Lovely boutique hotel with great location, wonderful rooms, friendly and helpful staff everywhere. Great complementary amenities, including wine & charcuterie in evening; breakfast served in your room, the rooftop lounge (weather permitting), or lobby breakfast area; M & M's, Skittles, lemonade, iced tea, coffee/tea, and fresh fruit, plus bottled water; AND cookies & milk later in the evening. Good view of fountain, waterfront, and park from many rooms. AND, within a short walk from many sights, and 2 blocks of a dozen great restaurants, to boot!
We LOVED this place, so much fun. Julia and Jonathan were FANTASTIC!!!!
Can't wait to visit again

We've stayed in nice hotels during our four trips to Charleston, but by far the Harbourview Inn is our favorite. It's an inn with all the benefits of a B&B, but with the privacy of a small hotel. Luxury beds, linens, and contemporary decor done with a comfortable Southern flair--it's not a cookie-cutter chain.
Breakfast was served in our room, in the atrium, or on nice days the rooftop terrace--your choice. Quiches, flakey buttery croissants, cinnamon rolls (the best), fruit, carafes of hot beverages served in your room on a table for two. You can even eat it in bed as you watch the sun rise over the Cooper River. At night there's wine, cheese, including Brie, hummus, fruit, and vegetables served at 5:00 pm in the lobby. There are also cookies and milk at 9:00 pm. Alas, we were in our jammies by then.
Across the street is the waterfront park with its fountains including the landmark Pineapple Fountain, as well as a pier that features swings for adults. No car-no problem. Right across the street a local free bus that comes about every ten minutes. Its route takes you to all the main attractions in the historic district. Excellent restaurants, including our favorite Magnolia's, are around the corner on East Bay Street. There's an ice cream store next door as well as a funky dive pub.
Unlimited coffee, tea, lemonade, and iced tea are served throughout the day in the atrium and there is a refrigerator in the lobby with free bottles of water. I almost forgot--the highlight of the trip for my husband--there are gum ball machines in the lobby that dispense plain and peanut M&Ms. We had tiny cups of M&Ms scattered all over our room. It was a close to being at home, yet away, as we've ever felt in Charleston.
We absolutely loved the Harbourview Inn. The room was very spacious with a large bathroom and walk in shower. Nice bedding, nice fixtures in the room. I think our favorite things were some of the extras like the evening wine and cheese reception, milk & cookies around and breakfast. For breakfast, each day you fill out a menu and choose a time for delivery to your room (or I believe to the lobby). There were a variety of breads, bagel, croissants, quiches, juices, cereals, fruits, coffee and tea, etc. Every evening from 5-6p there was a wine and cheese reception with a variety of wines, cheeses, meats (salami, prosciutto….) and fruits. Perhaps our favorite was the Milk and Cookies from 9-10p. Warm cookies (chocolate chip, sugar, chocolate-chocolate chip….) and really cold milk. Delicious. We thought this was the cutest touch. All day there was ice tea, lemonade and a flavored water available. I think there was coffee and tea too (I think this was all day, but I am not positive).
The location is perfect for a first timers like we were. Beautiful view of the harbor, directly across the street from Waterfront Park - 2 minute walk to the Pineapple Fountain. Maybe 3-5 minutes from Rainbow Row, 5-10 to the Charleston City Market. A lot of the well-known restaurants were within a 5 minute walk too (Magnolia, SNOB, High Cotton, Ruby Sunshine, Revival). We loved walking around and seeing all the beautiful nearby houses and the waterfront.
Valet was always really fast. Charleston is a wonderful city, very clean, very friendly. The Harbourview Inn will make your stay even better. I can’t wait to return.
Note - the website mentions the construction across the street. I appreciated that this was pointed out, but honestly, we saw construction but couldn’t hear it from the room (3rd floor) and barely noticed it when outside.
We love staying at the HarbourView Inn in Charleston, SC. The staff is friendly and very helpful especially the front desk staff. There is no restaurant on site but who needs one with so many fabulous places within walking distance. Included in the room rate is breakfast delivered to your room, a daily wine and cheese reception and warm cookies at night. Our home away from home while we are in Charleston.
Room was a good size and the location was terrific.
Some of the front desk staff were not as kind as others. One night happy hour staff poured wine and was snide about leaving a tip. First night we poured wine and there was no tip jar. Interesting.
Close to all activities around Charleston
We were both covered with bites. Hoping it was from being outside? No wifi. We heard multiple guests complaining.
The location is within walking distance to dining, shopping, and local attractions. The rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are super comfortable. The staff is super friendly.
The only thing we missed was we couldn’t log into streaming services in the evenings.
Customer service was top notch! Wonderful way to celebrate an anniversary. The location and view from the room was amazing. Plus, all the extras made the stay here just perfect. Thank you!
Nothing!
The facility and location. The staff was very friendly.
No one told us you had to fill out a card for breakfast, and there's nowhere just to go get it. They did give us free parking for the inconvenience.
We stayed at the HarbourView February 22-24 . We were originally only booked for one night, but with the Blizzard of 2026 slamming into the exact coast, our flight home was cancelled and we needed to stay another night. When I called to extend our stay the front desk worked its magic and was able to keep us it the same room for the extra night. When we checked in, Jonathan at the front desk welcomed us and not only apologized for the elevator being out of service ( we were in the 4th floor), but he comped our valet parking. When he found out it was my husband’s birthday, he then gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. When we walked into our beautiful room, complete with fireplace and balcony, there was a bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket! The breakfast was wonderful, with many options and afternoon cocktails very relaxing. The late night cookies and milk were a perfect end to each day. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and offered help if needed. We will definitely stay here again!
A belated thank you to the staff at the HarbourView Inn for their wonderful customer service. I recently brought a small group to Charleston for a culinary tour. The front desk team was flexible and attentive as I arranged the rooms months before the trip and took care of all the details during our stay. A special shout out to Melony, Jodi, Jonathan, and Douglas! The charming hotel rooms were spacious, comfy and sparkling clean. And the historic harbor location can't be beat. I would definitely stay here again.
We loved our experience at the HarbourView Inn. Beautiful spot with amazing views from the pleasant staff, wonderful breakfast to wine and charcuterie spread at 5pm each night to the milk and cookies in the evening we were treated wonderfully! Highly recommend!
Nice sized room with good view and 2 queen beds. Seeing dolphins swimming in harbour from room. Excellent location. Enjoyed the afternoon wine and cheese and evening cookies.
The lift was out of order.
