Just had a lovely 2 night stay at Hotel Enso. Great location in Japantown, next to the #2 bus that goes straight to Union Square, or the #22 to the Marina (download the muni app for tickets). Just across the street from the hotel is a pedestrian block with cute restaurants and shops: Hinodeya Ramen bar was excellent! A little further is a mall with a large Daiso.
We had a relaxing breakfast at the hotel one morning. The food was carefully prepared, beautiful and delicious, but probably not a great choice if you are in a rush (we were not and really enjoyed it!). The following morning we walked three blocks to Sweet Maple for brunch featuring millionaire bacon.
At the hotel we enjoyed the complimentary wine at 5pm and the morning coffee in the lobby. No coffee in the rooms, but looks like you can request a coffee maker for your room among other things.
Our room was clean, peacefully decorated, and comfortable. Loved the soap and shampoo scents. The TV didn’t have streaming apps except for $25 movie sales. But if you bring your own devices the free WiFi is fast enough.
Excellent location, great access to public transportation, clean, and spacious !
Nothing
Room was comfortable and light. Staff was uniformly frindly and helpful.
The bed was very comfortable! The room is spacious and beautifully decorated. The daybed by the window is lovely. The location is convenient to all the major sights. The staff was very attentive and helpful.
The bathtub was not always clean.
Very helpful staff, great location, and nice rooms. Each room seems to have a bay window which makes them really enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the beds are great, and the environment is relaxing.
The lobby is down a half level, which makes it a little dark. Perhaps a little more lighting and more separate seating groups would improve it. Otherwise, this is a wonderful hotel.
Clean, welcoming staff, convenient, great location, comfortable bed, quiet and the water refill stations were a plus!
That there was no parking for us at the hotel
Great location in the Japantown and close to O’Farrell street.
No ramp for suitcases at the entrance. Rooms can be quite noisy. Water pressure was rather weak. Room service was too late in the day.
This hotel did not have parking available, and that was not clearly communicated ahead of time. I had called earlier in the day about traveling with my dog, and it was obvious I was arriving by car, yet no one mentioned that there was no parking available or that I would need to find street parking on my own. When I arrived, I had no choice but to leave my car on the street.
I raised the issue and suggested they really need valet service, or at least some kind of parking solution. The response was that they can’t afford valet or security. There was no accommodation offered and no concern shown — staff acted as if this was a new or unusual problem, rather than an ongoing issue they should already be prepared for.
The hotel was also very noisy. I could clearly hear people talking on the patio and in the hallways, doors slamming, and even a dog sniffing in the room next door.
The lobby setup was uncomfortable and awkward — everyone sits on a single couch facing the entrance, so when you walk in it feels like the entire room is staring at you. Not welcoming at all.
For $300 a night, you can find something far better and far more hospitable. I would not stay here again.
Hotel is very clean and in the heart of Japantown. Many good food options within walking distance.
No coffee/tea in the rooms but complimentary coffee/tea in the lobby every morning. Also, complimentary wine in the evenings.
Water dispenser next to ice machine in the hallway, but walls are thin so can hear everything.
