I chose Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe expecting a true 5-star Parisian luxury experience, especially being an Accor Diamond member and a frequent guest of luxury hotels worldwide. Unfortunately, the stay was far below expectations.
I booked a Premier Junior Suite, but the room I received did not match the expectations for this category. Based on the size, layout and overall feeling, it looked much closer to a regular Junior Suite rather than the premium suite category I had booked. Instead of feeling recognized as a loyal Diamond guest, I had the opposite impression.
The biggest issue is that the hotel simply does not feel like a luxury 5-star property. The interiors, room finishing, corridors and overall atmosphere are much closer to a good 4-star business hotel. There is no sense of arrival, exclusivity, or attention to detail that you normally expect from a luxury hotel in Paris.
Service was also inconsistent:
* Breakfast service was disappointing: orders were forgotten or mixed up several times.
* Housekeeping entered my room despite the “Do Not Disturb” sign being displayed, which is unacceptable at this level and a clear privacy issue.
What makes this experience especially disappointing is that this is my second consecutive negative experience with an Accor luxury brand. As a loyal Diamond member, I expect consistency, attention to detail and proper recognition, but unfortunately this stay showed a significant gap between the advertised luxury positioning and the actual guest experience.
At the current price level, I cannot recommend Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe. Paris has many true luxury hotels where the quality of rooms, service culture and guest experience are on a completely different level.
We booked a Junior Suite at Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe for 6 nights starting Friday 10 April, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing and we had to leave the hotel early.
We checked in with the assistance of Max at reception and were given Suite 305. As soon as we entered, there was a strong and unpleasant urine smell in the suite. We raised the issue with reception, but it was not properly fixed.
Max tried to help by offering us other suites, including 216 or 416, but the same smell issue was present there as well. This made the stay extremely uncomfortable and unacceptable, especially for a hotel with the Sofitel name and pricing.
In addition, the breakfast selection was limited and below expectations for a luxury hotel in Paris.
After trying to resolve the issue and seeing no acceptable solution, we decided to terminate our stay and move to the Marriott Champs-Élysées. This was very disappointing, especially since we had planned to stay for 6 nights.
Overall, this was not the level of quality, cleanliness, or service we expected from Sofitel. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.
Friendly staff
Size of the room.
Room service.
Location
Small room and uncomfortable seating in room
Las instalaciones y la habitación excelentes! Me gustó la ubicación , lindo vecindario restaurantes pero a la vez tranquilo! Buen desayuno, amable el personal.
Nada
The staff were wonderful and ensured everything was taken care of.
The rooms were immaculate and well looked after.
The location was great and an easy access point for all attractions.
My husband and I had an outstanding stay at this luxe hotel. It is so close to the Champs Elysees and Arc de Triomphe, yet just enough away to avoid the crowds. When confirming my reservation the day before, they asked me if we were celebrating anything special, and I told them it was my 65th birthday and we had reserved dinner at Taillevant, which is a 3 minute walk. I don’t know if my birthday was the reason, but we were upgraded to a larger room with a small balcony that had a view of the top of the Eiffel Tower. The service was impeccable. We didn’t dine in the restaurant but there is a lovely bar to have a drink before dinner. I can’t recommend this hotel more highly.
Location
I would not recommend staying at Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe.
First, there was flooding from the shower area near the toilet, which was very unpleasant and unacceptable for a hotel of this category. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable and of very poor quality.
In the evenings, there were barely any waiters available — you constantly had to look for staff if you needed anything. I also clearly informed the hotel in advance that I was arriving with a baby, yet no baby crib was prepared in the room upon arrival.
On top of that, the reception service was very slow and inefficient. Overall, the experience did not match the standards expected from a luxury hotel, and I am very disappointed.
Spot on customer service especially at the front desk and bar area. Good vibes on arrival
