Enjoyable and relaxing: minor gripes!
Pros:

This is a really nice relaxing place. The staff were terrific most notably the amazingly and permanently smiling and engaging Lamin.
Our second floor room had a great view of the garden and ocean. It was spacious and well equipped with a large comfortable bed. The enormous bathroom was superb. TV was pretty useless with a couple of local channels and football.
Reasonable WiFi better downstairs in the breakfast room.
Breakfast was basic with done items put out several days in a row. The cooked option started well but as the days progressed the bacon got fattier and bittier. But no real grumbles as better than expected.
Nice pools and garden with easy access to the beach.
We tried to eat here one night but what we were told would be a five minute delay was more than that. We had another commitment so gave up after nearly an hour. Up the track the Roundabout was excellent.
We’d easily stay again if in this area.

Pros:

Tolle Lage direkt am Strand. Zimmer wurde regelmäßig geputzt und war auch in Ordnung. Die Auswahl beim Frühstück fanden wir ausreichend und auch sehr gut. Für 30€ Extra durften wir am letzten Tag später auschecken.

Cons:

Personal meist eher so semi motiviert vor allem an der Rezeption. Bei der Zahlung mit Kreditkarte wurde uns nicht mitgeteilt, dass ein Aufschlag von 3% verrechnet wurde. Viele Sachen die auf der Speisekarte standen, waren nie verfügbar.

Lyxigt hotell nära havet
Pros:

Jättestora rum med havsutsikt. Fin trädgård i anslutning till hotellet. Se upp för söta apor som vill smaka på frukosten. Bra restaurang och bar på hotellet. Solstolar och strand nära hotellet. Det går att betala rummet med euro istället för Dalasi.

Teleurstellend verblijf – gebrek aan zorg, veiligheid en professionaliteit

Wat meeviel was de ruime kamer en de waterdruk in de badkamer en de grote TV

Cons:

Deze locatie ademt vergaande glorie. Dat veel in Gambia verouderd is, snap ik. Wat hier ontbreekt is iets anders: liefde, aandacht en oog voor detail. Het geheel oogt slordig en onverzorgd.

De muziek bij het zwembad staat de hele dag veel te hard en is ronduit irritant. Zelfs in de duurste suite die wij hadden geboekt was dit continu hoorbaar. Rust is hier simpelweg niet te vinden.

Wat mij ernstig heeft verbaasd, is de sterke wietlucht die duidelijk afkomstig was van badmeesters en ander personeel. Daarbij communiceert personeel onderling door over grote afstand naar elkaar te schreeuwen, wat het niveau en de sfeer geen goed doet.

De ontvangst was koel en ongeïnteresseerd, zonder enige uitleg. De wifi is matig en alleen beschikbaar op de kamer — niet bij het zwembad of op het strand, wat anno nu echt onder de maat is.

Het absolute dieptepunt:
Op dag twee kwamen wij terug in onze kamer en stond de deur gewoon open. Mijn man ging verhaal halen en vond op de trap de master key (loper) van alle kamers, achteloos neergelegd door de werkster. Beneden werd bevestigd dat dit inderdaad de sleutel van alle kamers was. Geen schrik, geen excuses, nauwelijks reactie. Je kunt drie bewakers voor de deur zetten, maar als iedereen met één sleutel alle kamers in kan, is dat onacceptabel en onveilig — zeker voor €130 per nacht.

Het ontbijt is tot slot zeer karig, weinig keuze en absoluut niet in verhouding tot de prijs.

Conclusie:
Dit verblijf mist professionaliteit, basisveiligheid en gastvrijheid. Voor deze prijs zijn dit geen details, maar fundamentele tekortkomingen. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Zeer ruime hotelkamer, goed breed bed, erg ruime badkamer met regen douche en bad. 2 lazy boy comfortabele stoelen en salontafel. Prima airco en wifi. Balkon met uitzicht op zee. Ontbijt is prima met lekker stokbrood. Locatie is top aan het strand.

Cons:

Soms 's middags wat storend lawaai/ disco muziek van buren en van eigen muziekinstallatie op eigen terrein in de tuin. Stopt meestal om 19.00 uur.

Fantastic hotel, exceptional staff, highly recommended
Pros:

I have visited a few hotels in The Gambia over a few years and Kasumai beach hotel is one of my favourites.
The staff are all amazing and so friendly that it feels like you are family.
The beach is beautiful and the views amazing I watched the sunset most evenings drinking a fresh coconut (bliss)
The grounds are spotless and the restaurant serves high quality food with a variety of choices delivered with exceptional service.
The reception staff are fantastic and helpful.
The house keeping are amazing with their warm greetings and attentiveness.
The rooms are very spacious, with a large bathroom, great size bed and comfortable pillows.
The rooms include a fridge, Tea and coffee facilities and a hairdryer.
The only criticism I have is the bumpy track leading to the hotel from the road. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I would highly recommend Kasumai Beach Hotel. I would stay here again.
