Good location, but very unhappy with how dirty the rooms were

Cons:

Extremely dirty when we entered the room I could still see hairs left in the bathroom even after requesting a clean these areas were untouched. Bedding extremely filthy duvet was discoloured with mysterious stains

I do not recommend it, in fact I do not advise against it!
Pros:

Japanese atmosphere because the hotel is about 100 years old

Cons:

Nothing about this hotel is correct.
- I paid for two rooms next to each other. We were charged extra for opening the door between the rooms (to access the children).
- You have to pay for a baby cot. At the hotel, you have to pay for a bed!!
- We weren't allowed in the pool because we have tattoos, the children are too small, and of course, you still have to pay extra.
- We weren't allowed in the gym because we weren't allowed. Of course, everything comes at an extra cost.
- Breakfast - a disaster! Scrambled eggs made from powder, tasteless omelets, no vegetables, miso soup tastes like puke.
- The restaurant on the 14th floor is open until 8:00 PM, and you can't even make a reservation because it's so busy.
- They didn't clean the rooms because you have to put up a special sign saying you want them to take out the trash.
- Basically, you have to pay extra for everything. I waited while they told me to pay for the elevator...

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Brilliant. Will definitely stay again.
Pros:

Staff were excellent, especially the shuttle bus staff and the cloak room staff.
Comfortable beds.

Cons:

A little far from things like restaurants and the tower. The shuttle bus helped.

Amazing hotel with huge rooms.
Pros:

Rooms were extremely spacious and clean and the staff were amazingly friendly. Hotel was beautiful. The location was close to the station and the shuttle bus was extremely helpful.
There were a lot of cool restaurants close by. It wasn’t difficult to get into Gion or Nishiki market.

Cons:

You couldn’t use the gym or pool if you had tattoos but my husband found an Anytime Fitness near by.
The gym and pool cost 3300yen (Aud$33) ontop of your room cost which I thought is a lot.

Poor hotel with a dirty breakfast buffeet
Pros:

The Hotel is in a nice convenient location but thats the end of the good news.

Cons:

The breakfast buffet is one of the worst we experienced in Japan and it was never clean like the 4 other hotels on our trip.

The "Gym" consists of 2 cycles, 2 threadmills and 1 multi rack for cable crossover. The opening times 08-11 am and 13:30-21:00 with last entrance 19:00 means that you cannot combine workout with any meaningful sightseeing activity. We did only get 1 oppertunity to use the gym during our 6 day stay due to the poor operating hours, there is no reason to close the gym so early.

Note that the swimming pool is not avaliable for persons with tattoos this is not noted on the hotel website but is practised at the hotel. We did not get to use the swimming pool we paid for during our visit.

We did not get a chance to use the swimming pool as the hotel does not allow children in swimming diapers. Ordering a room with swimming pool and gym access was a complete waste.

Good location but were wrongly charged
Pros:

Location is near the station about 15 min walk plus the have the free shuttle .. hotel is clean with decent breakfast

Cons:

The hotel charged by child 5 years for breakfast even though we had booked our room with breakfast clearly stating age of occupants at the time of booking .. it was disappointing for and due to this transparency I will not book this hotel again
