Nice pub and restaurant below and good location
Shower didn’t work properly and small double bed
The hotel had parking which is always a bonus. The room was clean and the bed comfortable .
The reception and bar decor was a bit dark for my liking but overall a good stay.
they changed our room for a cooler room on the ground floor.
Staff were lovely and very helpful and the food was good. Feels like a good place to eat regularly. Bed was comfortable.
1. Our room was by a large noisy aircon duct which was on most of the evening and started again next morning with the start of the breakfast serving. Bathroom very cramped had to squeeze round tbe basin to get to the toilet. Thank goodness for noise cancelling headphones. 2. Although the kitchen stocked soya and oat milk there was no dairy free spread available even though I had been assured on checking in the night before that there would be no problem. Not all breakfast / brunch items on the menu available, a lot of items seemed to be missing as we listened to other tables ordering as well as ourselves.
3. TV although a good size was aerial only with poor reception so v few channels to watch.
4. Kettle and mugs in room but no tea/coffee
Were we meant to order from the restaurant or bring our own?
5. Hotel seems to be an afterthought tacked onto the catering side. If you try to book on their own website there are no rooms available but if you go to e.g. booking.com they magically appear.
The room was clean and fresh. The bar was lovely and the putside space stunning
Nothing to not like..
Location
Room needs a revamp, electrics were a bit worrying
Everything
The shower
Only the location
Room was dreadful it was very tatty the ensuite was very tired badly needs a makeover. The window in the room would not open it was like a sauna currently all over UK we are experiencing extreme temperatures, not being able to open a window is poor also a health risk. If there had been a fire it doesn't bear thinking about. Didn't get any sleep there wasn't a top bedsheet only a blanket. There were 2 fans and they were useless.
The breakfast was poor the choice was limited, no fresh orange fruit or yogurt.
The accommodation is rated on booking.com as 3 stars. I would rate it at a maximum of 1 star.
The breakfast was OK and bar facilities considering late arrival were good.
I was in room 16 (top floor) and the day had been hot probably full sunshine. I'm not sure because I had spent the whole day on cancelled and delayed trains from Scotland so I was not very happy. The temperature in the room was over 30C and still 27C in the morning. There was a large fan hiding in a cupboard which did help during the night. I do not recommend rooms on the top floor after a day of sunshine. Room facilities were good though for the price.
Didn't have Breakfast
The Douvey was heavy and very hot
Not applicable.
The room was uncomfortable due to heat. There was no fan. We only got given another room with fan because we insisted on getting a refund.
Convenient location for my business meeting. Plenty of parking spaces with shade, which in recent hot weather car wasn't like a sauna! Was dealt with promptly at reception. Good free Wifi network was able to collect emails and do general surfing. Room was clean and bathroom look like it had been recently fitted. Room although a bit small was equipped with a fan and the tea/coffee making facilities. I didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu had many options at reasonable prices.
The room was a little on the small side, and the ceiling was marked with possible water damage. Room price was okay though and it was clean. I stayed there during a heat wave and it was difficult to get a comfortable nights sleep. A fan by a window helped a bit, and as I only needed to stay one night didnt concern me too much. Doubt I would have been much more comfortable in a Premier Inn or similar TBH.
Location and off street parking.
We had breakfast on the first day. We ordered this at 8am but it was not served at the table until 09.40am.
Also the radiators in our room came on at night resulting in the room being ridiculously hot making sleeping a problem.
The hotel was externally very pretty and had a lovely dining and pub area. There was private parking. The room was a reasonable size and was clean.
The room needed some attention - when we entered, there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom. The security chain on the door was not fixed and fell off when applied. The bath is extremely slippery - there is a warning but perhaps mats should be supplied. Breakfast was a bit of a shambles - orders forgotten; no cutlery until requested; a cup provided without a saucer; and despite a long wait, my breakfast order was given to another guest in error!
Location to Train station
Room very small with small single bed.
Not great value for money particular with breakfast excluded.
