Sonesta ES Suites San Antonio Northwest Medical Center

The property was in desperate need of upkeep and repairs to the entire facilities. I cannot fathom how this place had such a high score for the condition it is in. The pictures and rating should be updated on Booking.com. Honestly, I could not see myself staying at another Sonesta again in the future. From driving up to the location, I had a feeling that it was more of a motel than a Hotel. When checking in, they placed me into a room that was not selected. When questioning this from the staff, they said this was all they had and did not offer any hospitality options. When coming to the door of the room, it looked like it had been busted into along the frame and door. The door had to be forced open to gain entry and the door handle on the inside was being held together by an oversized flat head screw. The room was very dated and looked to have been from the 90’s era or older. The walls were cracked and paint peeling in numerous areas. The base boards and doors were either broken or missing in portions. We also found bugs in the sheets in the secondary bed. There were interior doors missing and the bathrooms did not have any soap dispensers or soap available. Spoke with the front desk and asked for hand soap and was told they do not carry any since the rooms were upgraded. (Except our room was not upgraded). In the restrooms, there were no toilet paper holders installed and only had half rolls left on top of the toilets. The final straw was when leaving on the last day. I was loading out luggage in the car and when going back to the room, I found out that they had turned our card access off already. When I made it to the breakfast area at 9:02am, I asked if I could get a glass of apple juice and the representative told me that they shut down at 9:00 am. Very frustrating experience and could not fathom how this place stays in business and receives any decent reviews. The sad part was the pool was closed

Our lamp next to the bed was broken. We reported it to the front desk but they didn’t do anything about it, at least not while we were there. We also asked about extending our stay one extra day and the receptionist didn’t seem too thrilled about getting us booked, so I said I would take care of it online and decided just to go ahead and stay for the days that we had originally planned for.

Had bugs in this room. Roaches were visible in kitchen and bathroom area. Kitchen sink was terrible with bugs. Never had this happen in all my stays?

Clean rooms

First pool wasn't able to b used the whole stay. Room keys kept going out. Room service never came the 4 nights we stayed. Mold in one room. Microwave rusted and not cleaned. Icebox look like it was second hand. In one room they had female panties thrown under the table. Then what kinda worried my wife and kids was the vents in bathroom right in shower area right above the shower head. They felt like there could of been cameras hidden in there. They didnt feel comfortable. Breakfast was the same everyday except when they switched up from sausage to bacon one day.

the pool didn’t work and the basketball court and so rounds where not keep clean, give it a bad impression

I did see one roach crawling on the curtins in one of the rooms during our stay and I didn't see any more after that. The pool was closed for cleaning the entire time we were there we had to go across the street to swim at a neighboring hotel. I guess there was a basketball competition that week there were lots of high school boys there and they had track races down the hallways both two days and stayed up being loud sounded like a big party. I overheard someone complaining at the front desk but it was never handled. It kept on the entire time.
