Very disappointing and I will never book there again
Pros:

Location

Cons:

I requested a twin room for me and my son. Booking.com messaged me a few weeks before to tell me this had been noted. I was called 5 hours before check in to tell me I could not have a twin. This is totally unacceptable. I would have booked elsewhere if I’d known. The hotel put a camp bed in my room. Again totally unacceptable for an adult. The mattress was so thin that you could feel every spring in it. The most uncomfortable sleepless night which spoilt the next day. So disappointed as this was an expensive hotel.
The food in the restaurant at dinner was very poor. Again I wished we had booked somewhere else for dinner. Very very underwhelmed by the food.

Lovely hotel, always a great stay
Pros:

We have stayed here a few times and had a lovely room in the basement garden area which was really big and spacious and the bathroom was huge. Everything was very clean and complementary toiletries are always of a good quality staff was super friendly and helpful and we had a really enjoyable stay we took our dog too and for an extra fee they provide dog bed treats and doggy poo bags.

Cons:

There was a wedding going on which was fine but we were opposite o a room of the Bridle party and people were coming and going into the early hours being very loud and a bit worse for wear so I had to get up and tell them to be quiet. Not the fault of the hotel, but we might have asked for another room had we known that was going to happen

Very disappointed with the overall condition of the property
Pros:

Location and terrace views.

Cons:

I have stayed at several Hotel du Vin properties around the UK, so I was looking forward to staying at the Avon Gorge. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the standard I’ve come to expect from the brand.

The location is unbeatable, and the terrace overlooking the Clifton Suspension Bridge offers spectacular views – it’s a wonderful place to enjoy a drink. However, the hotel itself feels very tired and is in need of refurbishment. The terrace furniture also seems chosen more for capacity during busy periods than to complement the character of the hotel.

Our bedroom window rattled throughout the night, and there was an unpleasant drain smell in the corridors. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but once the main bar closed at 9pm, there were long waits to be served at the much smaller bar.

I’ve been visiting Clifton for over 40 years and know the area well. Sadly, despite the fantastic location, I’ll be looking for alternative accommodation on my next visit.

An expensive one night away. Location is good.
Pros:

Great location for a stop on the way to Wales

Cons:

The outside terrace was grubby and food service closed early so no dinner available after 9pm. Bedroom was small. Breakfast was very average.
