Great historic hotel walking distance to the best of Santa Monica

Hotel style and staff

Cons:

I wouldn’t bother upgrading to an ocean view, because of the shape of the hotel and how far away the ocean is, there is very little view. Our mattress was in bad shape, but I let them know at checkout.

Romantic get away on the beach
Pros:

From being greeted to depature it was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed drinks and lite bites in the lounge, with very comfortable seating and attentive service. A very romantic spot if that's important. Right on the beach and kid-friendly as well. A must if you are in the area. My room was spacious and had a balcony, which made it roomy. They have a house car to take you around town to the mall or restaurants, a very nice feature. Definitely a value for what you get.

Beautiful hotel
Pros:

This is a beautiful hotel on the beach. Walking distance to downtown Santa Monica. We also used the hotel bikes to ride to Venice. Recommend the hotel package w/breakfast. I like the option of breakfast at the hotel or at their sister hotel, Shutters on the Beach. Beautiful large lobby. Music in the evening. Complimentary water and coffee in the morning. There is a fridge in the room- but it's stocked with hotel wine, soda, etc. So there is no space for your snacks or drinks. I've stayed at Shutters on the Beach too. Recommend both.
