This was a large corporate room block and we were all blown away by the hospitality and professionalism of the staff. definitely will recommend The Emeline to anyone traveling to CHS!
Our recent stay at Hotel Emeline was absolutely upsetting and unacceptable from start to finish. We were not informed in advance about a 3.16% credit card surcharge, which already felt misleading, but the situation only worsened after checkout.
We were wrongfully charged a $250 smoking fee, despite the fact that neither my husband nor I smoke. This accusation is completely false and insulting. As if that weren’t bad enough, this was also our first experience ever having to kill a cockroach in the bathroom of a hotel room—something no guest should have to deal with, especially at a hotel of this caliber and price point.
When we contacted customer care to dispute the charge, we were hung up on twice, which is beyond unprofessional and unacceptable. We were then told that no refund would be considered until their engineers could test the fire alarm, leaving us stuck with an unfair charge, no clear timeline, and no accountability.
Between the hidden fees, false smoking charge, unsanitary room conditions, and dismissive customer service, this hotel has completely failed in providing even basic hospitality. I am absolutely disgusted by how this situation was handled.
We will not be returning and will be sure to share this experience with friends, family, and anyone considering staying here. Save yourself the frustration and stay elsewhere.
I stayed at the Emeline while visiting family the week of Christmas. This was my second Christmas stay, my last was 3 years ago. The hotel once again exceeded my expectations, upon check in I was ungraded to a beautiful suite. My family in Charleston enjoyed visiting the hotel every evening we ate at Frannie and The Fox, loved the burnt honey pizza which we enjoyed on the beautiful patio by the fireplace. Shoutout to the excellent valet guys, especially Mark and Oliver always helpful.
First I would like to start with our arrival and Christine was as the front desk and could not
Have been nicer with her big smile and kindness!
Then Jimmy our favorite waiter for breakfast ! He is so awesome we wanted to take him home ! What a beautiful person and so welcoming and fun!
Our bartender in the back den was Daniel another incredible addition ! Described all the special drinks and had the cutest ornaments in his beard
The I believe the waiter in our Terr was Tyler ! Fabulous !
Rooms always were so clean and neat when we arrived back after a fun day and we just look forward to the day we can return’
it was amazing but thanks to Misael server was amazing! Just for his hospitality i would come back again it was fantastic
Tanner was extremely helpful with bringing our bags in and out of the hotel making our experience one of a kind. His kindness and service is the reason we will travel back to stay at Emeline. The Location of Emeline is in perfect walking distance from all shops and restaurants. The atmosphere was lovely and clean.
Great stay. The hotel was so central to everything in the city. The room was so clean and the staff was so friendly helpful. Ashley and Colby helped us at check-in and were lovely, they helped me mail some postcards I had written for my family. And Oliver and Tanner at the valet did a phenomenal job helping me with my bags and helping me order my uber! Despite my heavy bags they were smiling and talking with me. All in all 10 out of 10 experience. Will definitely be staying here the next time I’m in Charleston.
Upon arrival the valet was excellent, plus had our luggage in our room in 15 minutes
- check in was a breeze, with a complementary eggnog to start our stay
- Our room was perfect, plus it was decorated with Christmas decorations thru out, with tree, Christmas pillows and several Nutcrackers thru out the room
- the Frannie & the Fox restaurant was outstanding, and our service Jimmie made our experience enjoyable
- the ambience through out the hotel was impeccable
- Even the hotel manager, Rachael, was the friendliest hotel manager we ever met.
- if we had any complaints, it’s the room trash cans are too small
- overall we had a wonderful from the hotel to the city of Charleston
- will stay there again in the future, you can’t beat the location, makes walking around the historic city easy
Thank you for the multiple sides of hair in my to go meal. Spoke to management, told them I didn’t want a refund of my meal, just questioned their kitchen and personal cleanliness.
