Romance Istanbul Hotel Boutique Class

We stayed at the Romance Istanbul Hotel both pre and post a recent cruise. Its location is perfect if you want to explore the major tourist sights of Istanbul as they are all close together about 10-15 minutes walk away. There is also a tram stop a few yards away from the entrance if you'd rather get around by public transport. We would avoid journeys by car/taxis as the traffic in and around the city is usually horrific.
The staff on the front desk were very helpful and offered guidance on what to see and do around the city. They were also kind enough to note on our post cruise booking that we would be arriving early (around 10am) and they had a room available for us on our arrival.
The rooms were comfortable with a rather quirky bathroom setup. The bathroom walls and door is made of glass so it's important you're thoroughly acquainted with your roommate - if not, you certainly will be by the end of your stay!
Although the hotel overlooks a busy street (everywhere is busy in Istanbul), the room was well soundproofed and we slept soundly.
If we ever return to Istanbul, we would definitely stay again.

For a hotel that sits on top of tripadvisor rankings, it makes me wonder if my expectations are misplaced.
After carefully thinking over, i feel that my rating is justified. Let me explain:

After a 17 hour flight , my checkin was smooth and i was offered a room that felt like entering a sauna. When i complained, the technician came and proved to me that everything was working fine. Offered me to even get up the ladder and inspect. The front desk told me that it will take 1 hour to cool the room. After one hour the temperature barely nudged. So, we had to leave the room and go out as the heat inside the room was unbearable. No other room was offered as a temporary accommodation for us to freshen up. Did not expect this after a 17 hour flight.

Same issue repeated when we booked a transport from the hotel to airport. Big and really old merc came and we entered a furnace again. The driver with all language issue finally stated the air conditioning but the van was so old that it did not cool properly. So we were soaked in sweat before we could board our long international flight back.

Now - few other issues. Not as bad , but should be highlighted for a hotel that ranks so high on tripadvisor.

Room had floor planks peeling out at multiple places, I hurt myself . Jacuzzi did not drain. Overall very dated with few switches not working, toilet ever flowing and comforter being razor thin. Again , this might be nitpicking, but should be highlighted due to my expectation of hotel ranking being so high.

No matter how eager and courteous the staff was, it seemed to me that management lack basic understanding of guest comfort and was trying to save money by keeping air conditioning off.

Really disappointing and can’t recommend.

The staff were service oriented—especially Tayfun, Furkau, Shirin and Rabia.
They were ready to assist us without us asking. One of our family members had a mobility issue. Furkau and Shirin noticed that and suggested different transportation stops to minimize uphills.
Although the hotel is in a touristy area it was ideal as it was within walking distance to the various spots.
It was also accessible to the metro and ferries so that we could go to the Asian part of Istanbul.

We had a great time as a family.

Overall this was an amazing hotel for anyone who wants to be close to many popular istanbul spots such as the blue mosque, hagia sophia, and topkapi palace. The metro station is a 2 min walk and is apart of the T1 line that can take you to kabatas and karakoy in under 15 min. The hotel staff were very nice and very accommodating with questions on where to go and the best way to get to any meet up locations for tours as well as general recommendations for what to see.

A good place to stay in Istanbul
The location is excellent and very convenient for sightseeing, with many attractions nearby. The family room was perfect for our family of four—much more spacious than most hotel rooms. The service was also outstanding, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

Charming small hotel with wonderful staff, located in a central part of town close to most historic sites. Hotel staff made thoughtful restaurant recommendations as well.

The Romance Istanbul Hotel is a gorgeous hotel with impeccable service from housekeeping to the front desk. Scenal and Merage were especially helpful. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. The housekeeping staff is amazing. The place is immaculate! Great walking distance to all activities!

This is a perfect hotel for a stay in the historic part of Istanbul! It’s a very short walk to Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, and the Basilica Cistern. The tram stops near the entrance. The staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful, and they serve a delicious and varied breakfast! The rooms are spacious and immaculate, and the atmosphere is lovely. So glad that we found this place! There’s also an excellent restaurant next door that is associated with the hotel.

Location

This hotel is wonderfully located right in the heart of the old city. It’s right on the tram line so you have access to the blue mosque and the Hagia Sofia right from the front of the hotel. It also goes in the other direction to cross the golden horn and along the phosphorus. It is ideally located for the Egyptian/spice markets, as well as the grand bizarre. Breakfast was wonderful. I highly recommend including it in your stay. We stayed for four nights and it was the perfect amount of time here in Istanbul for us for our first visit.

With my wife, we've spend a few days in the Romance Istanbul hotel and it was truly a delight ! From the location that was quite perfect with Topkapi, the shore, basilic citern, the blue mosque and Saint Sophia within a walking distance, as the bazaar and even, the Galata tower with a lovely walk underneath the bridge during the hot days or above at night.
Everything was nice in the hotel, the details of the architecture were exquisite, the room was lovely with a huge bed and a lovely ceiling delicately lit. Room was also very clean and the products offered were nice.
Noise was minimal with occasional sound from the tramway nearby but way less annoying that car traffic could be.
Service was perfect, everyone was really helpful and kind, their recommendations for restaurants or trips were always spot on. We tried a restaurant one night in front of the hotel that they didn't recommand and it was a mistake, better follow their recommendation !
The breakfast was perfect and ever changing so we get to tried everying morning new specialties from Turskish cuisine.

It was a lovely romantic getaway and we love every aspect of our stay.

Brilliant location to main sights, discrete and low key staff. Turkiye / Istanbul hospitality is exceptional. Would go again for sure.
Best tourist attraction is the Basilica Cistern for sure.
