No pool, TV service not connected, shades not working properly, light bulbs burned out in several areas and smell in room as you entered.
Not the cleanest property. I would probably never go this hotel again. I thought it was going to go a place since they were having wedding there. Bartender was very rude to all guest.
Overall guest service was good. Still advertised with a swimming pool they do not have. Also no cable and the internet connection slowish.
This hotel was the worst I have ever stayed in. Construction noise right next door every day, including on the weekend, with no advance warning. The breakfast buffet was worse than mediocre - scrambled eggs every day, plus individual pastries that someone had wrapped in Saran Wrap and that were pathetic; little to no fruit; at least the coffee was good. The window screen was shredded - literally flapping in the wind, so I was forced to use the noisy A/C. I stayed for three nights, four days and never once did housekeeping clean the room. Not a singe piece of artwork on any wall - the room was utterly sterile, albeit clean, but it didn't stay that way because of no housekeeping. I could go on and on. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.
The first issue for us was seeing the Don't Tread on Me Flag (yellow with serpent) outside the building on the tall flagpole next to the OH State flag and American flag, as seen in the picture for the hotel. This is completely inappropriate.
This hotel is completely neglected with minimum staff. The carpets in the elevator and in our room were filthy dirty. The light above the vanity did not work. The vanity and tub did not drain efficiently. The TV in the suite area did not work, and the kitchen sink was leaking water. In addition, the ice machine on our floor was out of service, and we had to go to another floor to get ice. The pool is also out of service, and has been for months.
The weekday breakfast was disgusting. Cereal, and apples only. No fresh brewed coffee were ever available. Coffee from the machine was not drinkable. My husband went next door to McDonalds to get coffee.
We had to request housekeeping, which was a joke. They brought fresh towels and never made the bed up and day during our stay.
We stayed for a wedding at the LaMalfa Party Center attached to the hotel. The only night there were other guests besides us in the hotel was on Saturday, the night of the wedding. Otherwise, we were the only people staying in the hotel the entire time. I felt like I was in the Shining Movie. The only vehicles in the parking lot everyday, were the two worker's vehicles parked in the disabled spots. It's easy to understand why nobody wants to stay at this facility.
I tried reaching out to the Wyndham Corporate Care department, expressing my concerns as noted above. They informed me, this hotel is independently owned by a franchise. Obviously, this owner has no interest in maintaining a hotel that meets the standard of excellence expected by visitors and Wyndham..
Needed a good nights sleep. Room was
VERY QUIET.
Room was not layed out very well. It was hard to find the hotel orginally as it was not well lit up.
Nice clean room, comfortable bed and AMAZING rainfall shower! I really appreciated being close to restaurants, shopping and my family.
Booked this hotel location July 22, 2023 for an August 3, 2023 one night stay for our anniversary. The main reason that we booked it was the indoor pool that we were going to use after a full day out exploring the area. When we got to the hotel we checked in and then proceeded to find the pool only to discover that it was under construction. Never was this mentioned anywhere on the web site at the time of our reservation. I had used points when I did the original booking and since August of 2023 have been trying to get those points restored since the pool was the only reason that we wanted that location. I have gotten nowhere. Wyndham customer service said that they had to get an OK from the hotel manager to restore those points. After numerous emails to the manager and phone calls I still have not talked to that manager. One of my calls on November 1, 2023, I did have a positive conversation with a desk clerk named Brenda. She took down my concerns and seem to indicate that Gina, the manager would give me a call to discuss the matter. It is now November 11, 2023 and I have not heard from Wingate by Wyndham in Mentor, OH. I am pretty sure that one phone call would settle the matter..... I am very disappointed with Wyndham and this Wingate location.... waiting kb!
Great stay.
The staff was very nice. The stay was comfortable and clean.
A little farther from I90 than we expecte. But nice clean place to sleep.
Well, it was a very last minute booking and I was able to get a room. The room is very nice. Clean. I really have only one complaint. The toilet flushed, but nothing went down. I told the front desk and they were all too quick to have someone come up with a plunger. He handed it to me in a bag at my door and said,”Put it in the hallway when your done..”!!!!😡😡 That’s not the kind of service I expect in a hotel.
Rooms were worn down. The room we stayed in the carpet didnt meet up where the tile was by the bathroom sink so there were carpet strips with the nails sticking out. Sink didnt drain quick enough, shower still had water gushing out of the bathtub faucet, curtains were broken and stained. Smelled great in the room but wasnt worth $150 a night. Also, couldnt watch tv. No one explained anything to us. The tv had to be reconnected to the internet and then signed in through a phone. Then all we could watch was youtube. The cable didn't work and the batteries were eroded in the remote. Not happy at all with the stay except how nice the bed and pillows were.
I have mixed feelings. I don’t exactly know what to say if I’m being honest. It wasn’t great, nor was it horrible. I would stay again though
The room and bathroom were dirty and smelled musty. Very outdated as well. Front desk called me to check in when my flight was delayed questioning when I would arrive because I was holding up her closing out for the day. My card was charged prior to me ever checking in. I wouldn’t even pay $50 a night to stay.
We had a pleasant stay and we were surprised at the quality and variety of breakfast options, including homemade nut loafs. The front staff was outstanding and very pleasant and willing to problem-solve TV and other minor room issues. However, the front desk is understaffed as they were responsible for replenishing the breakfast buffet, checking out guests and physically assisting room issues at the same time. We had a 3 night stay, and they were short staffed all 3 days. It appears you need to hire more staff as one individual should not need to do everything!
When I arrived to my room I noticed dirty area after dirty area. This led me to check the sheets and mattress. The mattress had an excessively large circular blood stain (the size of a serving platter). I immediately took pictures and went to the front desk staff. I was informed that she put me in this room because the mattress was brand new. It was disgusting.
The employee assigned me to the room next door. That room was just as filthy, except the mattress did not have the huge blood stain.
The next morning, I had to hunt down staff to check me out. This staff member could care less that I had been waiting probably 15 minutes for him to return from wherever he was (mind you it was 6-6:30am). Then he seemed like I was causing him all sorts of trouble when I requested a printed receipt. He informed me that I would have to wait for him to turn his computer on!
It was a very nice place and the discounted rate made it all the better.
They claim the pool was under construction. However from what I observed there wasn’t any work being done and it looked like it was being used for storage. Plus they didn’t notify third party sites the pool was out of service. First room tv didn’t work. So they moved us 20 rooms down the hall. Meaning we had to pack everything back up and move. Then came breakfast. First morning was nothing more than frozen breakfast sandwiches. The next day was a good breakfast with all the trimmings. Guess it’s just pot luck on what you’ll get. The outside door near our room wouldn’t work with the key card. The room was clean and comfortable but for the price it could be much better.
