Ein traumhafter Aufenthalt
Pros:

Beautiful in every way, from the stunning renovated interior, other-world gardens and welcoming staff.
Pros:

Our family will return to La Cocumella. Exquisite in every way, a buffet breakfast TDF, and the amazing Chef Concierge, Giuseppe DiPietro, who arranged our unforgettable dinners in Sorrento, train to Pompei, and a private driver to take our family to Ravello and Positano. The restaurants are wonderful, especially the divine L'Agrumeto by the pristine (and quiet) pool and the staff very welcoming. The Cocumella beach on the jetty presents a view and breeze that will not be forgotten........we will return !

Ruined by rude staff
Pros:

The location is good, 20 min walk from Sorrento city centre, the hotel has its own beach club, tennis court and a pool.

Cons:

1. Staff Behavior at Checkout
The most disappointing aspect of our experience was the behavior of the staff at checkout. During our stay at the beach club, we asked about purchasing cigarettes, and a staff member kindly brought us a pack. However, at checkout, another employee suddenly demanded payment of €6 in cash for that pack. We had already spent nearly €1000 on our stay and were ready to settle any extras by card, but he insisted on cash only. When we explained we had no cash, the staff member started shouting at us loudly and aggressively at the reception desk, in front of other guests. This was humiliating and unacceptable, not at all the service standard one would expect — not even in a three-star property. This single incident left a very negative impression and spoiled the overall stay.

2. Facilities – Gym
The gym does not have air conditioning. Considering the hot climate, this makes the gym nearly unusable during much of the day. For a hotel in this price category, this is a serious oversight and should be addressed immediately.

3. Breakfast Quality
Breakfast quality was underwhelming. In particular, the scrambled eggs were poorly prepared and lacked taste. At this level of accommodation, more attention to breakfast variety and quality is expected.

4. Accessibility to the Sea
Another point worth mentioning is the lack of elevators or direct, accessible pathways to the sea. Guests are required to take a steep walk with many stairs, which is not only tiring but also potentially dangerous or impossible for people with disabilities, families with small children, or elderly guests. This issue significantly limits accessibility and comfort.

Conclusion
The property has attractive features, but the lack of professionalism among some staff members, combined with weak facilities and accessibility issues, overshadow the positives.

Among the best, period!
Pros:

Absolutely loved it here. No complaints!

The service is first rate. The grounds are exquisite, the beach is lovely, and the whole place is a beautiful and historic oasis of serenity.

We booked into a base room, communicated in advance that we were traveling with two young children, and they were accommodated into our room without issue. That may not sound like much if you’re used to American hotels, but in Europe being kid-friendly in the hotel industry is the exception, not the rule. We appreciated that the room was spacious (again, vis a vis European standards) had outstanding water pressure by any standard, and had everything we could want.

The breakfast buffet is top notch and not to be missed. Freshly squeezed juices, honey dripping from the comb, meats, breads, omelettes, prosecco-you name it. A let’s not forget the outstanding coffee options! Great start to the day!

The grounds are expansive with all manner of exotic plants, trees, citrus, and flowers. Not a bad place to hang out with a book, or just stroll around.

We used the beach every day. You can either use the chairs out on the platform at the end of the jetty, or you can use chairs on the small black sand beach. Having young kids, we always chose the beach and it was perfect for us. Absolutely beautiful spot with crystal clear blue water. Just thinking about it makes me want to head back!

We enjoyed going to La Marinella for lunch, which was super convenient and had beautiful views of the swim area.

Speaking of beautiful views, we had a lovely dinner at Coku, with food, music, and views of the sunset over the Gulf of Napoli not to be forgotten.

We also enjoyed the pool for an afternoon swim, and we loved the gelato on sale at the pool bar (and the spritzes!)

The shuttle to Sorrento was always timely and reliable. Great feature of the hotel. The hustle of Sorrento will make you grateful to return to Cocumella for sure haha.

All told this is one of my favorite hotels in the world.

Also gotta say Giuseppe at the front desk was great
