Staff very friendly good service excellent food at the bar

Last minute booking and was very lucky to have a lakeside view double room which I must say the view. Checked in and was welcomed by two lovely young ladies on the desk who were amazing! Rooms are lovely, smart tv’s and perfect space. We were having issues with the TV and WiFi connection, immediately sorted by the manager who kindly changed our room to solve this issue. So grateful and was an amazing stay! We will definitely be back, so relaxing and a lovely walk around the lake. Online pictures / bookings sites do not do this place justice it’s definitely worth the money and a beautiful hotel! Thank you again!!

The reception staff were outstanding. They went to great lengths to ensure our rooms were close to each other. All the staff were really kind and friendly and took great care of us. The hotel is looking good! Breakfast was fresh and delicious with loads of choices. We will definitely stay again! Thank you all v much.

Had a lovely stay at Copthorne. Room was clean , quiet area , like the view of the lake from our room , staff was very friendly and helpful, enjoyed breakfast and had a great sleep. The hotel is near restaurants and shopping places and a short walk to the bus stop. Only downside is that the bathroom needs updating . But overall, had a great stay at this hotel.

Hotel was good - bed very comfortable and room clean , some places looked like they might need a bit of tidying up/making good . Staff were lovely, didn’t take too long to get into or back from Cardiff centre

Great place to stay

Hotel is recovering from not having guests for a long time. Staff are excellent, and the visible parts are kept clean. However a lot of money needs to be spent by the owners to upgrade the rooms, plumbing, electrics etc. The leisure facilities and meeting areas need to be redone completely. This is not a case of painting and cleaning. Please Compton’s management spend the money.

Just perfect area with walkable shopping areas. The Lakeside view was relaxing. Excellent views.

This the Cardiff hotel you must use. One of the best hotels I have used in a long time. Great staff!

Was lovely room, nice and clean. Customer service was good. Dinning was good but do need more ffood option in my opinion.

Great location. Feels rural - my friend saw a kingfisher! - but is right next to a useful small retail park and very reachable by road. Everything except the bath plug worked. Cosy. Nice staff. Excellent breakfast. For the night that we booked, it was good value, though it often costs more.

Stayed overnight for my wife’s College Reunion.
Lovely, spacious room (407) with good facilities, including very comfortable, king-sized bed and great, over-bath shower.
All the staff were attentive and efficient, providing friendly but not overly-familiar service. ‘Sir’ and ‘Madam’ used, rather than the ‘Mate’ which seems prevalent in some establishments.
Delicious, buffet breakfast!

It was the venue for our 60 year reunion of when we all met at teacher training college in Barry in 1965. The duty manager (?) could not have done more for us and made our reunion dinner an event to remember. We all enjoyed our meals and loved being able (and encouraged) to sing the songs from our college days. Thank you so much

Had a lovely weekend at the hotel, great friendly welcome at reception upon check in. The food in the restaurant was lovely as was the breakfast. The room was comfortable and clean, would happily return.
