A wonderful hotel, with fantastic staff
Pros:

A beautiful old building, far enough away from a very busy Sorrento to avoid the crowds, but close enough to be able to enjoy the town in the evening and everything nearby, particularly with the helpful shuttle they run.
We had a small problem with our room when we arrived, which the hotel staff sorted very out quickly, exceeding our expectations.
All of the staff were fantastic in the hotel, the restaurant, bar, pool and on the beach, especially Giuseppe, the Chief Concierge who organised a few things for us. Coku restaurant was outstanding as well.

Cons:

Nothing

Pros:

Your concierge, Giuseppe, went above and beyond to make this a wonderful trip for us. He helped us when we had a medical problem and also set up fantastic excursions for us. I cannot overstate how valuable that man is to your property.

My favorite hotel
Pros:

My husband booked this historic hotel and it is a gem. The property is stunning with an amazing beach club and access to the sea. The pool is a quiet oasis surrounded by lush gardens where a refreshing breeze helps heat the heat. The staff is kind and genuine - the bartender Massimo shared enthusiastic tips for travel and lots of facts about the history of the region. Every person who works here seems genuinely happy to assist. Our room was comfortable and large with a little veranda and all the best modern conveniences. We will definitely be back - we fell in love with Sorrento and this world class experience.

Just a let down
Pros:

While Grand Hotel Cocumella offers a beautiful setting, the exorbitant nightly rate does not reflect the actual guest experience. Despite the hotel's five-star status, several glaring issues regarding service, hospitality, and privacy severely undermined our stay. At breakfast, there was a member of staff who was constantly wiping his brow and being on his phone, then would immediately cut the focaccia bread.

The service at the pool was remarkably rigid and unwelcoming. I was abruptly publicly pulled aside by a staff member who displayed a covertly hostile attitude simply because I was eating a shortbread biscuit. I was informed that only hotel-purchased food was permitted, forcing me to finish the biscuit right in front of them. Even more egregious, an elderly gentleman in his 80s was told he could not drink his own bottled water for the same reason a shocking lack of basic empathy and hospitality.

The definitive low point of our stay occurred at the hotel's supposedly private dock. While we were relaxing for our anniversary, a group of young women rushed the daybeds. They openly called more friends to join, explicitly stating that staff members were letting outsiders in for €10 each. This completely contradicts what we were told at check-in that the dock was strictly exclusive to hotel guests.

When paying thousands per night, one expects exclusivity, flawless service, and a premium atmosphere. Instead, the experience felt tarnished by a blatant sense of money-grabbing and a total failure to secure guest privacy. I have never experienced such petty enforcement or compromised exclusivity at any other five-star establishment.

Wow some shortcomings but an amazing stay!
Pros:

Wow what a place. Staff was amazing all around and couldn’t have asked for a better experience with the staff. Giuseppe the Concierge—I would give 10 stars to if I could!!!’ He was helping us book stuff before we arrived. Enzo the bartender in the main building was also amazing serving up late night drinks and great conversation.

The resort had a great proximity to downtown Sorrento— maybe 15 min walk or they have a tuk tuk car they will drive you in almost to downtown then a 2 min walk.

Ocean seas was great with the elevator down from the cliffs and bar service out there. Great views all around and prices were what you would expect for this type of place

The only downside was it seems like a wedding venue almost every day and they limit your access certain areas of the waterview property which was aggravating at times given we were paying guests as well.

Rooms are average with no real views to speak of. Pool area was nice as well
With a nice restaurant there as well.

Coku was described as a nice romantic dinner option—- it wasn’t —- loud club like music and given its Open to the public at sunset it’s filled with instagrammers all trying to take sunset selfies— many in beachwear and being loud and obnoxious.

Regardless of these negatives Giuseppe really is the main character here and he’s a great resource and makes your stay amazing and delivers to you whatever you may need!

We would stay here again.

Care for you like family!
Pros:

The hotel was 5 star in every aspect. The gardens were a unique adventure each day we discovered something new. The key aspect here to be applauded is the exemplary service. Giuseppe took special care of us. My sister in law was ill ( prior week in Tuscany) and he coordinated a local physician to come to the room and see her, prescribe medication and sent his representative to the pharmacy to get the needed items. He then had them delivered to the room for administration within an hour. This would never happen in the USA. She then was able to enjoy the second week. Giuseppe is a special person and we will never forget all the daily coordination of restaurant reservations and general checking in on the 3 of us ladies. We have his contact information and will certainly stay here on our next visit to the area. Sorrento is magical and the location of the hotel is central to everything you need to see and do in the area. Very private!

Ein seltenes Juwel mit Charakter und Atmosphäre
Pros:

Incredible
Pros:

We loved this hotel! Incredibly beautiful and the service was impeccable. The concierge, Giuseppe, was very helpful both before the trip and during! The restaurant at the hotel, Coku Robata Grill, was gorgeous. The food was incredible - the stuffed zucchini pasta and the tomahawk were both so good would highly recommend. Massimo was our server and sommelier - might be the best service I’ve ever had at a restaurant! So knowledgeable about the wines. Thank you for an amazing stay!
