. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. We didn't use the bar but it looked comfortable and clean.
Just one small thing: the car park isn't easy to find.
