A bad stay in New Orleans
Pros:

We really didn't enjoy our stay at your 4* rated International House hotel in New Orleans!

We arrived just after 9pm on 23 April 2026 after a long day of travelling from the UK.
Tired and exhausted we were informed by the duty manager (Roman) that no hot drinks were available in the hotel and the bar would be closed at 10pm if we wanted any other kind of refreshment.

We went to our room (1006). There was no refrigerator or safe in the room we also noted that the net curtains had significant rips in them. Too tired that evening to do anything we went to bed.
The bed was totally uncomfortable with a big sag in the middle.

The following morning we informed reception that we were not happy with the room. But because there was a Jazz Fes on in the city there was no other accommodation that they could offer us, apart from one other room (1106) which had no windows and was rather cramped and totally unacceptable.

We went back to our room and stripped the sheets off our bed to find the mattress was upside down and one of the reasons for the large sag in the middle. We again contacted the duty manager and showed him the room and mattress that was in place. He said the best he could do was to get the mattress replaced, get a fridge and safe installed. The safe came, it was the size of a shoe box and left uninstalled loose on the bed, absolutely useless as a safe.

We had only booked to stay in New Orleans at this hotel for 3 nights and wished we hadn’t booked to stay there at all

This is not a 4* hotel by any means we have stayed in cheap motels that are better.
A total disappointment that unfortunately coloured our stay in lovely New Orleans

A fine hotel that should not host parties in the lobby.
Pros:

While the location and room was very good, I was greeted in the hotel lobby with a very crowded and noisy party that the hotel was hosting. I felt like I was intruding on a private party and had to squeeze by party goers just to check in and then get to the elevator. The lobby area is way too small to host such a crowded and raucous party. It made me — as a hotel — feel very unwelcome. The desk staff was very good, but the overall check-in experience left me with a bad impression of the hotel.

The best surprise
Pros:

I was in New Orleans for a conference, but the conference hotels were sold out. I checked my RCI account and found this place just a few blocks away. From the outside, it didn’t seem remarkable, but once inside, the art and inviting lobby pulled me in. The highlight of the room was the gorgeous bathroom, and there were plenty of wall outlets everywhere—even in the bathroom—which made it easy to plug in the iron.

Comfort and elegance in a historic building
Pros:

International House was recommended as the place to stay during Jazz Fest and it was great! We were a block away from the shuttle bus at the Sheraton but had a boutique experience and a budget price. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms are great: spacious, comfortable beds, and the air conditioning CRANKS. The building is 100 years old and has great character, which can sometimes mean slow elevators, but this place has ALL the upgrades. Highly recommended.

Don’t stay here.
Pros:

Horrible staff. Sneaky fees. Lies. Instead of $60 incidental fee, they only return a dollar. Very rude staff member insulted me when I was being polite. I even gave them some food and cleaned my room. They would not let me talk to a manager. They would not return my money. They said the water was free.
