1. The staff tried to refuse to check us in because we arrived after 10 pm. There was nothing on our reservation that said there was a 10 pm cut off for checking in. The staff was unpleasant, but when I insisted, she checked us in.
2. Despite the hotel was non-smoking, our room smelled of pot smoke.
3. There was a dangerous 1” unmarked threshold elevation to the toilet/shower room.
4. There was nothing information provided at check-in or otherwise about the included breakfast. There was no one at the desk to ask about it and there was no signage directing where it could be found.

The property is very clean very quiet. The rooms are amazing. The beds very comfortable. I love the customer service. The guys in the front desk is very friendly and he made me feel welcome. If you are traveling to the Salinas area I would definitely recommend to stay at the Howard Johnson. It’s definitely very clean comfortable
