Good location for exploring area and Harrogate. Nice surprise to get a room upgrade. Clean Classical look to the rooms. Very comfortable bed. Very good shower over bath. Breakfast had everything needed hot or cold.

Room was awful.
At first it seemed like such a beautiful hotel and wedding venue.
We were given room 333. So it was the absolute top floor. As we took the stairs up each floor it got progressively less nice.
The room was very dated, the decor clearly hadn't been changed since the 90s.
It was also not cleaned. Everything just seemed to be hanging on. The window was broken. The bathroom had clearly been retiled and new sink and shower fitted which was great. But the rest of the room was quite uncomfortable. No Aircon, window didn't open due to being broken so not great.
The door to the room was a serious issue. Massive gap under it. Felt like a cubicle and just didn't feel private.
Looked great online, not good in person.
For £170 a night, just not good and pretty grim.
All in all it just seemed as though the floor we were on had only just been re opened or had been decommissioned for a long time. It was so odd and not nice.
Well situated for exploring Harrogate.

Some areas such as bathrooms are a little tired
Waiting quite a while to check in because the person on the desk was on the phone to another customer but did not even acknowledge us on arrival. Just a small nod and eye contact would have done.
Good location. Nice old fashioned hotel. On the whole staff was friendly.
We booked the room in plenty of time, but were given a room with a view of a backyard and had to pay £60 more to get an upgrade to a better room. Hotel could do with some warm lighting instead of glaring cold.
As guests staying in the hotel, for 3 nights, we weren’t impressed with having to pay £12 per night to park in the hotel car park.
Breakfast was EXCELLENT! The bath in our en-suite was great and was the fastest filling bath we’ve ever seen!
The bathroom could do with touching up some of the paint and sealant (an hours work at the most). A few signs in the corridors asking other guests to be quiet when returning late to their rooms. We were woken up at least 8 times between 11pm and 3am by selfish / thoughtless guests having loud conversations in the corridors!
It had character
It was totally unsuitable for disabled guests, made more so by the chief receptionist refusing to accommodate our needs. Instead of putting us in a room close to a lift, he placed us in a room the absolute furthest away. This made us experience extreme pain going to and from the room.

First room we were offered had a badly cracked hand basin in the bathroom,we refused to stay in it and they upgraded us to a better room our son’s bedroom had a very bad bed and the only room they could offer had only just been repainted and the fumes made him feel unwell
I object having to pay £12 to park our car
Spacious room, no view but didn't mind that.
I booked this,probably 6 months before, on check-in we were given all the information we needed about the room, where the lift was, etc., and car parking, which wass then paid for. There was nothing hinted that the room included breakfast(no mention of the timings and where it was to be served). So we assumed like on many occasions it was not included. Partly my fault? I should have checked, but didn't until we were sat in a cafe having just paid £37.50 for two breakfasts and sat waiting for it to be delivered.Cost caused half from my lapse and but also not being offered the information at check-in. We enjoyed the lovely included breakfast on the second morning.
Lovely stay at this historic hotel which is close to everything we wanted. Nice big room, we had a superior room . Plenty of parking and parking fees were normal for Harrogate hotels. Very welcoming and professional staff . A really enjoyable stay.
Roadworks on the main road causing slight detour to the hotel.
Period property. Excellent location. Friendly and efficient staff. Comfortable bed.
Furniture in rooms needs replacing.
