Paramount Times Square - A Generator Hotel

We had a great stay at the Paramount Hotel in New York. The reception area is beautiful and has a really stylish, luxurious feel. The staff were all friendly, welcoming. We paid $160 on check in tourist tax which we expected but was delighted it was less than our travel agent stated.

Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed, although it could do with a little updating as some areas were looking a bit worn. The view from our room was just of surrounding buildings, but as we were at the back of the hotel it was lovely and quiet, which meant we got a great night’s sleep, we lucked in being on the 5th floor just to the left of the lifts. The air conditioning worked brilliantly and kept the room nice and cool. It was a little noisy when running, but it never affected our sleep.

The bathroom was quite small, but perfectly usable. The only downside was that the shower never got very warm, which was a little disappointing. It could have been cleaned a bit better as the toilet bowl inside was stained from the previous guests, but nothing a clean myself didn’t fix.

A nice bonus was the water dispenser on the 4th floor, which was really handy for refilling bottles. Unfortunately, the ice machine also there never seemed to be working during our stay which would have been a great bonus to be able to use. Extremely handy for filling bottles for our days out saving money and also for filling for evening time to have in our room.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at the Paramount Hotel. Its fantastic location, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff made it a great base for exploring New York. We’d definitely consider staying here again on our return trip. I was concerned given the poor reviews I had been reading, but I make my own mind up and I’m so glad we stayed here. I have nothing but positive feedback. Only dropped a star due to the ice machine not working and the water for showers not being of a warmer temperature.

Had to ask multiple times for someone to look at AC. There was zero air coming out and our room was up to 79 degrees the first night. Asked if they had a fan or anything to try to circulate air and was told a work order would be placed. Took over 24 hours to get it fixed.

The room was about the size of the bed but served the purpose. Great location in the theatre district. Room quiet and clean. Great price for what we were needed.

I’ve been traveling to NYC for work since 2023, visiting on average every two months.

Of all the various accommodation experiences I’ve had in the city (hotels, Airbnbs, hostels, etc.), the service provided by Nathalie was hands down the best! She saw me arrive looking tired after a grueling workday; it was the evening of July 16th, and my birthday had been on the 4th.

She didn't know it, but my birthday had been a difficult day due to family health issues, and I had decided not to celebrate at all (just to spend time with my husband and parents).

When she opened my passport, the first thing she said was, "Oh, happy belated birthday." I smiled and mentioned that I hadn't actually celebrated, and she replied, "We deserve to celebrate life," all while efficiently handling my check-in. I thanked her for remembering, and when I asked when her birthday was, she said, "Tomorrow, you'll see me here." I told her I’d celebrate her life the following day.

It´s a hotel that´s quite well located, but the biggest drawback is the noisy and unhygienic rooms, there is no ventilation

We stayed at the Paramount hotel for 4 days and absolutely LOVED our stay.
Staff are all incredibly friendly, the atmosphere was amazing, decor was very nice and it’s a fantastic location.
A special shoutout to the hotel manager, Heathcliffe, who was an amazing assistance and reassurance when one of our phones went missing.
