Excellent breakfast. Hotel was convenient to areas I was visiting.
The heat/air in the room did not work properly. No blackout curtains so the room was bright all night. The shower stall was nasty, not from dirt or mold. It was chipped and discolored all around the bottom. Definitely needed to be replaced/upgraded.
Don't book this hotel. I showed up with a reservation confirmation through booking.com and the hotel not only wouldn’t honor it they wouldn’t help me find other accommodations. They blamed booking.com and booking.com blamed the hotel. Beyond frustrating.
It was comfortable and close to where I needed to be.
I booked for the pool and the gym. The pool was being renovated and the treadmills weren't working in the gym and there were few weights to choose from. My roomed smelled like an animal had died in it. The walls on the first floor and second floor were coming apart, tape on some areas and damaged wallpaper on the rest. The breakfast was minimal, compared to when I stayed last fall.
Location good. Breakfast good. Room comfortable.
One diet soda and bottle of water was $7!
TV had no ABC, CBS OR NBC.
Checkin was smooth. Pauline was super: friendly attentive and organized - great front desk employee!!!
Was looking forward to a cup of hot tea to unwind from a long day but none to be found; not even in the room.
I did grab a wrapped red delicious apple from the bowl only to get to the room, unwrap it and find it in almost an applesauce state. Not edible at all.
We were fully aware the hotel was under renovations and the pool was closed. We just didn’t expect to find our room in such a condition.
You could hear toilets flushing. People walking down the hall, there was considerable space around the door which let in light and noise. Not sure if the wallpaper in the bathroom was new or old. It was buckled, pulling away from the wall, cut short at the baseboard. There was visible patchwork on the walls - which I’d be fine with. But everything else? Floor under the carpet was pitted and weirdly soft in spots. We were on the second floor.
The tub caulk was in poor shape and not very clean. One of our washcloths was so dingy I think it was a cleaning rag.
Breakfast was normal except they only have 2 types of tea. Both black. That was disappointing. I’ve never been to a Hampton that didn’t have a nice selection of herbal teas.
Looked for a fresher apple to no avail. I doubt we would stay again as there are many other hotel choices in the area. We prefer Hampton’s when we travel domestically- they are generally good.
This room made me embarrassed to say I use this chain enough to be a diomand member. I felt dirty just walking in. The pictures compared.to.the a tual rooms verge on bait and switch or false advertising. Hilton brands should be embarreses of this location!
Location was good!
Did not use the breakfast.
Room air conditioner did not work very well. Every time we walked into the room, it was stuffy. The lotion by the sink probably hadn't been used in a while and there was a big plug of dried lotion inside of it. Had to keep pumping it to get the lotion out. Housekeeping should test those things.
Breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable, rooms are a little small, but bathroom is very large and nice.
The pool was shut down. Every time I've called there about possibly staying, the pool is always closed. So we don't even try to stay there anymore.
Nothing.
Food taste was terrible. Food was cold. No variety. No fresh fruit being summer except some wrapped apples. Juice machine out of order. Ran out of coffee. Coffee too strong though it was medium blend.
Booked my stay under my name. Got the confirmation email under my name and still was not able to check in since the transaction was somehow linked to my husbands rewards program.
Unlike most Hampton Inns, which are 3 star hotels, I would say this one is comparable to a 1 star hotel ... or a low quality 2 star. I've stayed in A LOT of Hampton Inns across the country and this one surprised me ... but not in a good way. The rooms / carpet / bathrooms / fixtures are all beginning to show their age. Some remodeling has been done ... but has been done poorly. They may also be having some trouble with cleaning staff because as soon as we opened the door to our room the first thing we noticed was a cigarette butt on the tile right in the middle of the hallway by the bathroom door. We asked for another room and the front desk attendant was friendly, apologetic, and accommodating. There were no cigarette butts in the second room, but it was obvious the floor under the bathroom vanity had not been swept or mopped (a bunch of crumbs) and there was mildew / mold growing in the shower corners and on the shower curtain. The sink did not drain properly and the soap dispenser in the shower was empty.
I almost always stay at Hampton Inns because of the consistent quality of the rooms. This is the first one that has disappointed me. Steer clear if you are expecting 3-star quality.
UPDATE:
I wrote this review last night after check in. Revising from 2 stars down to 1 after our Saturday morning breakfast experience. I went down around 8:15 a.m. to grab something to drink from the breakfast bar. The regular coffee carafe was missing (being refilled?) so I went for the decaf carafe. The coffee was cold ... which means that it was probably there from the prior morning. Striking out there, I went to the juice machine and tried to get OJ. It came out like water ... so that was out. (NOTE: this was not a crowded morning at the hotel ... very few people there). Ok then ... option #3 ... apple juice. SUCCESS!
While enjoying the apple juice, my daughter enters the scene. She goes to the juice machine, hits the apple juice button, and also gets apple juice. Except hers came with a garnish ... several dead ants. Wondering if the ants had been in the cup, we threw that one out and tried again. More ants poured out with the apple juice from the dispenser. We alerted the breakfast attendant and decided that it was probably best to eat breakfast elsewhere.
My advice? DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL. Yikes ... it was bad.
My wife and I (Hilton. Honors Members) booked a stay for two nights at the Hampton Inn in Marysville Ohio. We stayed here before, however the conditions of Room 326 were below what we've come to expect from a Hilton Hotel.
Housekeeping: There were dust bunnies and lent in every corner in the bathroom and by the entry door inside and outside room 326. The shower had what appeared to be discolored yellow/orange grout or caulking in the shower around the base.
The bed was so hard my wife's back and my hips hurt for the entire day. We went down to the front desk to inquire about a mattress topper and the front desk lady told my wife she had to call the manager to see if they even had what we were requesting. She informed my wife that they did not.
We woke up and tried to open the horizontal blinds to discover they were broken none of the stings were present and we could not let natural light into the room.
We went down to breakfast at 7:am to make waffles and get a cup of dark roast coffee. Only to discover that there was no dark roast coffee and there was no waffle mix. We again inquired about the waffle mix and was informed that the waffle machine was broken. We asked about the dark roast coffee seeing that there was light roast, hot water and decaffeinated coffee out. She proceeded to tell me that the light and dark roast coffee was the same coffee. My wife and I tried to make the most of the breakfast that was provided only to come to the conclusion that we would get breakfast outside of the hotel at a restaurant. The egg omelets were burned and the sausage looked undercooked as well as the potatoes.
My wife and I decided to cut our stay short and check out.
This was totally unacceptable for a Hilton brand. If I wanted to stay at an Econolage, Red Roof, or Motel 8 I would've booked there.
Hampton Inn in Marysville Ohio, you need to do better. We will not be staying at this location ever again.
To those looking to stay here, you have been warned, stay elsewhere.
