It’s disgusting. We spent 3 days with no AC. Rusted metal in the bathroom. Peeling wood. Broken mirrors. Dirty. Dusty. I’ve never written a review and this deserves tk be shared.
Hotels.com have been wonderful. Sonder have been absolutely terrible. Rude woman on reception when we arrived. Snatched phone off my daughter as we couldn’t get online to checkin. Broken sofa bed. Room changed which was worse as it was unclean, damaged bathroom furniture, faulty plug sockets which sparked. Stained bedding and towels. Industrial sounding AC in bedroom. AC didn’t work in lounge. Uncomfortable sofa bed. Complained but never saw a manager, just unhappy looking staff in a cubby hole for a reception. Booked a superior room. The only thing superior was the price. No mirror, toilet roll holder broken, hooks on wall broken, horrible odour, the only good thing was one member of staff - Susan who tried her best, alone on our first night. Have spent my entire trip trying to sort out this mess. Avoid Sonder
They were a lot of positives, there was a lot of space for the apartment we booked. It looks as though we were upgraded from a one bedroom to a two bedroom, which was super nice. Especially traveling with the kids. The kitchen area was more than sufficient. Plenty of storage space. It was clean.
The area was very walkable. And there was excellent parking within a block of the hotel.
I would stay again.
I only had two drawbacks.
1. When I attempted to call the hotel, I kept getting rerouted to a call center. And they had no information about the local hotel at all (like does the kitchen have an oven? – No it does not. It has like a microwave air fryer thing.) or can someone give me directions to the hotel door? GPS is sending me somewhere incorrect…or lastly, where do we pull over to unload luggage?
2. While I was aware that there was no parking at the hotel, (and I had booked a parking spot very close by) I was not aware that there was absolutely nowhere to pull over to unload baggage. You quite literally had to block the street.
And it was a single lane, one way, busy street.
also, signage is literally just the sign on the door. There’s no large sign at this location.(so you really have to look.)
Loved the apartment as it was spacious and bright with all the mod cons you need. Staff were so nice and helpful and the set up for getting clean towels and toilet rolls worked perfectly. The roof top seating was a bonus. Definitely recommend.
We had a great stay at Sonders. The apartments were great and served our family of 6 well. Quite spacious for a New York hotel- especially given the location! Any issues we had the hotel took care of immediately.
My children loved the lounge and the pool table on the second floor. We were in town for a family wedding so this was a nice place to hang out in the evenings together opposed to all cramming into one apartment.
There is a grocery store across the street that was pricey, but Manhattan isn't a place you can save money :). We just made sure to grab some veggies and breakfast food to have on hand for slower mornings and veggie intake after our endless pizza slices!
Rooftop was also a nice place to take in the sights and hang out.
I was expecting a bit more of a premium room and also didn't realize there wasn't daily housekeeping, etc. It was fine no major complaints, just nothing spectacular.
Great place for families. Large comfortable rooms. Close to subway.
Really ideal for a business trip to New York. Round the corner from Fulton station. Local amenities great. Super comfortable bed and great shower. Pretty much everything you need. Room was maybe a little tired but honestly, I’m booking next time I come in a few weeks.
Amazing stay
I’ve stayed at various Sonder locations multiple times, including both this one and the one near Battery Park, so I’m quite familiar with the rooms. I specifically booked a room with a couch bed, but when I arrived, I was given a room with only a couch. I don’t make mistakes like this when booking, so it was clearly an error on their part.
When I asked to switch rooms to avoid having to sleep on the floor, I was told that no rooms were available, even at their other location. There wasn’t even a rollaway bed to offer. Instead, they gave me an air mattress that was dirty and had a hole in it, so I couldn’t use it. In the end, I had to sleep on the couch, which was incredibly uncomfortable. I ended up pulling a muscle in my back, completely ruining my trip.
Given this experience, I will no longer be staying at Sonder.
