The worst hotel room I've ever stayed in. Facet in bath tub pulled away from fixture, broken coffee maker, hair in sink and tub, bedding felt as if someone ate crackers in bed and room service just remade the beds without changing, visable damage to picture in room, exposed wires to an inop slide out coffee bar. Staff doesn't care about excessive noise so if you come to town on business skip this crackhouse. Also only one working elevator thats on its last leg of operation. Im embarrassed for Hilton corporate with this location.
Gym, customer service
Pool wasn't open
Location waa great, but that's the only thing that was nice. Parking isn't convenient, staff wasnt overly friendly (didn't give us our room number, had to look at the key card) and treated you like you were dumb if you said the tv didn't work (powered on, pushed buttons to change channel/ change volume etc etc) they'll tell you its just because the first 4 channels are blank...that shouldn't cause the tv to immediately kick off at 30 seconds.
The shower didn't have body wash. It had 2 shampoos and 1 conditioner. Water was slow to drain in the tub, and the room stayed muggy.
We were only there for a few hours and notified front desk as we were leaving and was met with "why didn't you tell us sooner" because everything happened within the last hour before we left.
Don't stay here. This is one of the worst Hilton properties I've stayed at, and I've been Diamond for years . . . I stay at a lot of Hiltons. Here's a list of all of the problems. First, even with all of these issues, it's the same price as surrounding Hilton hotels. It should be much cheaper.
* Feels run down as soon as you walk in the door.
* Most tv channels didn't work and all of them stopped working by the end of our week stay.
* No free breakfast and at $15 per person, the cost is well above the Diamond allowance. But it's the SAME food you'd get from a Hampton Inn. Not work the cost at all.
* No diamond benefits - no water bottles, no snacks.
* Only one working elevator. You'll spend lots of time waiting for the elevator.
* Conference area turned into a casino most of the week and the back door was propped open 24 hours a day without any security.
* No room cleaning. Literally none! They said you could get it if you scheduled it before noon the previous day.
* Poor sound isolation. We could hear the guy next to us talking on the phone and are sure he could hear us.
* Doubletree is famous for their cookies, but this place keeps them under lock and key. You can get them when you check in, but never again.
* Coffee was frequently out and not refilled.
* Beds were hard and worn.
Overall, this hotel does NOT represent the Hilton brand well. We won't be staying here ever again.
Hotel was overbooked and I waited an hour for my reserved room when I arrived at 9pm. Only one elevator was working throughout the 3 day stay. My door battery died and I needed to go to the front desk 4 times to get it resolved. Another person I was traveling with had the same door battery issue and waited over an hour for it to be fixed so he could get into his room. I have never stayed at a hotel with this many issues, and I will be avoiding this one in the future.
This place is an absolute dump! I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking. Still only had one elevator that works (this has been noted as broken for months) and the one that does work hasn’t been inspected since 2024. No housekeeping at all. The rooms are absolutely disgusting. When the air comes on it smells like must and urine. I don’t know how this place is even still in business and associated with the Hilton brand!
Never received working room keys, had to be let in room by staff and couldn’t leave without getting locked out of the room
TV had no cable connection, no chance to watch World Cup and could not go to lobby to watch because of key situation
Absolutely horrible. 5 nights in, zero housekeeping service. Internet has not worked for 3 days. One elevator out of service. By far worst Hilton property I've stayed at as a Diamond Reserve member, completely abysmal. Whoever is GM of this property should be ashamed and find a new career path.
Rooms were not ready even in the evening, We checked in at 10PM instead of 3PM.
Great location
Only one elevator worked so we had to wait many times
Listen listen listen... If I had known that I was going to have to service my own room from housekeeping to maintenance then I would have just went the airbnb route. As a former employee of Hilton let me tell you how this is suppose to go. But first let me tell you my experience here, now my husband checked in the room a day before I got here which was fine Day one of me getting here I wake up I asked for housekeeping services everything is fine. I also asked for maintenance services because the bathroom sink and the tubular clogged very badly well didn't get those services but I did get half of housekeeping which they gave us no face towels so I don't know how that was supposed to work. Second day ask for maintenance services again for housekeeping at 10:00 a.m. also requested maintenance services again for the sink and the tub they did not come and fix. Come back from the conference few hours later my husband noticed that they did not clean the room and now of a sudden the toilet doesn't work we go without a toilet for 7 hours and had to use the bathroom downstairs in the hotel lobby. We were notified by the front desk that they have to call in maintenance because they do not have maintenance in the hotel as they are required to have per Hilton's policy and guidelines well we left for one of our events for our conference we come back several hours later it is now 1:00 a.m. still no maintenance. Then the gentleman the front desk proceeds to tell us Will he never showed up so my husband asks why didn't you go take care of the issue yourself. The gentleman states he could not leave the hotel front desk unattendant however as I explained to him if your maintenance staff does not come in which they are required to be here on staff as long as a hotel is open then you are required to either move the gas to a different room where they have working accommodations or do it yourself. So now he gives us the plunger to figure it out ourselves..Thank goodness I work in property management so maintenance request are easy but I didn't come to work but relax and the same for housekeeping. His excuse was they were sold out so housekeeping wasn't able to clean rooms except for those who were getting ready to check in. So we saw housekeeping cleaning rooms up until 8pm when we left. This is definitely not a Hilton Brand hotel. Go across the street to Hilton Garden Inn. This is crazy and I feel like I need the hourly rate since maintenance isn't here on a sold out night. Hilton if this is who you let represent your hotels then it's time for me to go back to Marriott and Loews brand
I have been a loyal Hilton Honors member for a very long time and I can say unequivocally this stay was probably my single most disappointing experience. From the moment I entered the property - to pavement in poor condition, trash in the parking lot, weeds in the front entry beds, a trash can that was overflowing - I knew it might be a problem...and it was. This hotel is in dire need of a substantial renovation/redevelopment, not just new carpet and paint. It is tired. The lobby/common areas are loud with old finishes. The rooms do not offer much of an improvement. Casework was damaged, poor quality paint touchups, cracked countertop in the bathroom and a shower head mounted at a height more appropriate for a 8 year old boy than a grown man. Overall, very disappointing stay and certainly not what I've come to expect from Hilton.
This was my first visit to the Doubletree Schaumburg; I have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street…and wished I’d done so this time. We entered the lobby to a cacophony of noise…small children running around and shouting at the top of their voices while parents congregated and the far end and ignored the commotion.
We were given our cookies but they were cold and the paper envelopes were grease stained.
Only one of the two elevators was working the entire time we were there.
The hall way was overly warm and had an odd odor but was wide and well lit.
Our room seemed crowded with two beds and a chair, but the beds were comfortable. Bathroom was spacious.
The cleaning products are overly scented; a room should smell “fresh,” not like cleaning products.
When we returned from dinner (many children still running and shouting through the lobby area), we realized that turning the thermostat down to 68 degrees had done nothing…the temperature in the room was still 71. We tried it again and nothing. We checked to see if we could open a window—not possible. So, we called the front desk for instructions on how to get the thermostat to a lower temperature and were told: “give it 15 minutes and if it doesn’t cool down, we’ll move you to another room.” Not a good solution as we were unpacked and ready for bed. So, we just put up with it.
There are many hotels in the Woodfield/Schaumburg area and I will find another one next time.
Location
Rooms need to be updated. Our room had 2 ACs, 1 worked and the other didn't. Unable to change input on tv. Pillows were flatter than me.
