Gorgeous hotel and views
Rooms need a bit of upgrading;
no safe in room,
no grab bars in bathroom
Theresa at front desk just lovely, and extremely helpful
We totally enjoyed our three night stay in July. The location of the hotel on Little Traverse Bay is just spectacular. Add in the beautiful landscaping and you will feel like you have escaped to a little slice of paradise! We experienced excellent customer service during our stay, from the sweet treats at the pool to the kind servers at the breakfast buffet.
We hope to return next summer!
We had a little hiccup at check-in, but Carter provided the type of customer service you rarely see these days. He was polite and empathetic while providing a solution. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. There are so many small details that make the stay fantastic. The fitness center is nice. The hot tub and pool are great as well with ample chairs and towels. There is even a sandy beach area by the lake, which you can swim in during the summer. We are already planning our next stay thanks to a wonderful experience.
We did not stay here but ordered dessert and ate it on the back porch facing the lake. Enjoyed beautiful sunset views. The Apple Brown Betty was fantastic.
What a disappointment! Don’t waste your money. We reserved a 3 bedroom cottage for our family of 8. No one called us when the room was ready - we had to go to desk at 4:30 to ask what the status was. Lunch at Vintage while we were waiting was $500 - with three kids meals. From the moment we arrived all we heard was “we’re short staffed”. The property doesn’t get to charge me over $4,000 for a three night stay and then tell me there short staffed. Open table at Vintage but they wouldn’t seat guests because ‘they’re short staffed’. I went to the concierge desk at 7:00 to get help with a dinner reservation - oh, she’s not here tonight, and we’re too busy to help you.
The beds are uncomfortable and need new mattresses, the air conditioning was freezing in one floor and hardly working on the upper floor.
We were so looking forward to this trip and had to spend too much money for a very disappointing experience. We live in Michigan and love northern Michigan. We will not be back. We’ll spend our money elsewhere:(.
We were here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our 20 year anniversary and from the start the staff, service and amenities were great. Fitness room is great and for the exception of the heated pool being closed we took advantage of the hot tub when everyone else didn’t….leaving us to have it to ourselves. They left a bottle of champagne and kind note as well. Price was much more tolerable than the summer rates as well. Room was great with kitchenette and fireplace. We stayed on the quarry side which allowed us a great stay without breaking the bank. Will b back if we see the same reviews next year!
Loved the colors in the cottage! So soothing!
Needed a few more glasses and bigger glasses for drinks.
My son brought me to the Inn at Bay Harbor Spa to treat me for my birthday. We were met by a rude older lady who I think name is Liz. Don’t think just because you spend several hundred dollars there you’re going to be treated with kindness and respect because that was not my experience at this spa. I was lounging in the lounge after my paid service and was told by this woman I had to leave they wanted to close. We have stayed at the Inn at Bay Harbor several times and the front desk and housekeeping staff are phenomenal! However I would not recommend waisting money at the spa here, go to Boyne Mountain.
We love Bay Harbor in general. We have stayed at the cottages, the suites, the condos and the Inn
We keep coming back. We love the Petoskey-Harbor Springs area.
We did a mid-week "weekend" girls getaway. We started with shopping in downtown Petoskey, which was great even with the nasty weather. We were accommodated with an early check-in but since it was mid-week of definitely OFF season, I doubt this was a problem. Of the approximately 24 "cottage" rentals, ours and one other were the only ones occupied. The off-season rate was very reasonable as well.
Being one of only two of 24 "cottage" occupants, it seemed odd that we were placed in a unit just under another that was undergoing repairs of some sort. Construction workers could be heard working and going up and down the stairs our first day and part of the second. Also, we were placed right on the parking lot which had a snow plow making a VERY loud scaping noise starting at about 6:00 AM each morning. Beds were comfortable but sofas are not. Kitchen is VERY minimally outfitted and we found popcorn under the sofa and one of the beds.
This is a georgeos cottage. We loved everything about it and will be back.
We stayed the weekend here for a wedding. Our rooms were not ready at the check in time (we were actually late) and thus we missed the rehearsal dinner. The staff at the front desk was rude and did little to nothing to help or offer any concessions, they didn’t even apologize or offer us the Marriott chocolate chip cookies, and we are Marriott peeps. I had to ask for the cookies. We arrived at around 4pm and our rooms weren’t ready until 6pm. This area of Michigan is gorgeous and the hotel has beautiful grounds, which made the stay pleasant, but overall the hotel is less to be desired and not worth the expense. We paid $1500 for two nights. One night we ordered 2 glasses of champagne from the bar and they charged us $74. The staff in general was rude and inattentive. The rooms were nice but dated and we had to ask for towels- there were no towels in room upon check in, no soap, no shampoo… nothing. We plan to return to this area of the world again, but will look elsewhere where for accommodations.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and we loved exploring the area on the e-bikes.
Alexandra at Reception provided the best customer service I’ve ever experienced—truly above and beyond. When my friend unexpectedly became very ill during our stay, she showed such compassion and genuine concern, going out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Her kindness and professionalism meant the world to us.
The level of service extended throughout the hotel—from the friendly staff at the pool and restaurant to the team at afternoon tea, where the chef came to our table to speak with us. Every interaction felt sincere and thoughtful.
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for exceptional service, genuine hospitality, and a beautiful place to stay.
had a Thanksgiving dinner at the Inn with my wife. At best it was an embarrassment. At the turkey carving station, I asked for dark meat. They said they will get some as all they could carve was from a white turkey "roll". They brought out little hunks of meat, and when I asked what it was the carver said they took some white meat and put it back in the oven to make it brown....The dessert table had one kind of pie only....stay away. This place is a disgrace.
