Friendly hotel with a lovely pool excellent breakfast and a good choice of food in the restaurant. Monkeys and sloths do visit but everything kept hygienic. Would definitely return

The Hotel and location were amazing. Best view ever. The Staff throughout rocked and were the nicest people. Just a couple of issues that were fixed immediately. Our shower backed up the 2nd day there but was addressed right away. And our AC needed some tweaking. But the overall stay was great and I would stay again!

This is a lovely venue, the rooms have a good view with nice amenities. The rooms are a bit bare with small televisions and a tired shower but hey, who wants to stay in the room (unless it’s raining - which it is). After a very long travel day…feel silly to complain as I am kicking off a holiday, I arrive in a down pour to no help, we are driving and it was confusing entering the property and figuring out where to register. I had to climb wet slippery stairs to check-in with minimal help (luckily I am capable but if others may be a bit unstable or physically impaired, good luck). While registering I found out that there was a special event being held that evening. The dining room was closed as was most everything but great recommendation to neighbouring restaurant, Cafe Emilio’s. It was terrific! Upon return from a lovely dinner with a great view and service, I returned to relax on my balcony before an early bed time as I am zonked. I had the experience of listening to wedding speeches and now have no chance at sleep. The music is PUMPING!!! I have a noise machine with all doors closed and I might as well be at the event.

Please let me assure you, I do not want to takeaway from the wonderful couple and all their friends and family that travelled so far to celebrate, I just wish I knew what I was getting into. When I called the front desk I had to call several times and when someone finally picked up we had to yell over the music to one another so I was met with less than an accepting service person. I was told it will end at 10 pm so tough luck. Fine. I just want others to know what they are faced with if there is an event being hosted here.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Mariposa! The view from our room was AMAZING and the room was very clean! We tried all meals there and our favorite were the fish tacos at the pool bar. We were able to see monkeys, sloths and beautiful parrots all from the hotel property.

Areas to improve: We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and I thought there could be some better seating options, especially on the balcony to enjoy the gorgeous view. Two plastic chairs that were not comfortable was all that was out there. I also was disappointed that our room did not include breakfast although I did know that ahead of time, $92 for breakfast every morning was a lot- especially because we were usually rushing to a tour and that was our only option. Some of the staff was amazing but some were not very friendly or helpful.

Overall it was a great stay and we would come back again!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at this idealistic location in Costa Rica. The staff were friendly, helpful, and respectful, and although, we went during Costa Rica's busy season, we never felt overwhelmed by the number of people or noise level.
We loved all the wild life we got to see right at the hotel - white-faced monkeys all the time, squirrel monkeys more rare, macaws flying over, and the resident sloth :)
The rooms were modern and kept clean and, although, we asked for a garden view (which is really the rainforest room, not a garden), we also had a lovely, partial view of the ocean.
Breakfast was always plentiful, with lots of choices.
We felt the cost was very reasonable.
If we had any suggestions to make, they would be...
1. Our driver from the airport to the hotel drove a little erratically. The trip was a bit unnerving
2. We loved the Catamaran sunset tour, however, being a little older, we would have preferred a smaller catamaran, rather than the very large one we were on that had a bit of a party atmosphere, when we were more interested in seeing whales (not guaranteed, we know) and dolphins which we did not get to see. The music on the catamaran was so loud, we couldn't even chat with each other.

The most amazing location with the best views, breathtaking sunsets, sounds of nature, the ocean. The room was clean, spacious and beautiful. The staff and their service was a 10. The pool, food and whole experience was spectacular and we will most definitely return. Pura Vida

Perfect! Layout was amazing and offered a spectacular view. Friendly attentive staff. Best overall location in Manuel Antonio. Walking distance to amazing and delicious restaurants. Shuttle to beach is a plus. Pool is stunning with great drinks and food. Organized prompt and safe transportation to and from airport. Great vacation for our family. Kids enjoyed the stay as much as we did.

This was our 6th trip to Costa Rica and our 6th stay at La Mariposa. We would not consider staying anywhere else. EVERYONE is so kind and helpful. The facility is beautiful - the sunsets are amazing. The rooms are very comfortable and everything is crisp and clean. We just can't say enough about how happy we are to be able to enjoy such a wonderful place. Nice hotel, good pool, large rooms, good view, good aircon.

Guests come second.

Huge fascination at getting signatures for everything but to be presented with something to sign takes a minimum of 30 minutes, not great if you have a trip booked.

