Great all around - especially the people

Great hotel - great people at the reception - Rowdy and Sam, the shuttle drivers, are especially amazing people and assets to the experience that on their own set this hotel apart - when we’re here again for short visits at MDACC, this will be our choice -

Awful experience
Pros:

This was an awful experience. Your front staff is the rudest I’ve dealt with in a long time. Also your system was down the first night I was here and the process was excruciating.

Very disappointed for a Doubletree by Hilton
Pros:

Since I arrived i have not received a key to enter my room, security has to use one elevator to take everyone up and down. Takes about 15 minutes to go down elevator. Im very shocked that they haven't been able to fix this.
The staff has responded appropriately.

Pros:

The location is great, the food is great, and the staff is great! Rowdy and Sam make the trip a blast!!! Rowdy and Sam are the 2 best drivers in Houston! We will never stay anywhere else! Regardless which one you ride with, Rowdy and Sam are "ALWAYS ON TIME"!!!! Thanks guys!

Parking issues
Pros:

We had trouble finding parking for about 30 minutes front desk said they had additional parking at another Hotel in back but it was full. When I checked out went down to let them know what happened and the lady said unfortunately we have open parking for non guest that can pay and park here as well that’s why parking gets full. Our stay was good no issues with our room but parking is horrible and when you still pay $25 to park that makes it even more upsetting.

Hairy situation
Pros:

Not our first stay at a Doubletree but will be the last time we will stay here. I would like to hire the photographer that took the photos for this website. It is 100% deceiving and lures you in. And because we have stayed in a Doubletree before are expectations were high.

The room is smaller than advertised, so prepare for that. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. Light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Overall three stars.

Breakfast Buffet: Everything was ok, up until we hit the breakfast buffet. $20 for the buffet and there was no extra charge for the hair in eggs. Everything was borderline disgusting and the vending machine was more appealing. After I pointed the hair in the eggs ordeal to the manager, she acted like it was normal.
No offer for compensation, just took the plate af eggs and hair and that was that. Please save your money and go somewhere else as this buffet is not what is in the photos.
For the price you’d expect better and being a Hilton, you’d expect more.

coffee pot was broke. Went down stairs, Coffee was not ready. Had to go early for my medical test. Had to have our door opener scanned 3 times. 1st time opened. 2nd was phone, 3rd would not work/ okay. Close to hospital

Above and Beyond
Pros:

This is the hotel I prefer when I come to MDAnderson. I have been coming monthly for several months. They have always been extremely friendly and accommodating. Several employees have gone above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I once had an issue with a room, and I was immediately booked into another. The shuttle runs hourly Monday-Friday, and is a huge help. I once had an issue getting to a weekend appointment, and they were able to assist me. The breakfast buffet is like none other! It is delicious, has lots of options, and has the best staff! The entire hotel is always clean and comfortable. I can’t say enough good things about this Doubletree! They have been wonderful, and I will continue to stay here when I return.