The hotel charges a high price amenity fee but doesn’t deliver on it. You’re suppose to receive free drink tokens at two sister restaurants which are never received. Each room is suppose to have complimentary sodas and snacks which aren’t there. The king size room is a joke and the bed barely fits in the room. I prepaid and they still charged the amenity fee after arrived. Be careful booking this hotel. You may pay less at better hotels with less deceptive practices.
Michael’s service was exceptional. He made us feel like family. We were on a staycation and asked for some great places to have cocktails and appetizers. He went above and beyond to find recommendations. It was an amazing experience, and he is definitely worth his money.
The Emeline was stunning! The staff were friendly and very helpful in answering questions and catering to our needs.
It was beautifully decorated for the holidays!
From the moment we arrived, our experience at Emeline was nothing short of exceptional. This was my first time staying here, and I casually mentioned that to Rachel, the hotel manager — and what she did next truly embodied true Southern hospitality.
Rachel went above and beyond by upgrading our stay to the Craig Conover room, and her thoughtfulness made our visit feel incredibly special and personal. It wasn’t just an upgrade — it was a genuine act of kindness that made us feel welcomed, valued, and truly taken care of.
Emeline itself is stunning: stylish, warm, and perfectly curated with that effortless Charleston charm. Every detail feels intentional, from the inviting atmosphere to the impeccable service. But it’s the people — especially Rachel — who truly set this hotel apart.
Because of this experience, Emeline will be the only hotel I stay at in Charleston going forward. Exceptional service like this leaves a lasting impression, and Rachel turned our stay into a memory I’ll always cherish.
Thank you for setting the bar so high — we’ll be back again!
We love the service at Emeline. The valet team of Mark and Oliver are great guys and they took amazing care of my wife and I. They are first class!! Our room was clean and Frannie and the Fox was fun. The only negative is the $200.00 fee for a pet. That is a big profit grab and will likely cause us to look elsewhere next trip.
Outstanding staff members Ramona, Thanh and AJ made our stay at Emeline very enjoyable. Their dedication to great hospitality compensated for disappointing guest conditions such as sagging mattress, hazardous slick shower floor, no hot water one night, loose faucet fixtures, surprisingly thin towels, burned out bathroom ceiling lightbulb and overall poor room & bathroom lighting. These staff members did their best with what they were able to do. Mattress was flipped, rubber mat placed in shower, offered to bring more lamps, extra towels, etc. Food at Frannie & Fox was excellent. Everything was great except for issues noted. You are fortunate to have such dedicated staff.
This was our first time to Frannie and the Fox. Misael was our waiter. He was very attentive, informative, and took the time to give us recommendations, along with wine pairing suggestions with our food choices. You could tell he was very passionate about his job, the food, and wanted our time there to be memorable. Thank you Misael for a wonderful time!
I had a great stay - met friends to kick off the holidays !
Valet guys were especially helpful - Jesse and Mark took great care of us !
Doug, Josh, and Taylor back in the back bar were the best!! Me and my girlfriends came in for a holiday drink and we had the best time chatting with the bartenders. They were super helpful and knowledgeable, Doug gave us a whole dissertation on Amaro! Would 15/10 reccomend stopping her for a cocktail!
Cute little spot with great vibes, tasty drinks, and cozy decor, perfect spot to relax and unwind! Staff is also very welcoming and kind.
The Hotel in general was a 10. As soon as you walk in, it smells very luxury. The staff always greets you. Interior decor is very thought of and elevated. Rooms are a whole vibe. Reminds me of dark academia esthetic if that makes sense. Super edgy. It was a rainy day so we opted to stay in and over from their restaurant Frankie and the fox. Pizza was delicious. Can’t remember the name but their specialty Caesar salad was a hit. We also had breakfast at the their lounging little nook area. Tyler took our breakfast order and recommended their house made eggnog coffee cake. Soo good and their chocolate croissant was one of the best I’ve ever had. I’m not even exaggerating. Thank you Emeline for providing us an extraordinary stay.
