Decent hotel downtown Aberdeen
Pros:

Good location
Pleasant and helpful staff
After complaint, I could move to another room

Cons:

Rooms were a bit outdated. After complaint, I got a new room the second day.
The first room was very hot, no air coming in, window could only open 10 cm, with a damp unpleasant smell
All looked old and worn-down
Second room was more airy, better ventilated

Short stay
Pros:

The hotel was clean, the staff friendly and the food for our evening meal was very good...very comfy beds..would definitely stay again...

Cons:

The only complaint we had was windows need to be updated as very drafty and the breakfast was quite cold...next time we would ask for a room at the back..

Pros:

It’s central location

Cons:

I’ve stayed here several times in the past, but on this visit the location of my room wasn’t the best. I backed onto the stairs, so heard everyone going up and down as well as the slamming of the corridor doors.

Lovely stay other than above issue. Rest of staff were fab.
Pros:

Location was great for attending His Majesty’s theatre . Some of the staff were great. Others not so as you will see in my comment below

Cons:

The lady that checked us in was not very helpful at all. We arrived at 1.30 , knowing that check in wasn’t until 2pm, but we have found with other hotels they will look and check to see if any rooms are ready at that point but she just wasn’t even interested in checking. She took our bags to store. Put tags on them , didn’t give us anything to give her when we came back to check in only to see that anyone was going into the store cupboard at the door to get out bags so anyone could have taken them! Then while checking in I noticed one room was 225 the other 410 which I automatically realised were on different floors . I mentioned that I had put in a request for the rooms to be as close together as possible. She said there was nothing on the booking. I said I definitely put in that request. She then said that would be subject to availability. She didn’t even attempt to see if there was anything closer. We then went to look at 225 which was a lovely room. I then checked out 410 which I found was not only 2 floors up but the opposite end of the hotel. I then went back to reception and asked again if there was anything that could be done. I said I would upgrade the standard room to deluxe if that would help but again the same girl didn’t even try. I pleaded with her to look so she said she had one on the 3rd floor that wasn’t as good. I asked what the difference was , she got a folder out and said it’s 2 single beds. I said that’s what 410 has so can I please change. She then gave me a new key but didn’t tell me the new room number so I kindly asked, she took the key card folder, scored out 410 and wrote 310! I didn’t then say what I was thinking but when I went up to 310 my thoughts were proved correct. It was exactly the same room just one floor down! I actually laughed .

Great stay!
Pros:

The twin room was very small, there was very little room to move about. There was also no view from our room window but the fantastic breakfast and perfect location made up for that.

Cons:

The room was very small.

Not a good stay at all.
Pros:

The hotel has a great location and great potential. But the rooms are in desperate need of a full renovation. Disgusting old carpets and furniture. Ice cold bathrooms with sub standard plumbing. I complained and got upgraded. The new room was bigger but the same poor standard. Absolutely no heat control in the rooms. The staff are doing their best, but honestly. The rooms are not fit for humans. Will not stay there again.

Pros:

My wife and myself were to see Mamma Mia at HMT for her birthday and we booked the Mercure Caledonian for an overnight stay.Warm welcome at reception on checking in and we were delighted that room was available at 1.00 p.m. Room was really comfortable....nice and warm, really clean. We both slept well at night. Before going to HMT we had a drink in the bistro.Again really welcoming. Staff were really friendly.Breakfast next morning was an absolute treat.Super selection. The two staff from the Bistro were on duty again. The gentleman again was spot on...great customer service.Really enjoyable stay.