Another hotel where they want you to book for dinner but don’t reserve a table. Ridiculous paper trails that add no value to guests.

Hugely expensive menu bearing in mind in a 10 minute walk are good restaurants charging admittedly probably inflated prices but no where near the hotels and offering far better service.

Dont forget at hotels add 23% to every price. $30 dollar main meal is $40 a head. Restaurants are the same but often show the full price as wells as pre tax.

This was our longest stay in Costa Rica, so it’s a hugely disappointing end to a wonderful trip around a stunning country.

Really good hotel with stunning views overlooking Manuel Antonio National Park. Good size pool, gorgeus rooms, very clean too, good quality breakfast - really nice espresso coffee for only 3 USD extra charge. Many thanks to Alan - the Hotel Manager. He was very helpful and attentive. I only personally didnt like the guest ' s attitude, as 99% of the guests talk very loudly and are from America, so basicly they don't talk but shout all the time so it's not very peaceful to be around them.But overall really great hotel.

We are a family of 4 with twin 9yr olds and stayed here over the new year. After a very long travel day getting to the hotel and missing our original dining reservation we were checked in to the hotel quickly and offered a new dining time asap. We were so grateful. We stayed in a sunrise deluxe room which was in a building just off of the main area. The hotel isn't huge at all so everything is comfortably within walking distance. The view from our hotel was stunning and we frequently had monkeys climbing on our balcony (keep your door locked!) or scarlet macaws flying between the trees outside our room. The food at the restaurant (Le Papillon) was delicious for both dinner and breakfast. They gladly accommodated our children's modifications. We relaxed by the pool each afternoon upon returning from our tours/adventures. The pool area is intimate and never felt crowded, there was always a chair available. Bartender service at the pool was so great... again very patient and helpful with kids orders. The fish tacos at the pool bar were absolutely delicious! One thing I haven't read in any reviews (that I wish I knew before staying), there are no wash cloths. So if you like to scrub the sunscreen and bug spray off bring your own wash cloth or loofah! Also, getting a cab from the hotel to other locations proved a bit difficult. The front desk will call a cab for you, but it will not take 5 mins as they will tell you.... so just make sure to request a cab with plenty of time to spare! It was hard to leave this beautiful property!

Beautiful resort perched on a hill overlooking the jungle and ocean. We had a stunning room with a partial ocean view. Early in the morning we were able to spot monkeys and agouti on the grounds. The entire resort is immaculately maintained, rooms are spotless. The pools were large and well-maintained, with plenty of loungers. For us, the restaurant was overhyped. With mediocre food and OK service. Views are exceptional from the pool, bar, and restaurant.

We absolutely loved our stay at La Mariposa Hotel. The location was so ideal. We were able to either walk to restaurants or it was a very short car ride. We were greeted by the very friendly hotel staff when checking in. We had a beautiful room that was spacious, very clean, and a lovely balcony. The view from our room was fabulous. It was the most incredible feeling to see the Scarlet macaws flying around our balcony. The property was visited daily by the adorable monkeys. The pool was wonderful. It was large and had plenty of room for all of the guests to swim around in. It was also very clean. In addition, the pool water temperature was perfect. We were never cold, which made it so inviting. The delicious food and gorgeous ambience at their restaurant Le Papillon was top notch. We enjoyed eating breakfast and dinner here. It was so good we ate here over and over again. We would 100% book a room at this beautiful resort when we return to Manuel Antonio. My entire family gives La Mariposa Resort an A+.

Great location near Antonio Manuel and Marina. Rooms were spacious and CLEAN. Calming having coffee on the balcony. Hotel views of the ocean were panoramic and stunning. Beautiful pool overlooking the ocean and jungle. Front desk super helpful and even upgraded us, which was a fun bonus. Excellent service. The Le Papillon Restaurant is located on the hotel property. Once we arrived, we did not have to leave again to search for a restaurant. Great food ! Highly Recommend.

Check in process was very smooth and the staff very helpful. The room was clean, private, and had an amazing view with a very comfortable bed. The restaurant, pool, etc. are really top-tier in the service at the restaurant was perfect. I’d book it again!

Dislike that was far from the beach, but transportation is provided daily at scheduled pickups and drop offs.

An incredible place, spectacular views, excellent food, and the friendliness of all the staff. The hotel is in a privileged location, spacious rooms, a beautiful place surrounded by vegetation and wildlife.
