This is a superb spa hotel. The facilities, staff and food are excellent.
Staff were fantastic. Restuarant was very good, prices are very reasonable.
VERY minor point... could do with a water bucket and brush with so much mud in wet weather.

I went to this hotel with my content creator partner early in the morning to get some shooting in before check-in hours (around 11am which is 3 hours before regular check in). To our surprise they offered as an early check-in and upgraded us to a deluxe room free of charge. If that was not enough, when we called to order another water bottle at night they offered us a late check out free of charge again. They did not even know my partner was a content creator or anything at the time they made us all these kind gestures, I think this hotel is run by genuinely nice people and a top choice for anyone looking to relax.
It’s an excellent old English style hotel. Tastefully refurbished. Good food. Nice staff. My only comment which I make at most hotels is that the water pressure delivery in the shower was poor. For me showers are very important.

The hotel and the grounds are beautiful, the staff was nice and helpful. The food was good. The bedroom was really pretty and spacious with a lovely view on the garden of the hotel. The hydro pool and spa were also a nice addition to the weekend.
The price paid for the room didn’t match the expectations. The carpet wasn’t hoovered properly, the sofa had stains, the vent in the bathroom blew a lot of dust onto the toilet when we put the light on. There was also little to no pressure in the shower. The use of the wet spa is an additional fee - should be complementary to guests to be honest, especially when paying £400 a night! We also had dinner in the bar and that was really unpleasant as kids were running around everywhere, very loudly - not the romantic dinner we had expected.
We held our wedding at Down Hall on November 14th, 2025, and it was truly one of our dream venues that somehow became a reality. From the moment you drive in, the location and views take your breath away. There is just something about Down Hall that gives me chills every time.
We attended many open days and from the very beginning I could picture our wedding there. Zoe initially guided us through the process and provided fantastic advice, helping us so much with the initial booking of the wedding, key rooms and planning the wedding itself. Elaine was an absolute gem, amazing at organising all the rooms and accommodating our guests — many of whom stayed and loved it.
We later met Tracy, the Head Coordinator, who walked us through every detail of the day and shared invaluable tips - I immediately loved Tracey and knew we were in great hands. We attended several open days and used many of Down Hall’s recommended suppliers, which made everything seamless.
On the morning of the wedding, Tracy was there for me from the start. As my nerves and excitement built, she stayed right by my side and supported me all the way down the aisle to my amazing husband-to-be. We were both shaking with love, nerves, and the reality that we were getting married — it was such a beautiful moment.
The reception was incredible, with attentive service and plenty of drinks that everyone loved. The wedding breakfast room was exceptional, and we danced the day away. Tracy stayed with me throughout the day and into the early evening, and Julie joined us in the afternoon and evening — they were both so attentive, excited for us, and genuinely caring. I will remember them forever, they wont realise how much they meant to me at the time.
Simon the Toastmaster was absolutely brilliant, keeping everyone excited, organised, and dancing while making sure all the key moments were perfect.
Our photographer Nick Holt was an absolute legend — capturing the most beautiful and fun photos while being extremely professional and bringing so much warmth and laughter to the day. Our videographer Connor captured the day wonderfully, telling the story of our wedding so perfectly. The Tailored Tenors were completely unforgettable and had everyone dancing — we truly danced from day into night. Dean Lovelight, our DJ, created an incredible dance floor and stunning lighting - more dancing!.
Our guests the children and adults have all raved about the wedding from start to finish. Thank you everyone again from the bottom of our hearts — and we are sure we will be visiting Down Hall forever.

Me and my partner cannot thank Tracy Norris and the entire team at Down Hall enough for welcoming us and providing a beautiful wedding venue.
I booked Down Hall at the end of October for our wedding in January which is short notice but Tracy was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. We even got to bring our dog!
We didn't need to do much for decorations, just added a few floral arrangements, as the venue itself is stunning.
Our guests were also impressed with the staff and how friendly they were and the food was excellent.
We stayed for 2 nights along with some of our guests and the rooms were immaculate!
Me and my partner are glad we got to have a our ceremony at Down Hall and highly recommend for anyone thinking of booking!
Absolutely 10/10 experience of what might have been another ‘phoney’ luxury experience. This hotel is exceptional, not because it has a wonderful ambience, luxurious rooms and furnishings, but because the whole team from GM Lyndon, Erhan, the F&B teams were superb to a person. Intelligent, friendly and thoughtful service you often don’t find in top brand 5 star hotels.

Every January we have our strategy meeting for a couple of days in hotel allowing us to focus on our strategic conversations but also chilling, having fun and bonding with eachother. We are in business because we enjoy each others diversity of thought. The Down Hall Hotel is a rare find. Beautiful ground, stunning interior design and a mixture of old and new, friendly staff and fantastic food. We were blown away. To the fact that we will bring back our families to create more lovely memories.
