Dated Park Hyatt that Isn't Up to Global Park Hyatt Standards but in a Great Location with Good Value
Pros:

This Park Hyatt is much more dated than others I have visited and the service was not as on point - more attitude, less helpful. That being said, it is in a terrific location, the rooms are large, and breakfast was excellent.

The perfect Melbourne escape
Pros:

Exceeded all expectations. This was an impromptu trip to Melbourne, where I met up with some friends, and we ended up having such a brilliant, relaxing time that we hardly left the hotel - that’s how good it was! We loved sitting in the lobby and people-watching, and the whole experience was chilled and luxurious. The staff were next level - every single person was phenomenal.

An amazing Hotel, probably the best in Melbourne, for the discerning traveller.
Pros:

Park Hyatt Melbourne

Melbourne

Park Hyatt is the best, most luxurious and customer focussed Hotel in Melbourne.

I have run out of superlatives to describe this hotel. We have enjoyed four nights in a top Hong Kong 'Harbour' Hotel, followed by a 2000 plus mile, five week, self drive holiday around SE Australia, including other big cities as Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide....with multiple stops in between. But...this hotel is in a league of it's own.

Staff: Every member of staff 'owns' the hotel and goes the extra mile for all guests; nothing is too much trouble. Each has time to talk, suggest, recommend or continue a conversation we may have had two days before. The Hotel has a great ethos where guests and staff are important. Even the Manager (Oliver) insist on first names for staff.
Special mention for Maria on Reception; Caroline, Guhn and Ronnie at Breakfast; Leighton the seasoned, eyes everywhere, Restaurant Manager; the faultess, helpful, welcoming Door staff; the also helpful Concierge Team; the front line and most important, troops of House Keeping and Turndown, and finally, the team of window, glass and floor polishers. I'm so so, so sorry, I didn't write down everybodys name. They all have one thing in common, they love working in the Hotel. Did I mention the resident, Hotel dog...I think a golden lab, with tartan collar.... that pops into the Hotel now and again

The Room: We stayed in a King Room but it was more like the King Suite. It was spacious, luxurious and equipped with everything to create a home from home experience...the iron/board was better than we own, toiletries were 'high end', bath robes and towels were 'full' (weighty), crisp and snuggly. We had a super large bed with soft, high thread count bedding and pillows coupled with designer magazine, soft furnishings.

The room was zoned with a dressing room, a bathroom with great shower and designer bath (with TV..), a lounge table and armchair, but the star of the show was the room design...think luxury cabin on a trans Atlantic 1930s/50s ocean going liner. Brown, warm, hard wood veneer panelling, floor to ceiling mirror walls and marble tiles. One time, my wife got lost trying to find her way out of the polished labrinth......lol.
At first you think Art Decco, but then you realise it is high end 1950s...you could be in Rome, Paris or Milan. with Audrey Hepburn in the next room. And no!... it's not tired nor dated; it's meticulously maintained and could be brand new.

Breakfast: How could any previous Reviewers post critiques: This is as good as it gets. There is a huge, and I mean huge, selection of food for the health conscious eater; fresh fruit of every kind and hot, bespoke, freshly prepared dishes of every variety, delivered to your table. And yes, the omelettes are legendary. The staff work hard and could be descibed as wonderful. Close your eyes and you could be in the Ritz, London....I've been there.

The Hotel: is quietly located in the heart of prestigious Melbourne. It's flanked by the imposing, but calming, St Patrick's Cathedral.."Hail Glorious St. Patrick....', the Parliament Building..free tours on the hour up to 4.00..and the Classy 1880s Windsor Hotel. This Hotel fits in so nicely.
It is 5 minutes away from the Parliament
Building at one end of Bourke Street..a major cross street with theatres, restaurant and Chinatown minutes away. Why would you want to stay in the Centre...lovely as it is?
Please try the nearby, San Telmo Argentinian restaurant, with fish, lamb and vegetarian dishes on the menu, as well as the best steak...paired with delicious Mendoza Malbecs (I've never been a fan until now).
And...there is a tram stop across the road and Parliament Railway Station, seconds further. You can explore St Kilda's and William's Town from both, easily.
Another tip, Frank does a superb freetours.com for a first day in Melbourne City 'free' tour, 11.00 am to get yourself orientated....funny, historical, balanced, 10/10 (apparently Sam is as good). Two and a half hours of information/entertainmant and sad to part at the end. You'll soon get used to the (free in April) tramline. It's designed for the most transport system-scary cats.
Finally, can I just mention I'm not an influencer, a relative nor have vested financial interest, nor reward, through writing this. I just believe in credit where credit is due, and I'm glad old school , quality hospitalty is alive and well.
I'm flying home with my wife at the moment....Business Class to the UK. Thank you Hyatt, thank you Oliver, thank you Melbourne and thank you Australia....see you again, very soon.
