Pros:

Beautiful hotel, its been a while since we've stayed. The staff, for the most part, were been helpful and professional, the younger staff are a Credit to the hotel.

Cons:

I really struggled with the walk to our room because of my mobility issues, and the room was definitely not to the standard expected compared to previous visits, and at breakfast this morning the waiting staff were not great(the young girl was so nice, but the two older women were not)

Spa Day
Pros:

We have just returned from our Afternoon Bliss spa day. We had an amazing time and the price was very reasonable, the food in the restaurant was very nice and the cocktails were nice although basic.

The spa staff were so friendly and had a lovely relaxing atmosphere. We had the full body scrub treatment and thoroughly enjoyed it - sorry i can’t remember the ladies name that did mine but she had long brown hair, she was very good at her job. The spa garden was lovely and well maintained, we used all the facilities and enjoyed a glass of prosecco in the hot tub.

The only thing i would say to improve would be having a waiter service in the garden so you didn’t have to walk all the way back to reception to get a drink, we only had one drink because of this. The bar staff in the hotel could have been a bit more friendly too, a smile and a chat would have been nice :)

Overall very good experience, we would definitely recommend and return. Thank you!

Avoid - Absolute dive with awful customer service
Pros:

Be warned the photos are total false advertising. They do not represent the hotel at all. The rooms were disgusting, pubic hair on the sheets, threadbare carpets, broken lampshades and so run down. We were allocated rooms in the 1970s blocks at the back of the hotel. We were informed on arrival that there was a wedding going on and that the hotel would be noisy until midnight we were not informed about this before we arrived. We were told if we had booked direct we would have been made aware but because we booked through booking.com they did not inform us. We tried to go to the bar but the hotel was overrun with wedding guests and it was impossible to get served or to get a table. At this point we spoke to the hotel and requested that given the state of the rooms and the wedding situation we would like to leave and get a refund for our rooms. There was not a chance in hell they were going to refund us and told us to take it up through booking.com. Booking.com have tried for 3 days to get the hotel to refund us and agreed with our photographic evidence that we should have been refunded. The hotel is still refusing to give us even a partial refund. It is the worst customer service I have ever received. We moved hotel to Headlam Hall Hotel who were the complete antithesis of this and went out of their way to rescue our weekend. The most welcoming and customer focused hotel with gorgeous rooms, incredible views, amazing food. Do yourself a massive favour and book there instead.

Absolutely nothing! It’s a total dump and the worst customer experience I have ever had!

Beautiful & peaceful
Pros:

Beautiful venue with a lovely atmosphere. Scott, our waiter, was fantastic and looked after us exceptionally well throughout our visit. We came for afternoon tea, and everything was beautifully presented, with elegant bone china already set out on the table. It made the experience feel extra special. We’ll definitely be back to try the spa next time!

Pros:

What a lovely experience I had with my friend, we have a breakfast which was of a very high standard, a relaxing swim in the pool, jacuzzi and went into steam room followed by a luxurious facial which made me feel so relaxed.

Beautiful spa and had the most amazing facial, definitely recommend
Pros:

Had an amazing morning at the spa, left feeling super relaxed and rejuvenated. The garden spa is a beautiful spot to chill between treatments. The hot tubs were excellent.
I'd definitely recommend a facial. It was one of the best I've ever had.

Lovely Hotel
Pros:

I booked the hotel for its location. I was visiting family. It was great in all aspects. Only downside for me was that there was no air conditioning in the bedroom. Wouldn't normally be a problem but with the nights being so hot it took a while to get off to sleep. The hotel were good, they did provide me with a fan which helped.

Excellent break, would go back.
Pros:

Excellent location, good food, the spa is a bonus.

Cons:

TV wouldn't connect to the WiFi. No big deal but you would expect it to work these days.

Would definitely come back, but might check whether there is a wedding on first
Pros:

Lovely setting. - room was really clean - the spa was a nice touch with good facilities. Think a lot of rooms were occupied were by the wedding party, so that meant the spa was quiet. Most staff were really nice, not enough staff on the bar. Breakfast was nice, and not too busy.

Cons:

There was a wedding during our stay, which is fine but it wasn’t really in a separate area. It was awkward having to pass through the wedding party (who were taking photos etc) to get to our room with our case, then back to the bar etc equally as awkward for the wedding party who must have had randoms appearing throughout the day - found that really odd. Also, due to the wedding, there wasn’t anywhere to relax with a couple of drinks in the evening. The small bar, which is more a holding area for the restaurant didn’t have any music and the tv volume was off, wedding party guests seemed to have preferential treatment there despite having two other bars allocated to them - staff were busy and frequently just ignored people at the bar, rather than acknowledging they were there. it wasn’t very relaxing considering it was spa break and night away. Limited parking spaces, had issue on arrival as car park full.

5* Spa Day Treat
Pros:

Booked a spa day with treatment (full body massage) at Blackwell Grange and what a fabulous day we had, the facilities were 5 star with everything you could think of. The spa treatment was excellent and the best massage I’ve ever had. We had breakfast in the hotel as part of our package, which offered plenty of choices. We hadn’t booked lunch or afternoon tea but whilst we were there we asked if they could fit us in and the staff were extremely helpful to allow us to have afternoon tea outside in the glorious sunshine which was delicious. Overall we had the most fantastic day and all the staff were very helpful and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend Blackwell Grange for a spa day treat!!
