Stay was fine but not what was expected for the cost

Great staff, lovely grounds to walk around

Cons:

The rooms are basic, need a decor refresh and general dusting. The cost for 1 night was not reflective of the experience. For €284, a lot more expected.

Odore di muffa; pochi confort; arrivati alle 21.30 impossibile cenare e mangiare qualunque cosa. So che è prassi in Irlanda ma con quella cifra qualcosa di più si potrebbe fare. Anche la colazione era molto molto scadente.

Cons:

No fridge in room. No bottled water provided apparently because the hotel is being environmentally aware. Reality: pay for that environmentally unsound bottled water from the machine at the end of corridor. No fan provided when requested. Reason given - fans already in use in other rooms.

Ein charmantes, inhabergeführtes Hotel mit ganz eigenem Charakter, ehrlicher irischer Gastfreundschaft und wohltuend fer
Pros:

Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel von Anfang an unglaublich wohlgefühlt. Es hatte genau diese besondere Mischung aus irischer Gastfreundschaft und einer gewissen englischen Eleganz, die den Aufenthalt einfach besonders gemacht hat. Ja, das Hotel ist sicherlich ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen – aber genau das macht auch einen großen Teil seines Charmes aus. Es wirkt angenehm traditionell und überhaupt nicht austauschbar oder übermodern. Die dicken Teppiche, die klassische Einrichtung und dieses leicht altmodische, aber sehr gemütliche Ambiente haben dafür gesorgt, dass man sich wirklich in Irland gefühlt hat – und nicht in irgendeinem beliebigen Hipster-Hotel.

Besonders hervorheben möchten wir das junge Team. Die Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter haben sich unfassbar viel Mühe gegeben und waren jederzeit freundlich, engagiert und aufmerksam. Gerade an einem Abend hatte man das Gefühl, dass sie personell etwas allein gelassen wurden – und trotzdem haben sie die Situation wirklich großartig gemeistert. Man merkt einfach, wie viel Potenzial in diesem Team steckt. Mit noch etwas mehr Unterstützung und Begleitung durch erfahrene Ausbilder könnte daraus ein absolutes Spitzenteam werden. Denn man kann letztlich nur so gut sein, wie man ausgebildet wird – und dafür haben sie das wirklich beeindruckend gemacht.

Auch die Lage des Hotels hat uns gut gefallen. Galway ist fußläufig erreichbar, was den Aufenthalt sehr angenehm gemacht hat. Das Restaurant war richtig gut, der Service insgesamt absolut in Ordnung, und trotz kleinerer Details, bei denen noch etwas Luft nach oben ist, überwiegt ganz klar das Positive. Natürlich merkt man bei einem so großen Hotel mit vielen Gästen hier und da kleine Schwächen – aber das ist absolut verzeihbar.

Ja, das Hotel ist etwas hellhörig, aber angesichts der insgesamt so positiven Erfahrung fällt das kaum ins Gewicht. Für uns war es ein Aufenthalt mit ganz viel Atmosphäre, Charme und echtem irischen Gefühl.

Comfortable stay at a family owned classic
Pros:

Classic, vintage hotel that is a bit rough around the edges but comfortable with a wide variety of amenities. Pub atmosphere and service is excellent and the food in bothe restaurant and pub is high quality at competitive prices.

Best hotel in Galway
Pros:

My favourite hotel. Always stay here in Galway and staff are so good food is good facilities are good and they are very flexible around things like room availability and leaving my bikes upstairs etc. Overall fantastic example to other hotels
