The location
I had ants in my room and the pool did not work the purpose of me staying there is because the amenities had a hot tub and they pull and if I knew I was going to be sleeping with Ants I would have went camping
Attractive renovation with updated rooms, but thin walls, hallway noise, and early morning disturbances made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.
The Sparks Hotel in Mechanicsburg has clearly undergone a nice renovation. The property appears to be a former Wyndham that has been refreshed with new flooring, fresh paint, updated furnishings, and an attractive exterior. First impressions are very positive, and the hotel certainly looks much newer than many properties in this price range.
Unfortunately, there are several issues that future guests should know about before booking.
The biggest drawback is the lack of soundproofing. Noise from neighboring rooms and the hallways travels very easily, making it difficult to sleep. If you stay here, I strongly recommend requesting a room on the top floor and, if possible, at the end of the hallway rather than near the middle or on a lower floor.
There were also a few maintenance details that could use attention. The bathroom exhaust vents looked poorly painted and somewhat dirty, which took away from the otherwise updated appearance of the rooms. In my daughter’s room, there was also a noticeable wet dog odor that wasn’t very pleasant.
Breakfast looked better than the typical complimentary hotel breakfast, with options like a waffle maker and hard-boiled eggs in addition to the standard offerings. Although I didn’t personally eat breakfast, it appeared to provide a few more choices than many comparable hotels.
The most frustrating part of our stay was the lack of uninterrupted rest. Guests were making noise late into the evening, well past 11:00 p.m., and after finally getting to sleep, housekeeping knocked on our door around 8:00 a.m., ending any chance of catching up on much-needed rest.
Overall, the renovated rooms and attractive appearance are definite positives, but the noise issues and early morning disruptions kept this from being a more enjoyable stay. With better soundproofing and a little more attention to maintenance and guest comfort, this hotel could easily earn a higher rating.

The rooms were clean and spacious.
We were in room 122 had gotten in very late and we’re on a different time. Zone and sleeping in was difficult. Lots of noise from housekeeping/ guests slamming doors in the hallway. Was also hard to tell who worked there many workers did not wear uniforms and were in street clothes.
