Afternoon Tea
Pros:

The afternoon tea was great, particularly the chicken sandwich and the delicious white chocolate desserts. The servers, particularly Jane, were attentive, but not overbearing. The decor is lovely too, making the tea room nice to sit in. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful and serene location with amazing service
Pros:

We were at Down Hall for an overnight stay, an evening meal and breakfast. The buildings, location and atmosphere are excellent. The area and rooms provide a very quiet, tranquil and serene ambiance. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities that we expected. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The cleanliness and quality of facilities in the room was of a high standard with some very minor issues (such as a stain on the base of divan, the sink holes in the en suite looked a bit corroded and the bath was a bit worn with a chip).
The food at both the Garden Terrace Restaurant and at breakfast was delicious.
Above all, we were incredibly impressed by all of the excellent staff who showed impeccable courtesy, professionalism and helpfulness. The team gave us a very warm welcome and are clearly ta huge asset to Down Hall.
We were at the hotel as part of a gift from a family member but would happily pay similar prices to go again.

Had a lovely experience at Eden Spa. A big thank you to the staff, especially Cheryl for the amazing service and such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The spa was clean, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. They made my daughter’s 40th birthday experience truly amazing to celebrate with friends and family. Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again!

Pros:

The hotel has been newly renovated and it is beautiful!!! We got upgraded and the room was stunning, it was spacious and overlooked the garden! The staff were also super friendly and the restaurants on site were great too!!

Cons:

The corridors had a bit of a smell to them - it wasn’t pleasant. Eden spa which was attached to the hotel is also quite dated, we paid for a treatment there and was sorely disappointed with the staff attitude and the facilities of the spa.

Luxury, Privacy & Exceptional Service
Pros:

A peaceful and beautiful setting surrounded by stunning grounds, offering the perfect countryside escape while still being easily accessible.
The hotel has a calm, luxurious atmosphere with beautiful period architecture in the main house that feels elegant yet welcoming. What stood out most was how private the experience felt. Despite the hotel being busy, it never felt crowded. Whether in the grounds, by the regal staircases, or outside our room, it often felt as though we had the place to ourselves.
We stayed in a Prestige Double Room in the main house with lovely garden views. The room blended period charm with modern comfort, featuring a spacious walk-in shower, plenty of storage, a very comfortable bed, and thoughtful touches such as complimentary cake.
The spa was peaceful, intimate, and very well maintained, with clean changing rooms, sauna, steam room, and hydrotherapy pool. During our two-hour booking, it felt as though we had the space entirely to ourselves, making the experience even more relaxing. Our massages were also excellent.
Exceptional service throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble, and every request was handled promptly with warmth and a smile. We interacted with several members of staff, and the consistency in service was impressive throughout.
The food was excellent, both in taste and presentation. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour, making dining feel like part of the overall luxury experience.
A truly relaxing and memorable stay with beautiful surroundings, outstanding service, excellent facilities, and thoughtful touches throughout. We would happily return.

A wonderful celebration
Pros:

We held a triple birthday celebration and I am happy to say that it was a huge success, thanks to the team at Down Hall. Rose, Elsa and Erin, who ran our event, were outstanding, from their warm welcome and attention to detail, to their organisational skills and wonderful service. I really cannot praise them highly enough. All of our guests commented on the delicious food, gorgeous function room, outdoor surroundings and the energy of the staff, it was a truly wonderful evening. I have been back since for lunch on the terrace too and will be a regular visitor in the future. Thank you so much to all involved, you made it so memorable.

Special thanks to Luke B
Pros:

We hired a private room for 12 people on a Saturday for my wife’s birthday party. It’s a great venue, having an outdoor play area for bored kids, and the food and personal service were outstanding especially from Luke B. Thanks very much again Luke.
