Josiah was great in assisting me and my coworker to our rooms making sure all our luggage was dropped off. It is our first time staying here. He also made sure that we knew what we needed to do in case we wanted to get ice or a mini fridge sent to our room. He was very nice and made our check-in a nice experience.
Did not eat breakfast
Parking staff were rude.
The front staff was nice and friendly. We liked the history of the building and location.
We stayed for 2 nights. Housekeeping came to our room only to put in hand soaps that was not there in the first place. They didn’t replace the towels that we needed and left on the floor of the bathroom nor make the bed. The parking was bad. There was so much cars at the valet area that we didn’t have space to park and had to go around again or stop in the middle of the road. Not safe as cars were coming.
It looked prettier online
The staff when I got there putting me under stress, room table not clean, an elevator didn’t work then the other was having issues. Trash in lobby was full, should’ve had staff on it. Saw another guest throwing trash, it was so piled up she had to press it down. Not too impressive for a luxury hotel
My sister had her wedding here this weekend, and the bellmen/valets named Henry and Zack were so wonderfully helpful and went above and beyond to make our experience go as smoothly as possible. Service was incredible throughout the rest of the hotel as well!
Henry, Dean and Ruben and the valet team have been so helpful! We stayed here for 6 days and have been tremendously helpful with our vehicles, luggage and their quickness!
Overall:
We stayed at the St. Anthony hotel around the New Year as a family of four. The location was great, walking distance to the major spots and the River Walk. It is however, the hotel/room was not overall clean. Found dusts on the carpet in our room, and some missed spots in the bathroom. Also, it was somewhat noisy from the street although we were on the higher floor, and we also heard the people room next door due to thin walls. The building is historic and staffs are friendly. We went to a restaurant downstairs for breakfast and we enjoyed the food and service. We also used the fitness gym which was spacious and well-equipped. Overall, we were dissatisfied with the experience.
Issues:
Our initial room was overlooking the park and spacious. Issues started to emerge probably due to the fact this building was very old. Our shower did not heat up for the first two nights; the customer service promised that the engineer will follow up which did not happen to fix this issue. After much complaints, we were moved to a corner suite room which was extremely spacious and beautiful. Another issue emerged that the master bedroom toilet did not have sufficient water flow and it clogged. We were able to call the engineer and resolve the issue, however overall our experience was ruined due to these major issues.
Excelente hotel, lindíssimo! Uma ótima opção para completar a beleza e o charme de San Antonio!! Quartos grandes e limpos. Bom atendimento.
This hotel presents itself as a luxury property with a high star rating, but unfortunately my stay did not reflect that at all. The price, the branding and the expectations that come with a so-called luxury hotel are completely out of line with the actual experience.
Starting with arrival: the layout of the property makes it practically impossible to park at the entrance yourself. The only realistic option is valet parking, which means you simply don’t have a choice. That in itself doesn’t have to be an issue, but at this price level you expect this to be clearly communicated and managed properly. It wasn’t.
The entrance and lobby look like faded glory. In pictures it may appear classic and elegant, but in reality everything feels worn, dusty and poorly maintained. This is not charming “old-world luxury,” but rather a building that is long overdue for serious renovation. You see wear and tear everywhere, and it gives the strong impression that maintenance only happens when something finally breaks.
The reception staff smile, but professionalism is lacking. When you ask direct questions or raise concerns, you don’t get clear answers or solutions. Instead, you get the same empty smile and sometimes people even walk away rather than addressing the issue. As a guest, that makes you feel neither heard nor respected. The only real positive service came from the staff working at the entrance, who were friendly, attentive and helpful.
The elevators are extremely outdated and completely out of place in a hotel that claims to be luxury.
The room was also far below the expected standard. It was clearly dated and in need of renovation. Cleaning was not up to standard: stains in the old carpet, stains on the desk pad, and an overall impression of superficial rather than thorough cleaning. Even the beds were made in a way you would expect from a budget 2-star property, not from a hotel in this price range. Looking out of the window was not enjoyable either due to the dirty glass and neglected surroundings. The whole experience felt tired, careless and not very hygienic.
The biggest disappointment, however, was breakfast. This is where the gap between price and quality becomes undeniable. The setup feels chaotic and unprofessional, the food quality is mediocre at best, much of it seems processed or pre-prepared, and there is very little that feels fresh or premium. Basic items such as unsalted butter were not available. Even simple things like jam were not replenished until you specifically asked, while staff passed by repeatedly. That small detail says everything about the lack of attention and proactive service.
To make matters worse, hotel guests are required to make a reservation for breakfast. If it is fully booked, you simply do not get breakfast at all. For a hotel in this price category, that is almost unbelievable.
Service in the restaurant felt impersonal and untrained. Hygiene standards did not always inspire confidence, staff rarely anticipated guest needs, and overall there was very little sense of genuine hospitality.
For travellers who are used to the well-organized, high-quality breakfast buffets commonly found in many European hotels, this property will be a major disappointment. The standard here is far below that level. If you are used to very simple or fast-food style options, you might find it acceptable, but even then the price is impossible to justify. For what is delivered, the rate would need to be at least half of what is currently charged. In its present state, this hotel is simply not worth the money.
Taken together, this is not a 4-star experience in any meaningful sense. The core issues are outdated facilities, inconsistent cleanliness, unprofessional service and a huge mismatch between price and quality. You pay for luxury, but what you receive is a tired hotel that lacks real hospitality and attention to detail.
I would not stay here again and I cannot recommend it to travellers who value service, quality and proper hotel standards. With serious investment in renovation and staff training, this could be a wonderful property, but right now it falls far short of the level it claims to offer.
Valet-only parking, dated and poorly maintained interiors, unclean room with stained carpet and desk pad, unprofessional reception, very basic breakfast with reservations required and items not replenished, overall poor value for the price.
I liked the hotel's history, the cake pops left by housekeeping. Bed was super comfortable too and Anacocha restaurant was a delicious.
I didn't like that the hotel did not accept cash. That's a convenience expected of most hotels and it hurt my ability to tip staff.
Location was nice and the lobby looked very nice.
The hotel is little run down. Bathroom was dirty and some towels were falling apart. They seem to be understaffed, lines for check in, restaurant and check out. A/C didn't work, we were sweating all night, thankfully we came only for one night, so it wasn't so bad. The room smelled little funky, probably old carpet. Some of the wallpaper was peeling off. I would not call this luxury.