It was small but nice, the tub had a slow drain, not the end of the world but just wanted to mention. Also, a creepy guy was walking around the lobby, made me feel very uncomfortable and the doorman stated he lived there. As my husband and I entered the elevator along with the two young ladies he got on as well and was very openly gawking at them smiling very suspiciously. I wouldn’t recommend to anyone traveling alone, you can’t tell who lives there or who is renting, it’s a strange set up. Everything was super easy as far as instructions though I did have to download a whole app to get the check in instructions.
We loved our stay at Sonder on One Platt. It was way bigger than we expected it to be and super comfortable. Really close to the subway, grocery store and lots of restaurant/ bars. We would definitely stay there again.
Please keep in mind that this is an apartment-hotel, not a typical hotel which would provide daily housekeeping and other amenities. That being said, the unit we reserved was a 2BR/2BA unit that had a full kitchen and plenty of storage space. I think the condition of the unit seemed a bit worn as the cabinet doors to the bathroom vanities were rather water damaged in certain parts. The water pressure from the water conserving shower heads was a bit low and the shower drains in the primary bathroom was rather slow and water pooled quite often. The unit was reasonably clean, but I could definitely see dust/dirt on some baseboards, especially behind the bathroom doors when you closed them. Furthermore, some of the towels seemed a bit worn. That being said, the bed linens were clean and of a reasonable thread count. One thing to note was that there was construction in the adjacent property and it was quite loud. The windows are not particularly well insulated against sound and construction noises could be heard throughout the night. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Not sure how long construction will continue to go on here, but it is something to consider before staying at this property.
The unit provided ample space for our family of 5 and I would consider staying here again since it was a pretty convenient walk to the subway from this location and there were a number of dining options close to the building as well as 7-11 one street away and a grocery store nearby.
A good-sized aparthotel in a great, safe location for downtown Manhattan/Brooklyn tourist attractions and a short walk to Fulton Street subway station. Beds were comfortable, with not too much street noise at night. But some fixtures e.g some lights didn't work and it wasn't as luxurious as the photos suggested. It was also quite a dark room but overall it was a good clean, comfortable hotel room which met out holiday needs.
The apartment was not cleaned well, the pull out bed was unusable, the bathtub did not drain properly.
Amplio apartamento, con habitación principal separada. Buenas ubicación para controlar andando el tercio sur de Manhattan, el puente de Brooklyn y los barrios rebereños de este último.
The photos are fairly deceptive - the apartment is really poorly lit. There’s lights in the hallway, the bathroom and one tiny light in the living area/kitchen. And NO ceiling light in the bedroom. There’s a lamp in each which do not light the place sufficiently. So the time when you’re in the room is awkwardly dark. The A/C in the apartment - 2 of them - are really loud.
The surrounding area is really good though. But that’s just New York I guess. There’s always good food. There’s some good bars. And the shops are not far.
App service- all cleaning/contact with wonder is through the app. Which is ok and fast and responsive. Though when I asked for a nearby grocery store they suggested something 6 miles away even though there was something across the street (hadn’t found it yet) and then another store about a mile away. So gotta take some of the app information/city guide stuff with a large grain of salt.
The place is clean and the facilities in the room are good - though the shower is poor. Not much water and the drain drains really really slowly.
I stay at the Sonder apartments when I am in New York, I find them to be a great quiet location with easy access to Brooklyn and the financial district. Rooms have kitchens as well and lots of supermarkets/general starred in the area. Will be back again
The place looks better in the pictures. Some of the furniture was worn, and the cleaning wasn’t up to the highest standard either. All of the towels showed signs of use and had some stains. The heating wasn’t working when we arrived. We reported the issue, and after three hours with no response, I contacted them again—they only offered an extra blanket?! It was 14°C throughout the entire flat. After more back and forth, they finally provided us with another apartment.
On the other hand, they did supply tea, a dishwasher tablet, kitchen towels, and toilet paper. Unfortunately, they ran out of coffee on Monday and couldn’t provide any until Friday. The kitchen had basic cookware, cutlery, plates, and glasses.
On the second floor, the working area is very pretty and peaceful. There’s also a pool table for some fun. The rooftop was closed, but even so, it’s a very small area and quite noisy due to the pipes. Overall, the location is great with easy access to Wall Street. Since everything looked brand new in the pictures, I was slightly disappointed.
Very nice
