Absolutely the worst experience I could ever live. Springy mattress, old fashioned rooms, extremely loud surroundings. I can’t believe this is £250 I would barely pay £10 what a disgrace
The decor and location
The staff were terrible no one smiled it looked like they didn't want to work there. Had to wait over an hour for our dinner. They did apologise and didn't charge us.
Spacious room, very nice lounge area. The lady serving in the lounge was charming.
The entrance to the hotel is not fit for purpose. For such a grand hotel to use it's rear door as the main entrance is bonkers - it's shabby, bad for difficult for baggage and impossible for the the disabled. The staff in the spa were grumpy and unpleasant.
Lovely hotel as it was so hot the air con was an added bonus for an older style hotel.

Phenomenal for the price, couldn’t believe how nice it was for how little I paid compared to everywhere else we stayed across the UK. Great spa, location, food and service.
No free parking, but still convenient paid parking on site.
TLDR: Friendly staff, quiet comfort, spacious and elegant rooms, and great location.
Staff: My husband and I arrived early the day of our check in and the staff were incredibly welcoming, took our luggage, and brought it up to our room at the time of check-in. During our stay, everyone--from the housekeeping staff, hospitality staff, and others greeted us, asked if we needed anything, and made us feel comfortable.
Property: We only stayed in York for one night, and didn't get the opportunity to explore much, but the seating and dining areas looked absolutely lovely. The property was well kept, secure, and clean.
Room: The room was luxurious and comfortable. We slept so well! There was ample room for our luggage, wardrobes to hang our clothes, seating, and more. The bathroom also had a walk-in steam shower, heated towel warmer, and ample vanity space. We were amazed at how well lit the room was, quickly we had hot water, and overall amenities.
Location: It's right next to the train station, which made it very easy to arrive and enter, dropping our bags to explore the city. However close to the station, it's still very quiet. It's also very walkable to town. It was just a few minutes and we were at restaurants, shops, and York Minster.
Very polite and professional staff on reception and dining. Big shout out to the staff, very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful hotel as to decor and cleanliness
Shower leaked, drinks cupboard door broken, air con stopped working (hottest day). We were given fans but too noisy for nighttime. Female staff on reception all looked miserable. Shame our 2 night stay wasn't great as hotel is gorgeous.
Beautiful old station hotel right by the platforms (but no train noise). Tastefully updated with a stunning central staircase. Beautiful views of York Minster and easily walkable into town. Room was comfortable with aircon, luxury sheets and toiletries. Great breakfast and helpful, attentive staff. Nice spa too.
Breakfast room was a little crowded with tables quite close together.

The receptionists were excellent, very helpful. I checked out and had left some special shampoo and conditioning in the shower room. I rang as l was still in York and the receptionist said yes we have found it. I was delighted and couldn't praise them enough. The hotel was very grand and the rooms were beautiful. We will definitely stay in The Milner again.
