Fees, fees, fees....
Pros:

The two big positives of this property are (1) location above and within the Galleria. Very central with the greater Houston area and (2) the rooms are large and comfortable. The negatives are the Marriott maximum money squeeze machine: fees, fees, fees. $50+ for Valet parking. 18% automatic service charge on room service. $25 daily destination fee. A destination fee, in Houston? Hello? Oh hey, you'll get 2 tickets to the Museum of Illusions next door! Not exactly the Louvre. Marriott have become way too opportunistic on these sorts of things in my opinion. The cost of the room, pre all the extra fees, is already quite high.

Terrible customer service from a terrible front desk manager.
Pros:

Booked a room for my two young kids. I am a Marriott ambassador member and travel ALOT. The front desk manager Amy was TERRIBLE. Check in was such a hassle I completely cancelled my reservation and relocated to another Marriott. I guess my family didn’t fit the demographic she felt should be allowed to check in. Beware when booking here. There are many other Marriotts in the vicinity.

Short transit stay
Pros:

We stayed here 2 nights on the way to California from Florida as we had to come through the United IAH hub.
Hotel was comfortable. We stayed on a high floor with great views and had a large room and bathroom. We had club access, although the club isn’t open on weekends so we only had access one night and for one breakfast. For the second day’s breakfast, they gave us a. $50 voucher to the Daily Grill, but we went there about 9am on Saturday, half the restaurant was closed, they were clearly understaffed and couldn’t seat us for 20-30mins even though the restaurant appeared empty, so we decided to get takeout poboys from the hotel’s lobby shop, as we had a plane to catch and couldn’t risk getting delayed by what seems to be an extremely disorganised cafe.
Other than that, we used the gym, which was well equipped for a hotel, but busy. The lounge for breakfast the first day was good and for self serve snacks on the Tuesday night was handy. We didn’t use the pool. I don’t know who would pay $55for the valet parking, when the ground floor of the Brown Parking Garage of the Galleria mall was about 100ft away and very easy accessible and had free 24/7 parking.
Staff were friendly and helpful .
If you like shopping, the 3rd floor elevator exit was virtually in the Galleria shopping mall, which had just about every store you could need plus many food options.

Marriott Is Long Gone
Pros:

Below adequate front desk service, staff not sure of how to check in guests, not able to work the mobile key system.

Offered feather or foam pillows during reservation, asked for feather pillows, however, upon arrival was told that Westin no longer provides feather, only foam pillows. The pillows feel like foam bricks.
