Stayed in the Kyoto style room, so bright during the day even though we closed the window. Staffs were very friendly and
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and it was close to Kyoto Station so it was very convenient.

Cons:

The room was clean, but I saw molds in the bathroom (grout and shower head holder). It kind of shows that it was old, but overall it was a big and comfortable room.

Great location, breakfast, and friendly staff, but dated "authentic" rooms and constant extra charge
Pros:

The shared areas and the rooms are clean, and breakfast was amazing. The location is excellent and central - bus stops and Kyoto Station are just a few steps away. The staff were friendly throughout.

Cons:

I was very disappointed with the outdated Kyoto-style rooms. I booked them specifically to experience something authentic, but instead found a weary, dated room that looks like it was last remodelled in the early 2000s. It had no "Kyoto style" at all - it was just weary and very far from the pictures you see online. Hard to reconcile this with a hotel presenting itself as a "Royal" property. Having booked similar 4–5 star stays in big cities across Japan, this was the worst value in hindsight. I had to pay extra for the spa, and even for the breakfast of a 4-year-old who supposedly stayed "free," which makes little sense at a buffet where a 4-year-old consumes two croissants and an orange juice. The restaurants and bars are tucked away in a windowless basement with overpriced drinks and food (compared to nearby restaurants); the French restaurant at the top is the same story, but with an amazing view. Overall, I got a 2–3 star experience wrapped in a 5-star lobby.

Pros:

Atención al cliente nefasta, desayuno deprimente y largas esperas
Pros:

No intentan resolver, solo justificarse.

No volveré
