Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel

I will start with the good. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel's shared spaces were artsy and attempted to reflect quality and city heritage. For the most part nice, however any positive thoughts I had about my stay at the hotel are dismissed by the fact that the hotel HAS NO ON SITE PARKING INCLUDED WITH THE PRICE OF YOUR STAY!!! A truely deceptive bait and switch, with no clear indication that such was the case when booking the room. In the amenities the hotel lists valet parking available at an additional cost. It does not mention that parking is unavailable. Parking will cost you $30 a day for valet. Your car will be kept across a large street in a parking facility. If you choose not to valet, that same parking garage will cost you $8 for 12 hrs with no return in and out for the day. There is a tunnel from the parking garage elevator to the adjacent building across the street and from that building a connection to the lower level of the Renaissance Hotel. It's about 5 minutes walking. I feel that at minimum the hotel should comp guests parking at the facility if they choose not to pay for valet. If I had known parking was not included I would NOT have chosen this hotel for my stay in Toledo! I feel I was lied to and that the issue caused me undue stress, financial worry, and physical exertion I did not need or want during my stay. I highly recommend you stay somewhere else.

The hotel and river walk are beautiful. The room was comfortable and clean, especially the bed.

Within walking distance to so many things

Valet was swamped when we pulled in, but quickly took care of us. Later, I realized I had left a valuable in our car. Jake personally escorted me to the lot to find my car. Also want to compliment Robert at the front desk - so pleasant to engage with.

Modern. Great atmosphere. Restaurant and Food amazing.

Most of the staff was helpful but my check in experience with a man named Kenny was unpleasant and unprofessional. I waited too long before being acknowledged and he was extremely short with me and obviously agitated any time I had a question. I won’t be back just based on that interaction.

I was given a handicap room.
The layout wasn’t even good for a handicap person.
Too many issues to list.
Called repeatedly and finally left a message.
Of course they didn’t respond.
At nearly 300 dollars a night you would think they would at least answer the phone.
Never again.
I’m 76 and have stayed in hotels all over the world. Never again with renaissance .

Very comfortable bed

I have 1 RAVE REVIEW for MONTAY BURKS This gentleman is so extremely kind and a wonderful host. He helped us with our many heavy bags and would not accept any tip so I wanted to give him a huge shout out!

The desk staff was also very nice and helpful!

I do value trust in a review however and must be honest about my experience at this hotel:
While the lobby was lovely, It was my experience that my room and another that I looked at was extremely dirty! The air conditioning was not working in the hotel during our stay which we accepted, they kindly gave us a fan to circulate some air. Although the air was very damp, smelly and unpleasant. The bathroom not clean, the carpet was not clean, the decor sparse and the sofa, chairs and table were quite filthy. The floors were slimy!

I don’t want to have to say this but I feel it’s important.
This staff and city of Toledo deserve something to be proud of and I strongly think Marriott/Bonvoy needs to gut this hotel and allow the staff paid leave while things are redone so they can return to a reputable establishment that they can be proud to welcome visitors of the area to and provide an enjoyable experience as I’ve had in many other Marriott/Bonvoy hotels.

Unfortunately I won’t be returning until this hotel does a serious remodel and can provide travelers with a clean and healthy stay.

Staff

The location is perfect. We come in from out of town at least once a year for Walleye and Mudhens games and we always stay at the Renaissance because it is conveniently located and we are able to walk to both!

There was no breakfast

I was having a terrible day but upon arriving at the hotel the valet Shar was so helpful and welcoming turning my mood around. I definitely plan on coming back and recommending it to others!!

Beautiful hotel and scenery by the water. Fast, friendly, helpful valet parking and car retrieval by Riley and friends. Clean comfortable rooms.

Montay(mgr) was tremendous. Out of his way to be a problem solver. This is what good looks like. Thank you for making this the best Valet experience ever.

I had a great experience at the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel and wanted to give a quick shoutout to Tyler from the valet team. He was friendly, helpful, and made everything easy from the moment I arrived. Really solid service and a great first impression.

The hotel itself was excellent. The views of the river and downtown were beautiful, and the food was genuinely impressive—everything tasted great and was well put together.

Spending time in Toledo was a nice surprise too. Downtown has a lot of charm and made the trip even better.

Overall, a really enjoyable stay with great service all around. I’d definitely come back.
