The American Colony is a beautiful hotel, with kind helpful staff, comfortable stylish rooms and excellent food. We're definitely coming back!
The pillows were really tough. Slim and incomfortable, even when we asked for a third, we were uncomfortable.
The AC (cold) didn't work, and as it was hot we left the window open, which wasn't ideal/
Historical gem! Staff especially front desk manager were excellent.
This is a family owned and run hotel, most of the staff have worked there for in excess of 15 years, they love their jobs and it shows. The service from all at the hotel was exceptional, they organised our taxi's to and from the hotel to Ben Gurion airport. They also arranged all taxi's and tour guides for our trips round Jerusalem old city, Bethlehem and Jericho. All costs put on the hotel bill so easy to pay once for everything as we booked out. Fabulous service in an amazing hotel.
Charming, unique and a lovely property celebrating the rich history of the area and the former glory of Jerusalem
The property is somewhat run down with tired rooms,old furniture, crockery and cutlery, old and tired breakfast area. Just wasn’t up to its promise.

Susan and I made a last minute decision to visit Manger Square in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve.
We decided to stay at the American Colony and are beyond glad we did. We had to make several trip changes and the staff took it all in stride and accommodated us with little or no issues.
We arrived at the hotel around 9pm on Christmas Eve, did a quick check in and found ourselves in Bethlehem on Manger Square at 11pm on Christmas Eve. The hotel set us up with Mahmoud the taxi driver from Ben Gurion to hotel to Bethlehem back to the hotel early Christmas morning. The logistics they pulled off to make this work for us (and a little luck and magic) made it happen.
Never mind the spectacular reviews of the hotel in and of itself. It’s true and lives up to the reputation and is the great place it’s claimed to be. The STAFF of the American Colony are some of the best we’ve visited with around the world.
Of note Mouayad Khader, the Front Office Assistant Manager, Yousef from the Concierge and Diana from the front desk made the stay easy and even with our changes things went smoothly. We regret we didn’t get the bellman’s name during our stay but he was great as well. Especially finding us a taxi on Boxing Day.
The restaurants and staff and the housekeepers we crossed paths with were all friendly, professional and seemed like they truly enjoyed working at the American Colony.
If you are wanting to visit Jerusalem and see the sights this is THE place to stay. If you want to go a little deeper into visiting the West Bank, ask them to set you up with Mahmoud’s taxi and have him arrange to have his associate Mohammed show you around Manger Square and the Nativity Church. Mohammed knows his stuff!
Thanks to everyone at the American Colony Hotel for making this last minute trip of ours the memory of a lifetime.

C’est un très bel endroit qui devait être un excellent hôtel à l’époque, mais pas du tout OK en terme de rapport prix et qualité des services ou des chambres. À 400 € la nuit on peut trouver beaucoup mieux.
Le service en chambre a été très lent, qu’il propose pour le nouvel an est à 200 € dans un restaurant qui est vraiment pas top, sans oublier le petit-déjeuner qui était extrêmement décevant.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is excellent, very convenient and close to everything we needed. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, and the facilities were well maintained and thoughtfully designed. The gardens are beautiful, staff were professional and kind. Overall, a great experience, and we would happily stay here again.

Second visit this year to the American Colony and this time in winter. Same room - No. 3. And this time the whole hotel and grounds were decorated for the coming Christmas! You feel like you were in a fairytale…
This time we had a chance to enjoy their Bar. A real speakeasy. I’ve waited for humphrey bogart to come out of the shadows…
If you are after luxury there might be “posher” hotels in the city as here everything is cordial, more modest and local- but if it is style and atmosphere, nothing beats this place.
